    Ukraine is the most important topic in foreign policy because it determines whether the post-WWII world order will survive. The post-WWII world order brought us peace and prosperity. Without it, the world will plunge into chaos, which will be exploited by dictators.

      it brought you peace and prosperity. for us in eastern europe, it wasnt the same. we had to go through 50 years of communism and the effects still go strong and probably will be another 50 til we get rid of the mentality. and that, because the big powers incl america, agreed to give our country and others to russia, in exchange for "peace and prosperity" for some. it would be ironical if, by the time communism's remains completely rid themselves out of eastern europe mentality, communism will come back

    I've been very interested to hear what her foreign policy would be like, although of course I haven't had much time to look into it personally. Thanks for your perspectives!
    I'm glad that Harris's experience as Vice President provides her with a depth of experience in the Biden administration's policy. Her rapid rise from prosecutor to policymaker and statesman makes it important to examine her qualifications (albeit far preferable to Trump's impulsive and reckless style) so that, if she is elected, the right advisors and policymakers can be gathered under her charge.

      When does anyone ever say we need a bull in a China shop? You're making a false dichotomy when what is needed is much more than the choice between Biden and Trump. Of course you need a cool head, but you also need a big stick (to bring Teddy Roosevelt into this). Someone with a cool head can also see themselves and their policies sidelined. Obama in Syria. Obama in Crimea. Was the Budapest Memorandum in 1994 a Clinton "cool head"?

    Great analysis by Bremmer, as usual. However, regarding India, he overlooked an important point: there is some discomfort with Vice President Harris, especially concerning her perceived lack of trust with the ruling BJP party. When two opposing ideologies collide, it’s crucial to prioritize mutual interests over rigid adherence to a particular ideology, particularly when that ideology has played a role in maintaining the party’s power.

    A lot of foreign policy experience? Our presidents don't speak a foreign language and none have ever lived outside of America. This is why we have experts in the Dept. of State and elsewhere to advise our presidents. The question, then, is will she listen to the experts and will she understand them? Can she tell which "experts" are really informed and which are blowhards? Who can she rely on to give her good advice? Who can she trust? A trip to Berlin or Beijing does not make her an expert on Germany or China. We all know nations don't have friends. They have interests. Throughout Mesopotamia, divination guided the kings for a thousand years, divination from a sheep's liver or from celestial beings. For the most part. things worked out fairly well, but in the end, all the city-states fell to empires or were destroyed. May we learn from the past.

    Ian Bremmer
    How do you feel about her being selected and installed as the nominee for president within the Democrat party? It's a sincere question. I don't think I've heard you address it yet in all of your podcasts. Seems a little, I don't know, undemocratic? Seems a little, I don't know but like a dictatorship? I truly have not heard you mention a word about it

    • @jmhorange
      @jmhorange 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A little undemocratic? It's completely undemocratic. But that's what the Democratic party gets. They tried to force Biden onto voters, even though voters said last year, they wanted a different candidate because Biden was too old, and then it all started falling apart after the debate despite their best efforts to keep Biden in the race.
      It's not like a dictatorship because the Democratic party failed to get what they wanted, which was Biden at the top of the ticket. And they really didn't want Harris but it would have looked ridiculous to voters to skip over the Vice President and run a mini primary of which no voters would be able to participate in, only the delegates. So they were forced to go with Harris. A dictatorship requires not only an undemocratic move but also that those in power use the undemocratic move to secure something they wanted.

    • @jimgaston9863
      @jimgaston9863 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He won’t,he only shills lies for the DNC. At least the last 3 elections have been rigged by the super delegates AGAINST the grassroots picks by the regular delegates,this means their leader is actually voted in by less than 2000 people over millions of ordinary democrat votes. This isn’t DEMOCRACY these are coranations and Ian will never report this. He’s just happy he doesn’t have to give anymore space to the trump assassination attempt. He hired Jerry butts after he took the fall for Justin Trudeau after a scandal,Trudeau represents Bremmer’s true world view. Don’t let him propagandize for cackling Harris,the most under qualified presidential contender in history and Walz is even more radical. Vegas bookmakers pick trump 63-37 id say that’s a more accurate poll than even Fox News has produced which by the way were 100% wrong on their pollings and always in favour of the democrats in past elections. That is election interference
