I have a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid Limited. I started working remotely a year after purchasing the car so it has 135,000 miles. I've owned the car for 16 years (delivery Nov 2008) so I've been car payment free for 11 years. Best purchase I ever made.
Major props! Chose a good car to last this long, and with working from home that will keep the mileage down and help keep it running even longer. Enjoy your Escape, I hope it keeps running strong for years to come, thank you for watching!
This one here was right around 60k miles too when it was picked up! So rare to find these in good shape nowadays, we gotta take care of them as long as we can! Thank you for watching, enjoy your Escape!
A great Buy indeed. I picked up a Black 2010 Escape (Fully Tinted out) AWD XLT V6 with 115K for $4800 in great shape and am totally satisfied with it. This guy is right. 2014's cam't compete. So much trouble with the 2014's gen. These analog escapes are so easy to work on and Maintain. Hope yours lasts a long time. Drive safe
Absolutely, right on!! These new ones, while I still do love Ford, their design doesn’t hold a candle to this generation of Escape. This second generation is simply timeless! Thank you for watching!
You’re not alone! I love my 12 Limited with the Duratech V6. It’s been pretty reliable, fun to drive, cheap to fix when I have had issues (few) and I like the looks! The fact it’s built on a truck versus crossover platform, even better!!
I have a 2010 XLT model with a 2.5L engine. She’s been with me for 14 years, and I have enjoyed every moment. It’s easy to maintain and pretty comfortable to drive. The only major issue I have faced is a transmission axle seal leak on the passenger side around 120K miles, but overall, this generation model is top-notch. Change your Mercon LV transmission fluid every 40K miles and your engine oil every 5K miles, and this car will last a long time.
That is good info to have on hand! Is the trans axle seal expensive to replace? These really are great cars, always seems easy enough to diagnose things as the engine bay isn’t too cluttered like most modern day cars. Thank you for watching, I hope the Escape delivers you many more years of service!
And for good reason too, I think it’s one of the most reliable passenger vehicle engines of our time. I hope you’re still enjoying your Escape and that it brings you many more years of use. Thank you for watching!
I had 316K Miles on my 2012 when it finally started giving me an issue with a mis-fire on Cyl 1. I also had to replace the catalytic converter at 296K. Other than that, ZERO Issues. No Leaks, and AC blew Ice Cold. Pretty awesome car considering I drove this thing HARD
Besides a few hiccups, a friend of mine has had good luck with his so far. Wishing him continued luck with it as time goes on. It’s a great car overall, the interior and exterior is just so timeless. Thank you for watching, I’m happy you were able to make it so far with your Escape!
@@adribouss Didn't do anything other than transmission fluid at the respective intervals, and it never game me a single issue. Not even a leak. And when I say I drove this thing hard I mean I travelled up steep grades on the regular in 110° weather (Grapevine, Interstate 5). My parents had a 2011 with the same 2.5L powertrain and it too had no problems with almost 300k before they sold it
Great job on the review! Very articulate and well-spoken. My wife had a 2002 Escape with the V6, which was a good vehicle for many years. The 4WD system was great in snow and mud, although the ground clearance from the independent rear suspension wasn't great, not that I ever took it off-road. I just remember it seeming too little clearance to get over a tall curb, for example. We both enjoyed driving it for the most part. I had forgotten about it being touchy at low speed, but you're absolutely right. Now, probably 15 years later and shopping for a car, I really appreciate the simplicity of older cars. Sometimes it really feels like newer cars are far too complicated and just aren't built to be run for more than 10 years at most. That said, I still don't think I would want to drive one now, but thanks for the nostalgia!
I appreciate you watching Eric, thank you for the kind words! It’s only in certain instances where I noticed the transmission being a little touchy. It wasn’t all the time, but it is something to note because there are some times where you notice it happening. I still think the 2008-2012 Escape is a great option for anyone, this generation of Ford was built to last, much better than the quality of the new ones in my opinion. Not to mention like you said, the simplicity inside is very refreshing. Thank you again for watching!
It’s still my favorite color on this generation escape! My ‘09 Escape Limited was in this same color. Still miss that car to this day. Im glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching and enjoy your Escape!
That is awesome, I’m glad you’re enjoying the V6. I hope she continues to run well, must’ve been built on a Wednesday haha, keep it as long as you can! Thank you for watching!
I had a 2011 for a decade, almost to 200k without an issue, loved the roof rack and ton of storage in this SUV, I moved so much stuff with it and the interior was nice. Only got rid of it cause I was moving across the country.
I'm sorry you had to get rid of it, I know I really missed mine when I did. Traded it for a 2014 F-150 at the time. Absolutely loved my F-150, but there's a certain "spunk" that these Escape's have that just make you love them. I'm happy you had good luck with yours too. Thank you for watching!
I can really only recommend buying the 2.5L, if it is the V6 I would say no. Personally I don’t like to buy vehicles over 150k miles. I usually like to buy around 100k and sell by around 140k-150k. These are just my preferences, but they done me well so far. Thank you for watching!
I've been considering a bronco sport. I currently have a 2012 2.5L escape still under 100k. Thanks for talking some sense into me. It really has been a great car. Many surf trips.
@@MichaelZimmerer Yeah if I had my choice, I would keep the 2012 Escape over the Bronco Sport. The Bronco Sport has cool styling, but I wouldn’t say it’s cooler than this generation Escape, and this Escape will be more reliable than that Bronco Sport, even though it’s newer. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I hope your Escape lasts for many more years to come, here’s to more surf trips! 🏄
I like these too! Duratec engine is great, and there is something to be said about the ease of cleaning and maintenance of a basic and plasticy interior.
Yeah there is, you're not kidding! The interior of my 2021 Silverado has so many nooks, crannies, different materials everywhere, that its hard to keep up with 😂 If you get an Escape with the leather interior, it's definitely one of the easiest cars to keep clean. Thank you for watching!
Had an ‘08 V6. Regular maintenance. Easy to work on as a weekend wrencher. Still running with 180k. Only major repair was a water pump last week. Everyone else in the family has gotten an 08-12 escape/mariner. I passed down my 08 in the family. I ended up buying a 2010 again today totaling 4 in the household. Last reliable ford made IMO
The last Ford I was really confident in was my 2014 Ford F-150, the 3.5L EcoBoost was bulletproof as well! This was from the same sort of generation of Ford so it makes sense. I think I had about 167,000 miles when I sold it. Was a great truck! Thank you for watching, I hope all of your Escapes and Mariners continue to run great for years to come! I’m still trying to convince my sister to get one! 😂
I purchased a 2009 Escape XLT 2 years ago. It only had 45,000 miles and was clean as a pin with no rust (southern car). It now has 60,000 miles and I plan on keeping it for a while. I have the 3.0 V6 and did have a rear seal leak that needed repair but I believe it has a lot of life left. I like the simplicity of the car.
Those are very low miles, nice find! It is a very simple car, when something goes wrong it’s usually pretty easy to figure out what it is. I hope she stays clean and runs for many years to come! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for watching my review of the 2012 Ford Escape! Comment your Ford Escape ownership questions below so I can get them answered! What used car would you buy for under $10,000? Here's a link to the Car Complaints Ford Escape page to see it's common problems: www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Escape/
I always liked this car , back in time a lot of taxis used this car in nyc , a lot of torque but a small space for people in the back seats.but it's probably not easy to find
This thing was like the Ford Crown Vic but in SUV form 😂 Definitely is a smaller back seat, but it always had just enough space to fit the kids. They are a rare find nowadays to find without any rust and low miles, but definitely still a solid buy to this day. Thank you for watching!
The interior lights were a lot fun. Any time someone was in the car with me, I’d ask them what color they wanted, it was a pretty mint feature. Thank you for watching!
My aunt had one of these and my cousin I took the thing up a wild 8 hour Jeep trail bounced the bottom off rocks the whole time.. got a standard alignment on our way home and no one was the wiser after we returned it 😅
No way 😂 That’s pretty funny gave me a laugh over here, it just goes to show you how tough these are and not a lot people know about them. This Gen Escape is the best kept secret. Glad you and the car made it back in one piece and nobody noticed a thing 😂 Thank you for watching!
I just bought the 2011 hybrid version of Gen 2 over the standard 2014 Gen 3. Will let you know how my experience goes. I prefer the Gen 2 stylistically like you mentioned.
A lot of the big agencies nationwide ran those hybrids so I’m assuming they have to be good, I hope you have good luck with it! This is still my favorite looking Escape to date, thank you for watching!
@@mr.2cents.846 it's still young to us, but it has been a reliable ride. I'm hopeful the Toyota hybrid technology from the generation 2 keeps the battery going. It's our first CVT transmission, so while my mom thinks it feels smooth, it feels strange to me cause it's a CVT. It presents well, and beyond the regular oil change, no apparent issues so far. Again, I think the hybrid version is fundamentally different than the standard engine, but same body and other components, and I've been happy thus far after ~6 month of ownership
I’m thinking of buying one of these but not sure about the engine size. Would the 4 cylinder be better on fuel consumption or would the 6 cylinder be better ? Reason I’m asking is because wouldn’t the 4 cylinder have to work harder then a 6 cylinder to move all that weight ? Very good vid thanks
Thank you for the nice words! While the 4-cylinder you think would be better on gas, it probably is just about even or has only marginally higher fuel economy than the V6. I wouldn’t let fuel economy get in the way of what engine you’ll choose, but personally with my knowledge of all the Escape owners I’ve seen here, they all seem to have really good luck with the 2.5L. Thank you for watching, good luck on the hunt for your Escape!
I just got the 2012 v6. I recommend that by far. Has plenty of power for what it is. Many people were surprised. But it definitely takes plenty of gas thru the city with a bunch of stop and start lights. I love it though. Very nice
I bought a 2011 XLS 2.5 L from a local city with 44000 miles maintained every 3000 miles for 4400! A few scratches, but came with brand new tires and freshly serviced.
Very cool, it’s amazing the amount of municipalities used these as vehicles for so many different uses. I kind of look at them as the Crown Vic of SUV’s 😂 Such a solid platform. I hope it brings you many years of use and enjoyment, nice choice! Thank you for watching!
I had the 2010 with the V6 and really liked it, and it was fairly reliable until it wasn’t. Something happened in one of the cylinders that have necessitated a repair that cost more than the car was worth. So I sold it and bought a 2010 Highlander.
The Highlander of that generation is a solid choice, probably a better choice than the newer ones. The 2.5L was always a little more reliable than the V6 was. I’m sorry that you ran into that with yours, these still are great cars overall. I hope your Highlander brings you many more years of use, thank you for watching!
Hey brother great review! I've never really looked too hard at the Escape but that really is a nice little SUV! I had a 2011 Taurus limited that was a great ride and so well equipped. The ambient lighting was so awesome and I notice now that many high end cars are finally starting to feature it. So is this Escape in your driveway now? I hope things have been going great for you. Not much new here...just some warmer weather but still tolerable. Take care and so nice to see you man!!
Hey good to see you again too my man! This is Escape is actually a buddy of mine’s. I told him he should check it out and then a few days later he ended up buying it, it was in really clean condition so that helped the decision! I don’t think many people know that 2009-2014 was truly the golden era for Ford. The quality was top tier back then, aside from a few exceptions like every other brand has. Those big body Taurus’ were SWEET! So comfortable, great highway cruiser, and plenty of power. I miss those and the Impalas! Two great cars! Thank you again for watching James, starting to heat up here in the NE now! Will be de-winterizing all the toys soon! Just been a little wet is all. Hoping this rain goes away! 🤙🏻
@@CEALLIFORNIA Oh that is great! I have to admit that I was a little surprised at the sticker price. I bought a new 2004 Expedition Eddie Bauer and got it for 30 grand even plus I got a free Dell computer and 2 nice camping chairs. I miss those days lol!! I loved that Taurus so much and my neighbor begged me to sell it to him after I stopped using it and driving the Town Car instead. That was 7 years ago and he still loves it! It's been warm here as well and I think the wet weather is done. I hope the rain there goes away too. Hope all is going great for you Ceall!!
@@jameswalsh6131 Just saw the northern lights on Friday too, was pretty neat to see! I was a little late in the night so they weren’t quite as vivid as I wanted them to be but they still came out pretty decent on camera. I can’t believe Ford did cool stuff like that back then. I’ll have to look at photos of it for the nostalgia. My dad had a 2006 Expedition. This thing was LOADED! It was all black and had the sport package so all the places where chrome should go were gloss black and I’ll tell you when this thing was clean, there was no better looking SUV to roll up in. Wow. I miss when the Expedition still had some soul left in its design! Now the only big body American SUV I’d consider is Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Escalade.
@@CEALLIFORNIA Oh wow I am jealous about the northern lights but I've been fortunate enough to have seen some great photos of them. One of my bucket list goals is to go and see them in Iceland. Your Dad's Expedition sounds so sweet! The big suvs have gotten to be so huge and pricey. I think I'd go with something like a Pallisade if I was looking. I hope that you have a great week brother!!
Happy to hear you’re enjoying your Escape so far, my friend is still having good luck with his, wishing you many more years with it! Thank you for watching!
I didn’t have issues with my transmission when I owned it, but it certainly wasn’t the smoothest transmission I’ll give you that! I actually didn’t know these came in standard, that makes this even cooler. Thank you for watching!
Only issues I hate is the front suspension doesnt have camber adjustment and if you do any work with the bearing. Or anything where you take apart the knuckle from the coilover you need an alignment after.
I bought a 2009 escape with 152,000 miles. It's approaching 200,000 miles. I did have to do the transmission rebuild at 179,000 and some other repairs bit it's been running great since. I really think the 2nd generation has a lot of life left and the design is the best of all the escapes. 😎
I don’t think they will ever top this Escape design, even with all the high tech things that are going into the new ones, they’ll still never touch this design. I’m glad your Escape is still running strong after the rebuild! Thank you for watching!
@@snake7686 Very nice, I think it’s the only way to buy these, the cloth in the XLT I really just can’t stand the look. It gets dirty so quickly. I’ve been trying to find one for my aunt in the local area, but a lot of them are rust ridden, I just have to keep looking I hope we can find one for her. I told her it’s the only SUV I trust putting her in 😂
@CEALLIFORNIA yep, the leather is nice especially in black. I'm glad that I got the limited, I also got the moon n tune package with the cool lighting, it's a nice touch. 👌
@@snake7686 you got the full bore just like this one was, something about these SUV’s You could drive them for years and never get tired of them. I’m glad you’re liking it, the black leather is pretty slick inside, especially with the ambient lighting.
Thank you I appreciate that! After my friend picked up his new car, him and I agreed that it would be interesting to make a video about it since there doesn’t seem to be too many videos about affordable cars lately and with the way the economy is, we thought it was the perfect idea! This really, at least to me, is the best car, for under $10k! Thank you for watching, it’s good to see you on the channel again!
I was looking at buying one of these a couple of years ago. The problem with them is they rust way too easily. I found a 2012 with 80,000 kms for $10,000 Canadian at a dealership in Toronto. It had so much rust I walked away. There were a couple near where I use to live and same thing, rusted to hell.
Yeah you definitely have to go on a nationwide search at this point to find the premium examples that were in nicer climates. Shopping up here in the northeast isn’t easy. Almost always have to drive out of state to get something in nice shape if it’s more than a few years old. That was the reason I got rid of mine. The rust over the wheel wells was starting to come in. But if you keep up on it as it happens I’m sure it would be a great SUV for years to come. Thank you for watching!
@@dianebinpa6668 I did hear about that so I always remember to check those when shopping for these. Still a great used car to this day, thank you for watching!
@@CEALLIFORNIA Its easy to fix, but a bit costly. Good thing about the 2012 model is that you do not need to remove a ton of parts to get to what needs fixing and you actually can do all the maintenance work on it. With newer vehicles, cant even do a simple oil change. Gotta take them to a dealer. I still love my 2012 as much as the day we got it new. They ride smoothly, are great in snow, have just the right space and are so classy looking. Yours is a beauty, by the way. The white is so sharp looking. Glad you found another 2nd generation you like.
@@dianebinpa6668 This one is a friend of mine’s, I convinced him it would a great option for him and so far it has been good to him and I think it’s a MASSIVE plus that most of the work can be done yourself and when something does go wrong, it’s easy to find what’s wrong because of just how simple this car was.
My daughter a 2012 with only 80k miles. 2.5. It’s a good size, but man it’s slow. Also it suffers from the rust problem in the metal over the rear back wheels. It’s common. We had new medal welded in. And at the last inspection our mechanic said the frame is starting to rust. My 2010 RAV4 V6 with 191k miles is a better car even though it has 100k more miles.. We hope to get a few more years out of the Escape.
The 2.5L certainly is no speed demon, but it has been known to be pretty reliable, so I kind of accepted the lackluster performance for that fact alone. 😂 The rusting metal over the rear wheels is what led me to finally selling mine, that and I was looking to upgrade to a truck. I try to keep whatever I have looking in tip top shape, so I couldn’t bear to see the rust. I heard the rust on the frame was an issue with these too, and the motor mounts eventually rusting out as well, but then again that happened on Honda Civics around the same year range too as well. The northeast is a cruel, cruel place to our cars. I hope the Escape delivers you a few more good years of service, thank you for watching!
I’ve got a 2008 limited and it doesn’t have the chrome piece below the grill and I’m glad because I really don’t like that… Some people might like it but not me… I can’t believe that one doesn’t have the parking assist option…
Sometimes having the color match does make it look a little sportier as there’s less chrome, definitely all a personal preference thing. I’m happy you’re liking your Escape, still my favorite SUV in this price range. Thank you for watching!
because it's an amazing car and this generation are best Escapes ever. Much better then the ugly "Kuga" that replaced it. 4Cyl is reliable and very simple with soo much space when you need to access anything in the engine compartment! This is the last generation of real cars, equipped with pretty much everything you need and not plagued by any of the downsizing (which results in less reliable overly complicated weak engines with often much the same fuel efficiency), nonsensically oversized display and other pointless things in cars these days.
You’re 100% right, all this downsizing and turbo charging of engines and yet year after year I don’t see any massive changes in MPG, if at all like you said. Plus, like you mentioned, these engines that have been down sized and turbocharged often have more issues. I wish this Escape still existed, really was the last of the real cars. Thank you for watching!
Honestly it’s hard to give an estimate as rust progression varies from car to car, but I would say hopefully it wouldn’t be more than $1000-$1500 to have both sides fixed if they needed it, that is if the rust is not that bad and sort of just starting to develop. It could be less though, haven’t gotten body work quoted in quite some time, but I know it’s never cheap because of the labor. If you are looking to buy one that has rust on the rocker panels, if it’s really bad just don’t buy it. If it looks manageable/fixable like it’s just starting, then definitely use that as bargaining/negotiating power. Thank you for watching!
Not helping me detach from my car, have a 2011 ford escape with repairs i cannot afford atm because i got scammed by a mechanic. Now even more i dont want to loose it. Ive only had it for 2 or 3 years
I’m sorry to hear about that, finding a trustworthy small town mechanic is a little more difficult these days. This generation Escape is a wonderful car even to this day so I hope you are able to get it back on the road. Good luck with it, thank you for watching!
Yeah I was always a little weary of the 3.0L, although I never had any first hand experience with it. I always loved the amount of room there is in the engine bay of these with the 2.5L. Even though you don’t get that great power of the 3.0L. Thank you for watching!
I have a 2011 3.0L. The quality of this model is below average. Definitely worse than GM and Toyota that I owned. 1. Every Escape/Mariner I see in new England, including mine, developed rust along rear wheel well and lower lip of lift gate. It rots from inside so you cannot sand and paint it. 2. My muffler and resonator rattled at 5-y old/70K due to rust. 3. Many windshield washer tubes cracked and leaked near joints. 4. The D-shape linkage behind ignition key cylinder cracked. When you turn key, the internal parts just don't turn enough angle to start engine. There are many cheap ebay/amazon aftermarket ignition assembly, indicating this is very common problem. 5. Fuel pump (OE pump made by Bosch) made louder and louder noise so I replaced it before it fails. 6. My 3.0L developed oil leak at rear edge of timing cover at 100k. Started dripping on floor. I took 2 days to replace the timing cover gasket. Found all gaskets (valve cover, timing cover, oil pan) were hard and brittle. And what if you have 2.5L? As soon as you remove the balancer you are in big trouble, because the crank shaft is not keyed! A friction ring keeps your parts in time. Good car if you are good at DIY. It's simple without GDI or turbo. You will find many repair videos on YT, as well as cheap parts, because these problems are so prevalent. I agree they are better than 2013+ Escape.
That rust is definitely no joke. Have to travel out of state most times to find one without rust. Just found this one without rust down in North Carolina. It’s as clean as can be, even checked the undercarriage. But owning these in the northeast or anywhere in the rust belt can be a struggle. I’m sorry you didn’t have the best luck with the 3.0L, I really did like my 2.5L and the 2.5L has been good in this one shown here too. Thank you for watching!
There is a white 2010 Limited V6 with 79,000 miles for sale in Pasco, WA at Bulldog Motors that I just saw on Car Gurus. Just do your due diligence to ensure it’s a good buy before purchasing, looks clean in photos! I hope this helps!
@@Mach141 There are some sites that consider this mid-size and some sites that consider the Escape compact. Everyone seems to have their own opinion on where these fall in size.

It is really hard to hate on this generation of this Escape, I really enjoyed mine when I had it. I hope your Escape continues to run well, thank you for watching!
Less than half the resale value as a 2012 Rav4 and has countless quality issues from catalytic to transmission. Mother in laws had some miles on it, but had to have both engine and transmission replaced on it. Check engine light stayed on regardless of any maint.?
It is about 25-35% less expensive than it's RAV4 counterpart and I think that makes it an even better deal I think because this did have some better tech than the RAV4 too. Between my own experience and now two others close to me, I4 and V6 models alike, we've all had great luck with our 2008-2012 Ford Escape's. I'd still buy another one to this day as a daily if I had the garage space. It really depends on if your Escape was built on a Wednesday or a Friday. It's all luck of the draw when you buy any car really. Thank you for watching!
I actually thought that it was sort of a good thing because it didn’t date the interior quite as much. Although I’d be lying if I didn’t say it would be cool to have one with all the bells and whistles like that just to say you do. Thank you for watching!

Yeah not every vehicle has great crash test ratings unfortunately. Like the Subaru Crosstrek doesn’t score well on the side impact test. The Subaru Impreza doesn’t score well on the side impact test as well. The Nissan Murano scores poor on the moderate overlap test. Jeep Grand Cherokee scores poor on the moderate overlap. Where the hell did you find a 2012 vehicle with only 65k miles and under $10k ? For some reason i think it was your parents that sold it to you.
Thought i was the only one who thought these looked good. The newer models all turned into hideous little jellybeans on wheels.
Absolutely, right on!! These new ones, while I still do love Ford, their design doesn’t hold a candle to this generation of Escape. This second generation is simply timeless! Thank you for watching!
The new ones look like a Hyundai Santa Fe. The second generation Escape is awesome and so classy. Keeping mine until it’s run into the ground.
@@dianebinpa6668 Agreed, that bubble shape is not as attractive as this nice, squared off look. Thank you for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I love these. Oddly makes me happy to drive them.
My 2012 escape with the 2.5 is going on 220k as of today. Still no signs of quitting ;) The duratech 25 has become one of my fav engines ever.
How in the world did you manage to reach that mileage without transmission issue?
@@adribouss Didn't do anything other than transmission fluid at the respective intervals, and it never game me a single issue. Not even a leak. And when I say I drove this thing hard I mean I travelled up steep grades on the regular in 110° weather (Grapevine, Interstate 5). My parents had a 2011 with the same 2.5L powertrain and it too had no problems with almost 300k before they sold it
Did you ever figure out the misfire? Mine has the same thing on cylinder 1. Pretty sure it’s an exhaust valve. Do you still drive it with the misfire?
@josephwayman8241 Did you change spark plugs and coils? I 've experienced misfires on cylinder 1 and 4 because worn spark plugs.
I have this exact car in the same color, thanks for making me fall in love with my car all over again 😊
It’s still my favorite color on this generation escape! My ‘09 Escape Limited was in this same color. Still miss that car to this day. Im glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching and enjoy your Escape!
I'm driving a 2012 V6 with about 148k miles on it. Runs great and no major problems so far.
About mileage is it ok 150k mileage? Thinking 2011 escape 😅
Thank you for watching!
lucky you i have a 2004 love it, looking for a 2011 or 12

I always liked this car , back in time a lot of taxis used this car in nyc , a lot of torque but a small space for people in the back seats.but it's probably not easy to find
This thing was like the Ford Crown Vic but in SUV form 😂 Definitely is a smaller back seat, but it always had just enough space to fit the kids. They are a rare find nowadays to find without any rust and low miles, but definitely still a solid buy to this day. Thank you for watching!
The absolutely killroy interior lighting really sets it off, espeically during a night cruise with some good tunes! Awesome video
The interior lights were a lot fun. Any time someone was in the car with me, I’d ask them what color they wanted, it was a pretty mint feature. Thank you for watching!
i have a 2004 limited, I still love it!! 160k
I hope it continues going for you while you look for a replacement!
And? Still love it??
I got a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid with 75,000 miles in great condition. Very reliable car!
Still pretty low miles too, it has to have a lot of years left in it I’d imagine. Thank you for watching!

Finding one as a Hybrid or a standard is a gold nugget. Unless you don't mind rebuilding the transmission
I didn’t have issues with my transmission when I owned it, but it certainly wasn’t the smoothest transmission I’ll give you that! I actually didn’t know these came in standard, that makes this even cooler. Thank you for watching!
I meant if you go up near 250 or 300k miles then transmission may wear out like my neighbors did. My Hybrid is at 300k now
Only issues I hate is the front suspension doesnt have camber adjustment and if you do any work with the bearing.
@CEALLIFORNIA thanks, I plan on keeping it for a very long time, I love driving it everyday. Mine is a grey limited v6 fwd.
Another great video Ceal....Enjoyed it, and also liked the fact that you did something a little different from what all the rest of the pack is doing.
@@CEALLIFORNIA Agreed !
Awesome review. This video just made me make the right call. I am going to get this Escape version.
I don’t think you’ll regret it, such a refreshingly simple vehicle choice compared to all the tech packed cars of today. Thank you for watching!
Keep an eye on the subframe. The AC condenser drips on them and rots them out
I will let the owner know to keep an eye out for it, that is good info. Thank you and thank you for watching!
The front subframe connector/engine cradle rots out on them, but its worth replacing and keeping the Escape.
@@dianebinpa6668 I did hear about that so I always remember to check those when shopping for these. Still a great used car to this day, thank you for watching!

Its easy to fix, but a bit costly.
I have pictures of the hybrids at auction with 800k miles
That is crazy, I didn’t know there was Escape’s with mileage like THAT. Incredible, another testament to how stout these are. Thank you for watching!
mine is a 2004 v6 limited, jts perfect i side and out, in oregon, no rust
@@CEALLIFORNIA It’s quickly becoming my favorite also…👍🏼
You’re crazy bro. Crazy
@@wesleycameron1034 Thank you for watching!
because it's an amazing car and this generation are best Escapes ever.
How bad do the inner rocker panels get rusted an how much off hand would it cost to repair it.
If it looks manageable/fixable
like it’s just starting, then definitely use that as bargaining/negotiating power. Thank you for watching!
Not helping me detach from my car, have a 2011 ford escape with repairs i cannot afford atm because i got scammed by a mechanic. Now even more i dont want to loose it. Ive only had it for 2 or 3 years

@@jaredbryant8297 you probs the dumbass who thought i had a V6 part on my 4 inline engine arent ya?
Thiers no escapping a bad escape...
Having lived with 3.0 DOHC I would hands down say a 4 cylinder pays for its self for basic DYI..

I actually thought that it was sort of a good thing because it didn’t date the interior quite as much. Although I’d be lying if I didn’t say it would be cool to have one with all the bells and whistles like that just to say you do. Thank you for watching!
@@CEALLIFORNIABesides these Navigation systems play DVDs. At pretty good quality if I may add.
Greetings to California.
@@mr.2cents.846 Now you’ve got my attention, would love to be able to play movies on there, I’d like to see one in person with that system now! Always love to have viewers from California, thank you again for watching!
@@CEALLIFORNIAOn a happy December day I test drove a Limited Escape and tested the navigation package playing a CD and DVD, (my favorite surfer movie from 1987, North Shore).

does yours shake when is cold?
Mine never shook when cold, but the transmission did shift a little rougher in especially cold weather until it finally warmed up. Thank you for watching!
Stop telling people about these, you'll ruin it!
I’m sorry man it’s hard to hide the love I have for this car. 😂 It’s just the best all around package at this price point. Thank you for watching!
Especially the hybrids
are you selling?
This particular one isn’t mine but I wish it was, it is an excellent daily driver!
These cars are fn tanks. I wish ford made anything even comparable to them. And no the bronco sport with the ecoburst engine is not comparable since there’s no chance they’re going to last as long
They sure are, I still love them to this day, you still see a lot of them out on the road! And I agree, that Bronco sport will be lucky to make it to 20-30% as far as these Escape’s did, they’re just not built as well unfortunately, but at least they’re nice to look at 😂 Thank you for watching!
The empty gas gauge..definitely a quirk of the owner!
You’re gonna have to talk to him about that 😂 Thanks for watching brotha!!
Most of these i see now have a lot of rust
Definitely have to search it out to find the ones without rust, if you can find a clean one, I think this is a still a great choice for a used car. Found this one rust free in North Carolina. Thank you for watching!
Escape the internal water pump...
Luckily mine didn’t go bad when I had it 😂 I wanna say I had mine from about 98k miles up to 130k miles before I sold it to buy a truck and luckily didn’t have any issues. Thank you for watching!
And you can fit at least a couole of corpses , or thats what i remembee from DEXTER the series
Haha! I remember we started watching Dexter and I think we fell off after about season 1 because we got tangled up in some other show. We'll have to restart it so I can spot this Escape 😂 Thank you for watching!
He had a crash in that truck right?
@@theadvocate4698 I just did some looking around on Reddit and it turns out the car he crashed was a Kia that they showed him driving in the first episode of season 4. Some still say or believe that it was the Escape, and some say there is no doubt it was meant to be the Kia. Quite the argument about it on Reddit 😂 But the vehicle shown crashed is a Kia in season 4. Thank you for watching!
@@CEALLIFORNIA Hum? I will have to look it up!
Those safety readings are awfully low.
Are you referring to the crash test ratings on these?
@@CEALLIFORNIA Yes, on the window sticker.
I wish they could all be made as safe and as bulletproof as the Volvo’s. Thank you for watching!
Your lucky to find one with under 200k miles 😂😂🤣
It’s a struggle, definitely not finding in the next town over, more of a national search at this point but they’re out there 😂 Thank you for watching!
I really like my 2014 Ford escape it looks mean and edgey minus the transmission there crap very crap
They do look great. I really liked the Platinum trims in that generation. But I will agree the transmissions in that generation of Escape, Focus, and Fiesta definitely weren’t the best. I hope your 2014 gives you many more years of use, thank you for watching!
