- In depth look at what it takes to mount bigger tires and wheels on your Japanese Mini Truck. For this video we use a 2002 Suzuki Carry DA63T Kei Truck but these measurements will work on most other trucks including Daihatsu Hijet, Mitsubishi Minicab, Subaru Sambar and the Honda Acty.

Best setup I've found on my Hijet is 14x4.5J rims with Nankang FT-9 185r14 Tyres. High load & speed rating and excellent on the highway and off road. Obviously requires a decent 2.5" lift
I think you've convinced me that the original OEM arrangement was the best.
Tire availability is the usual issue.

I got the same truck just a bit newer. I was able to fit 23x8 atv tires on no lift. Just had to trim the front plastic and remove the mud flap and plastic on edge of fender. Used 20mm thick wheel spacer to clear the shock. It’s tight but they fit.
What kind of restrictions are on the rear axle? I know the front has the most, especially with the turning sweep, but could you get a 10"ATV tire (or more) in the back for just that extra touch of flotation and traction? Diameter has to stay the same for drivetrain purposes obviously, but how far away are things like brake lines, shocks and spring perches?
I think it would look cool with small tires like golf cart ones and lowered down. Might be fun to try

I have a 97 Suzuki carry DD51T.
I want to use a set of vw 14" alloy rims. They fit and clear well, but I need longer wheel studs. Any suggestions to go from a 38mm long stud to a 45mm?
I'm using a 2" lift with 23" o.d snow tire. Studs are 12x1.25mmx38mm

Being 6-2 6-3 my first thought is how is the legroom? And can they be used as a daily driver back and forth to work with a little off-road capabilities. Also how do they handle in the sand snow and ice.
Is there a DOT rated 23X8R12 mud and snow tire? That would seem to be ideal but I'm not seeing anything like that. Do I need 14" rims to get a 23X8 DOT rated mud and snow tire? Asking for my 2.5" lifted 1996 4WD Hijet mini truck. :-) I'm mostly concerned that a 25" tire would make the effective gear ratio so high that the engine couldn't rev high enough to make power for top speed in 5th gear. I feel like there was some camber with the car lifted that might give inaccurate backspace measurement. Shouldn’t you measure that with the face of the rotor plumb, like if it was sitting on the ground, tire mounted?

If your going too ATV tires on an 09 da63t... Can there be a difference in diameter?.. most ATV and sxs have shorter front tires for steering.. and they say the 3*/* rule applys.. are kei trucks the same, or do you need same tires all around
Jeremy…in your opinion, how would UTV Portals work on a mini truck ? As I think it through, it provides gearing down, lift and widening the stance. If they are 30% gear reduction would that mean you could install 30% larger tires( diameter) in have roughly stock performance. I have given this a great deal of thought and can’t seem to see or come up with negatives except for possible additional wear on steering components…
I have 13" wheels on my 1996 Carry with 2" lift. Will 23.7" tall 13" tires fit? Specifically the tire is a 165 80 13. I am being told by pros that the 23" tires go on all day long with that 2" lift but how about the 23.7"?

I just bought a Suzuki carry and I was thinking that rims from a Suzuki Swift might bolt right up. Instead of doing all this measurement, just bolt them up. I did this with a couple of Metro's I had. I can't remember what size Suzuki Swift rims are though. This was a long time a go. I think they're 13 but I can't remember for sure. By putting size 13 on, I have a lot more choice in tires. 12 inch tires are very limited. This is the advantage of adding 13 inch rims.

14"mx5 "175x60s wheel fit well with 15mm spacers with no body mods ,I know because I run them on mine

The 14 inch Nissan wheel will work on, at least my 51T carry. (Sentra sort of thing)

Four Sons Off-Road Inc. at no point in this video did you ever put any of those rims and tires onto this truck. You told us you'd need to install a lift kit, also at what point did you mount a rim/tire in this video all I saw was you place a spacer onto a hub...

For a vid this long it should have included actual mounting of the different tires/wheels with real world road testing. You gave some good information but it is useless for most people. Could get more info on forums in less time with actual recommendations and testimonials.

Поставил адаптер переходник, и всё? 18 минут ... 30 секунд надо чтобы объяснить. Клиренс надо увеличивать , а это рычаги, это тяги, это приводы и их угол... Или я что-то не понял.
Вылет меняется, нагрузка на подшипники увеличивается... В стоке нельзя через адаптер заменить 12" заменить на 16". На зависимой подвеске может быть , но на не независимой это чревато ... Трабл будет. Проверено на собственной шкуре 30 лет назад..
