Fireworks do that; that's part of why Seattle didn't get to do its famous fireworks show this year.
@@infinitecanadian it's because of the 1000s of bushfires burning along the east coast of Australia at the moment. There has been a lot of debate wether or not they should have used fireworks to ring in the new year considering people are dying a few hundred kilometres away.

For All you who cannot come to NYC on the 4th of July Independence of America, this is almost exactly what it looks on the Hudson River or the East River except we never had to my knowledge a waterfall of pyrotechnics off the Brooklyn, Manhattan or Williamsburg bridge. That was Absolutely GORGEOUS!!! OMG!! Aussies go hard for Fireworks!! this was an awesome display!! WOWOWOWOW!!!!

The fireworks are planned more than a year in advance. They don't just take a trip to the fireworks store a few days in advance.
I met a New Yorker who came to see the Fireworks, was worried they might be cancelled. It’s a huge business with locations booked and prepaid. But it IS time for Aus and Sydney to.rethink its policy of fossil fuel exports. We should be exporting the energy from our sunlight and wind.

1) cities budget for the fireworks a year in advance, the fireworks are paid for then.
2) cancelling it would mean forfeiting MILLIONS in tourism dollars for the local Sydney businesses as well as the government that will help pay for your next year's expenses.
