    Great video as always!
    But one of the criteria of the bill is “permanent” ECFMG certificate, doesn’t this imply at least one year in an ACGME program in order to get a permanent certificate?

    What about working outside Tennessee after acquiring permanent Tennessee license?

  • @kgenfkenbrjfr

    Hello. I have a very important question that is curial to IMG’s applying for this license in Tennessee. Does IMG’s need a Permanent ECFMG Certificate to apply, or is a temporary ECFMG certificate sufficient? Because if IMG’s need a permanent ECFMG certification, this means that they need to do a year long fellowship and turn their ECFMG certification to a permanent one before applying for this new Tennessee License. I have searched far and wide to find the answer to this question, but I was not able to find an answer. If you can help me with this question, I would be really grateful. Thank you very much.

    Hey I have a question. I’m an American citizen from Tennessee who is in final year in accredited medical school in Russia. My medical school is only 1 of 5 accredited schools in Russia meaning I can get ECFMG certified after 2024. In Russia we can become a physician right after finishing medical school. You mentioned home country you have to be practicing, but if I practice as a doctor for 3 years in Russia will this count for licensure in Tennessee?

    Hi I did General Surgery residency from India from 2001 to 2004. I passed my USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CS and CK, Step 3 from 2008 to 2009. I applied for general surgery residency. I wasn't successful. I was practicing general surgery in India till now. My family is in the US. I got my green card in 2021. Should I go for general surgery training or Internal Medicine training in the US, I am confused. I am interested in doing Family Medicine / Internal Medicine practice in the US. How I can do it in Tennessee. If this Tennessee offer is open now or it will be available in 2024 what is the best website of Tennessee I can go through.

    • @yamanjd-bg9yp
      @yamanjd-bg9yp ปีที่แล้ว

      First, you've got to complete the program, and then you'll be handed an unrestricted license in general medicine,not in orthopedic surgery. After getting the MD title in Tennessee, you have to check with the board on how to do a specialty,so you probably have to match into orthopedic surgery program to practice. The whole idea is to recruit an army of general doctors willing to work in rural places. If you want to be a specialist, you'll probably have to match into residency . This is what it says in the article of Medscape

    No, you don't need to do steps. Steps is only for people who don't have experience. People that have minimum 3 years + residence, don't need steps. Please read the second paragraph properly.
    The first paragraph talk about People who don't have experience, then, yes, you need steps (item 2 from 6 itens).
    The second paragraph talk about People who have 3 years + residence. Then you have 8 items to complete, but there isn't steps in this items.

      I don't think so. Please provide the exact text that says STEPS are not needed?
      ECMFG certification is a requirement and that requires the STEPs

      Maybe the time spent in Tennessee hospitals could count as a clinical time, replacing residency for other states?

    Unfortunately; they amended this law to reflect 100% of what USMLE requires; thereby making it a useless law.
