All the actors, actresses, director, producers and crew members deserve an Oscar each for their outstanding and unmatchable performances. I watched this movie when I was 18 for over 7 straight hours through the night, when everyone (my mom and siblings) had gone to bed. It was a recorded VHS copy I borrowed from the video club in the small town Zaria, Nigeria, where I had grown up. Afterwards, everyone in my family knew I was one of the greatest fans of The Thorn Birds, as I never tired of telling them about Father Ralph and Maggi’s decades long love story. O how brokenhearted for Maggi I was (and still is) when Father Ralph died, but comforted that he died in her arms. 32 years later, am 50 years old, and I can still recite all the words to a lot of the scenes, especially those between Maggi and Father Ralph. I dare say that this is about my all time favourite movie 👑☀️🙌🙌🙌

I looked up regulations (researched) on Catholic priest. A married man can indeed become a priest. ❣ He cannot marry after he takes his priesthood vows. So they could have had both, but I guess he ??? These are married priests. They married first.

She sure forgot about her poor father and brother once Father Ralph started kissing her. 😂 And he sure forgot about being a priest until he was kissing her neck and saw her gold cross necklace shining against her beautiful skin, immediately snapping him out of his lustful spell. My goodness, their chemistry was off the freaking charts!!! I was 6 when this first aired and having grown up Catholic I can remember my mom making me go to bed promptly every night this played so she wouldn’t miss a second and wouldn’t let me see the blasphemy. 😂 I finally watched the entire 10 hour mini-series when I was home sick from school one day my senior year of high school. That was almost 30 years ago and I still can’t get enough of this miniseries.

I hate that the critics were so harsh about Rachel Ward’s acting. This role required sooooooo much range and she was fairly new to acting. I think she did a great job. The way she looked at him after kissing him with the innocent jubilance of a teenager who kissed her first love was absolutely perfect. She was so young she didn’t understand what was really going to happen now that he inherited that sum of $$. She was just thrilled to finally have kissed the man of her dreams. Amazing.
