With my Golden I turned sideways and walked away. He learnt quickly. When arriving home he would jump up the gate. To stop this I got down on his level and waited until he stayed sitting before opening the gate. Goldens want to please, they want to do the right thing by us. Thx for sharing. I see other Goldens jumping on people. It really is an easy fix. 👋🏻
Your videos are the BEST! So easy to understand, short and to the point! I'm getting ready for a Golden Retriever/Husky mix, I was told they're the best! I'm trying to study and research so I can have a very well mannered dog that is happy, healthy and has everything she needs
I'm so glad I found your channel! I have 2 dogs that jump (One is a golden the other is a poodle) and I hope this works so my sister can stop complaining lol
😂😂 yes plz i think my dog forgets his name when the door is open or he is out for play (even i m along with him) he jumps on squirrels and everyone else 😩
Great advice, my daughter has a 9 month golden retriever but I watch him Monday to Friday. He is so sweet but very jumpy in your face, I get worried he’s going to knock over a child or older person. He loves people and other dogs
So our puppy just turned one yesterday. She’s a jumper when greeting. I’m going to use some of your tips which she follows with me. When my husband comes home I tell him to ignore her tell her down and usually she listens. That’s when I advice him to greet her. Half the time my husband listens. When he doesn’t he gets her to sit but she gets excited and pee’s. Wether he’s greeting her in the house or in the yard. Then she’s all dirty. So thank god now he listens to not greeting her until she’s ignored him. Which by the way I taught her hug and she jumps up and I say kiss and I’ll get that too. Sometimes I don’t mind but arriving home and getting that jumping I want to stop. Now when I’m aware that company is coming I make sure she relieves herself in yard and she does her usual hug greet. When guest come like you say rules are out the door. I’m going to try the leash advise see if it works. I need to undo what I allowed. Please give me advise on the excitement of her getting treated and peeing.
I have a golden one year old. He is a jumper and since he turned one things are getting rough. I live with my elderly parents and he doesn't listen to them. I give him walks daily and plenty of activity. I have a good fenced yard where he goes out several times a day. He is not my first dog, but my first golden. Any advice will help. Also, he likes to grab anything he possible can fit in his mouth.
MY GOLDEN IS A YEAR OLD MALE, HE STARTED GROWLING WHEN I TRY TO TAKE SOMETHING FROM HIM THAT HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE, SUCH AS HIS GRABBING A DISHTOWEL AND RUNNING WITH IT, HOW CAN I CORRECT THIS AGGRESSION?
My 6-month old golden has always jumped/leaped up high while on or off leash so he never gets petted. He won't sit - is to excited. He pulls on the leash to "get at" people. I always firmly say "OFF" but it does not work. Turning and walking away doesn't work. So FRUSTRATED!!! Any suggestions?
I try n tire mine out but he when its time to go in kennel he will run from me like its a game. Its like he can sense that its time to go to his kennel. Any suggestion? Thanks
My friends and family are not cooperating when my Golden puppy jumps on them. I know she needs socializing but when people ignore my request to ignore until she sits, it makes me avoid having her around people. Help?
Other people make it impossible to train my 6mo golden, he keeps getting confuse, like: my owner doesn’t like it but others love it maybe my owner is crazy lol
I need help! I dog sit our neighbors golden. I have 5 chihuahuas 4 out of 5 are aggressive towards her. She’s not aggressive at all but she gets so crazy and jumps all over them even when they are trying to attack. It’s so stressful. I used a gate to keep them apart but not the golden can jump the gate. I want them to coexist. I’ve had beagles and the chihuahuas weren’t aggressive towards him bc he didn’t go near the chihuahuas. I need help.
Seems that a pattern and relationship has developed that is definitely not good. Your dogs are like a gang of bullies that love taunting the golden. Not their fault because it has been allowed and is now the “norm”. I personally think the most caring and responsible choice would be to find another pet sitter for the golden or visit the golden in the dog’s home not yours and do not bring your crew until you have spent much time retraining a healthy relationship with each of yours one at a time graduating slowly, very slowly to two of them etc. If you cannot give this a lot of time in retraining then find another sitter for the golden or only care for the golden in the dog’s house; do not bring yours there ever again. Bringing yours there or the golden to your place to endure your gang is for your convenience and not what is best for any of the dogs. You just need to decide how to be a responsible pet sitter: invest time retraining to at the Golden’s house or introduce the owners to a new pet sitter. I would be extremely upset if I discovered my pet sitter was putting my golden in such a stressful situation.
I have a two months golden retriever puppy and most of the times he’s disobedient and keeps barking, i train him a lot and spend lots of time playing with him, what shall i do?
I have a 80 year old mother who my GR loves, but unfortunately will random jump on her while she is sitting in her chair. What can I do to discourage this behavior?
He looks and sounds like a liberal. “Be nice to it, don’t swat it if it does wrong just tell it to stop kindly.” There dogs, your not gonna hurt there feelings, my golden jumped once and then he never did it to me or anyone else.

My Plott hound is good at ignoring the Golden pup when he jumps on his head and chews on his ears.
Be careful not to reward “jump then sit” as a cycle of paired behaviors.

No need for video unless you need hand movements to understand talking points.
