It's pretty clear why Wooting keeps kicking a$$ with each of their releases... These guys are absolute PERFECTIONISTS!!! They sweat over the tiniest (but super important!) details that other much larger brands just gloss over.
All 3 Zinc cases look really good. Please do update us once the White and Raw ones are fully final. I like the look of the raw one a lot but IDK if I can keep it in pristine condition. So I may go for white. But if you manage the final effort for making the Raw stronger... Just update us Wooting. Amazing work either way.
When it comes to the raw zinc alloy case, I would honestly prefer longevity over a slight hit to the looks, part of the zinc alloy appeal at least to me is that this is a piece that could last with you for the rest of your life, something memorable that you could use and keep forever without having to babysit it.
I think the aging/patina of the raw alloy case over time will hopefully be one of the best qualities of this case, as it'll add uniqueness to every board.
True, i've work with patinas before. It comes with different results depending on how long it was submerge into the patina(concentration of the solution, etc). Though if you wanna keep the raw look without using clear coat, you can always use wax coating to keep the metal from oxidizing. Edit: Wax coat helps protect the metal from most liquid/fingerprint stains too
I can't wait to see how artists will put their spin on the raw zinc with electroform or torch patinas! KneeDeep did a batch a year or so ago for the TYP60 keyboard and it was awesome.
Since you have that modified keyboard testing rig, it would be helpful to check how much latency and deviation usb hubs add. (while other hub's port doing big data transfer as well) I've heard that it is sub millisecond, but haven't seen any sub millisecond precise tests.
14:30 The oxidation process can also be a positive, like leather wear over time, it changes the look and feel of the product without altering its properties. It adds character!~
I am getting one of the testers. I will be testing and publishing results for around 35 different HE keyboards. I think this is really awesome for them to be doing this. I honestly only expect only a couple keyboards to come close to Wooting latency wise. Latency is only one aspect of judging a good gaming keyboard, but it probably the most important thing. The software is the next most important feature, and this is where Wooting is leading also. There are a couple others that are getting close, and that is also something that can improve over the life of whatever keyboard you choose. I believe picking a keyboard from a company that plans on activity developing and supporting that keyboard is also super important. Build quality, layout, how it feels and sounds are also important. Some get that part right but screw up the technical aspects, and others get the technical part right, but the keyboard it's self feels cheap. Lastly I would say the price of the board is also important. Some buyers may have a limited budget and a lot of the best keyboards will be out of their reach. There are definitely a few sub $100 keyboards that a decent, but if you can afford it, I do recommend going for a quality keyboard like a Wooting.
Wooting reminds me of Singer (a Porsche 911 modding company that makes super expensive beautiful and functional resto mods). Their motto is “Everything is Important” and Wooting seems to have the same motto
I just spent wwwaaaayyy to much money preordering the top top top end 80HE with all the extras. Buuut this will probably be my forever keyboard. Can't wait to see it
I bought myself a wooting 60he+ and I'm in love so I think I might aswell get the 80he and give my 60he+ to my younger cousin. Y'all make really nice keebs
I wonder how ceramic coating the RAW case would be. Like not as a huge assembly line production thing but more so consumer thing. I haven't checked prices in forever but I feel like you could get a $20-30 bottle and completely/perfectly coat the raw case and this would 100% keep it safe from anything and clean up easier.
купил себе wooting 60he+ и она оказалась топовой,на классическую механику или оптомеханику переходить не охота.Не хватает только регулировки высоты. Спасибо разрабам за данный продукт👍
I really like the raw concept and is what i ordered. The actual finish looks cool, a bit too shiny for my taste. My only concern is that i live in a high humidity country (75-90% almost all year), hopefully the final product will be more durable or at least will get a nice patina overtime.
Looking at this zinc alloy black I might have some regrets taking the plastic one... But can't change now if I want to get L45 switch pack which I do because I like lighter switches.
So i guess if you want fastest strafing you want to make it so that last button to activate activates. If i strafe left and then immeditely let it off plus at the same time push down right strafe i want that to activate even though left button will be further down.
Rappy snappy works in combination with Rapid trigger. This is more complicated to explain but it comes down to that you won’t need the most sensitive rapid trigger setting to get the best results. Rappy snappy increases accuracy if hitting timed actions
This might be a stupid suggestion, but why not use a clear cerakote/ceramic coating on the raw finish to preserve the "freshly machined" look while still offering solid corrosion and stain resistance? Obviously it would be pricier but you could maybe offer it as an add-on. Just a thought :)
How does 8k polling affect CPU’s especially when paired with 8k mice or 4K motion sync mice? How much volatility can it introduce to frametime? Mainly for demanding games like BR, and other non-arena shooters.
I do love the idea that the zinc case ages with you. That means every keyboard will become unique eventually and that's not a bad thing in the hobby, no? If you dislike it, you may buy a new one. But what I've been wondering was, if a clearcoat of any kind is an option? It would alter the feel, obviously, but also preserves the look, no? So could there be the option to have a clearcoated raw and a pure raw? So that people can decide what they want most - long lasting raw looks, or a truly evolving raw case.
Yes, the PVT samples just arrived at the warehouse and will be sent towards me this week. So hopefully in 2 weeks I have something ready. We did do some sound tests in the pre-built mods video we did a while ago as well.
Any plans to release a pcb with southfacing LEDs? It's a bit difficult finding nice keycaps that aren't cherry profile. Love the look of the raw case, hoping to snag one soon
Not all keycaps with cherry profile will have interference and need south-facing. Lekker switches do not have interference unless the Cherry profile keycaps are GMK or similar thickness. Our Kana keycaps are Cherry profile without interference and similar thickness. Just a better internal design to avoid intereference. You can also install the switches south facing, just the LED will still be on the top. Hope that helps.
Hello Wooting team, I hope this comment finds you well. I have a question that I think could lead to an interesting discussion for the community. If someone could take the time to answer this it would mean the world to me. I wanted to know if I'm the only one who had the idea of making a hall effect PCB that could "pulse" or "bump" the hall effect switch via its magnet when it actuates/de-actuates. Creating a feeling that's similar to a tactile or clicky switch. Except for the fact that the position where the user would feel the bump is adjustable. If this is even possible, how many years away do you think that this technology is? Maybe an earlier implementation of this idea is is providing the user with audio cues when the switch is actuated/de-actuated. Is that something that the Wooting team has discussed? Thanks
We had an idea for this and did a quick mockup, but there were some complications with power draw and coil noise it makes. We had kept it to that for now and redirected efforts elsewhere. Perhaps we take a look again in the future.
