      Why is a 6900 series competing against a 3080 series? It should be 3090 series, and since XT, it's the 3090 Ti

      weird choice. a 3080 non-ti would've performed within 2-5% of a 3080 ti, and would've been 500$ cheaper.
      the performance results would largely remain unchanged, while the 3080 would appear as a better deal.

      @@pcmasterracetechgod5660 The problem is that the RX 6800 wasn't competent at 4K which means it can't be the best card of the generation. The RX 6900 XT is only 8% faster than the 6800 XT (which puts them in the same performance tier) but cost hundreds more. OTOH the RX 6900 XT is a full 22% faster than the RX 6800 which puts it two true tiers higher.
      There's also the fact that the RX 6800 XT was a BETTER VALUE than the RX 6800. Don't believe me? The RX 6800 XT was only 12% more expensive than the RX 6800 but was 14% faster. The MSRP of the RX 6800 XT was $649 while the RX 6800 was $579. Value doesn't normally increase with price, it decreases but the RX 6800 XT really bucked that trend.

    The RX 6000 series was the most competitive AMD lineup since the R9 200s era. AMD could compete even at high end while offering more VRAM. Meanwhile, on the RX 8000 series, AMD wont even have a high end option...

    • @Flyon86
      @Flyon86 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think it's fine really as long as the 8000 series provide good value. If they lean into being the good value option for people on the low-mid end (which Nvidia basically doesn't care about anymore) then they can increase their market share.

The 3080ti is 2 entire GPU's below the best, the 3090ti, while also having not the best AMD GPU the 6950xt. Based on a lot of reviews, and tomshardware GPU hierarchy, the 6950xt and 3090ti are basically tied at 1440p.

      @@pcmasterracetechgod5660 Oh I don't agree with that assessment at all. I think that the RX 6800 XT would destroy the RX 6900 XT in this competition. The RX 6900 XT is about 8% faster than the 6800 XT but 54% more expensive. The RX 6800 XT is the card that he should have used. Incidentally, it would've been appropriate because there were two cards above the RX 6800 XT just like there were two cards above the RTX 3080 Ti. The RTX 3090 and RTX 4090 Ti were the top GeForce cards while the RX 6900 XT and RX 6950 XT were the top Radeons.

    When I had seen all the reviews about the 3080ti, I put it out of my mind and didn't think I'd get an Ampere series card at MSRP. As Cyberpunk, Metro Exodus and RE 3 Remake taxed my poor GTX 970, it was time for an upgrade. I visited Microcenter and ended up picking an EVGA 3080ti open box on extra sale for 3080 MSRP + tax. That was honestly the best decision and I don't regret it. There were 6900 XTs as well and as much as I would have enjoyed the extra VRAM, I think the DLSS benefit has been fantastic.

    I bought a reference 6950XT a few months ago for $505 shipped from eBay. Mainly because it has a type c video out for my oculus 2 and I had a HD6950 back in 2011. It's been a good card, played more Diablo 4 than VR gaming but it handles 3440x1440 with everything cranked pretty high around 130-140 fps. My brain still explodes looking at it and thinking back to D1 graphics.

    This is literally one of, if not the most disappointing video on this channel. Almost like it was for the thesis about radeon supremacy. In this segment it's not fair to skip rt performance. It's also not fair to skip upscaling topic, where geforce is much better. And last but not least, this is basically the 4070/4070s segment. It's still far from being obsolete. Your games choice should go until today and beyond.

    Anyone that's kept up with PC hardware over the past few years know that AMD is now competitive or even ahead in raster performance, while Nvidia goes and focuses more on other features. So in raw performance per dollar, AMD has been known to be ahead on that front, but the actual comparison now between the two is... blurred, if other factors are taken into account. It's less straightforward, really.
    Also, the argument of driver stability between the two, for whatever that might be worth.

    Ray Tracing is entirely useless in gaming still, as it's still in its infancy, and will be for at least 5 more years. The 6950XT is 5 to 10% faster and draws a bit more power, the 6900XT would also never match the 6950XT since the 6950XT has faster memory. If buying brand new or if not much more expensive go for the 7900GRE, I would also opt for a 7800XT over a 6900XT and possibly even a 6950XT if around similar price, you would always want to go for the latest generation even if a little slower because of extra features support and power characteristics, they will also be better geared for future games while being fast enough already for older games. If going used there is also the 6800XT, its not much slower than the 6900XT and can be had for cheaper, the 6800XT has fewer active cores with around 95% the performance of the 6900XT.
      Basically: 7900GRE > 6950XT > 7800XT = 6900XT > 6800XT

    I think another good point of comparison would be power consumption. I have an AMD and Nvidia card from this generation. (RX6800 and RTX3090) And the AMD card draws much less power at same resolution(1440p) with a capped framerate.
