Wonderful...Ralph and Meggie..their love story it seems so real ...love it..
She sure forgot about her poor father and brother once Father Ralph started kissing her. 😂
And he sure forgot about being a priest until he was kissing her neck and saw her gold cross necklace shining against her beautiful skin, immediately snapping him out of his lustful spell.
My goodness, their chemistry was off the freaking charts!!! I was 6 when this first aired and having grown up Catholic I can remember my mom making me go to bed promptly every night this played so she wouldn’t miss a second and wouldn’t let me see the blasphemy. 😂 I finally watched the entire 10 hour mini-series when I was home sick from school one day my senior year of high school. That was almost 30 years ago and I still can’t get enough of this miniseries.
This was one of the greatest greatest movies I have ever seen I love it I’ve watched it over and over and still have my children it was an amazing movie

I hate that the critics were so harsh about Rachel Ward’s acting. This role required sooooooo much range and she was fairly new to acting. I think she did a great job. The way she looked at him after kissing him with the innocent jubilance of a teenager who kissed her first love was absolutely perfect. She was so young she didn’t understand what was really going to happen now that he inherited that sum of $$. She was just thrilled to finally have kissed the man of her dreams. Amazing.

@@peterlawrence6815 Non sarebbero stati felici. Lui avrebbe avuto sempre la nostalgia di Dio e della sua missione, Maggie avrebbe avuto il rimorso di averlo distolto dalla sua vocazione. Ralph amava veramente Dio e lo dice più di una volta a Maggie, ma amava veramente anche Maggie e quindi........? L'autrice ha creato questi due personaggi così pieni di passioni così da farceli amare tanto. Ha riservato loro, però, un finale drammatico e noi non possiamo fare altro che accettarlo anche se ci procura tanta commozione. Saluti
Si molto più bello con le loro voci anche perché Maggie in italiano ha la voce di Brooke Logan di Beautiful. Io sto riguardando i film e le serie di 30-40 anni fa in lingua originale ed è tutta un'altra cosa
@@giancam.5919 le voci italiane di Ralph e Maggie sono quelle di Oreste Rizzini e Roberta Greganti, due doppiatori tra i più bravi, in assoluto, di quel tempo. È risaputo che il successo di un attore straniero , qui in Italia, dipende soprattutto dalla voce del doppiatore. Infatti, sia Richard che Rachel , hanno goduto di tanta popolarità grazie anche alle voci così perfettamente adattabili a loro due.
@@luciafalcinelli6502 nonostante in Italia ci sia un'ottima scuola di doppiaggio, le opere in lingua originale sono tutta un'altra cosa e, una volta viste, risulta difficile tornare alla versione doppiata. Ad esempio dopo che ho visto il film 'Me before you' in inglese, rivederlo doppiato in italiano addirittura mi infastidisce (e io non lo parlo di certo fluentemente.. ). Del resto gli americani mai avrebbero doppiato Nuovo cinema Paradiso quando vinse l' Oscar. Tra l'altro penso che la cultura del doppiaggio abbia impedito agli italiani di imparare l'inglese come invece avviene in altri paesi dove questa pratica non si usa. Ci sono poi casi dove il doppiaggio cambia se non stravolge scene, dialoghi e personaggi. Ad esempio Stanley Tucci con la voce di Gabriele Lavia nel Diavolo veste Prada, parla con una voce affettata, tipicamente gay, mentre nell'originale non è assolutamente così.

Right? When I was young I idealized the love between Ralph and Meggie. As an older woman I can see how cruel and unfair he was to her, blaming her for his own lack of self control, exploiting the fact that she was basically the only man outside the family she ever spent time with so that when Luke came around, she couldn’t see what a manipulative piece of trash he was.
But most of all for taking Mary’s estate for the church when it should have been rightfully the Clearys’. Even 1.6 million pounds had they tithed 10% would have been a healthy take for the church, and maybe sent him to Sydney if not Rome.

I think it's so sweet. Meggie didn't fall in love with Ralph, she fell in love with Luke. Her and Bryan Brown are married till this day. Ralph however fell in love with that priest he had to banish. Don't believe me? Look it up.. 🙃
Yes it's true what you said. Meggie & Luke are married in real life. And Father Ralph & the actor that played the priest that was scolded were a couple. All excellent acting in this movie.
