I think it's incredible you got this far jimmy..not just any mechanic could do that..if it only pays 5 hrs that's ridiculous it should be 8 to 10 hrs.great video
Good Evening, Jimmy. God, I wish you guys were closer. Story time: Covid took out the mom-and-pop shop I used for years. Yesterday was inspection time for the 2016 Trax, the Soccer-mom/PTA tank of our cars. We took it to the dealership as limited choices in our area for state inspection. Around 1 my wife gets called that there are oil leaks they need to track down and fix (she said call me). Well, it is possible, I did not see anything doing oil change and just did new valve cover in spring. I went to see what they were talking about. Well, I would be darn if they had not cleaned off the old oil buildup waiting to find any leak. The only problem was it was the last 6 years of oil undercoating they just removed. There were no leaks. From front to back under the Trax was oil undercoated not just the bottom of engine or transmission. They claimed good news there was not a leak. However they wanted to charge me for time and labor to destroy my undercoating, which I would need redone. Let us say I was not seeing eye to eye on their idea of good news. Service advisor claimed wife okayed the time too track down leak. Then claimed underbody undercoating of any type is dangerous and compromises the vehicle. Steelcity undercoating would disagree, 2016 in rust belt 99% rust free. Paid for all services except destructive hunt at this point while upper management looks into this issue.
Awesome as always Nothing better than coming in to work early going over service tickets having a little breakfast and of course watching making it work 👍🏻🚣♀️ But I have to say that sure is a fancy kneeling pad you have there👍🏻
great job as usual !! I like the way you work very organized and logical. Sad to hear about Lizzy Musi . I remember sitting next to her when she was a little girl in the stands at maple grove raceway she was probably 7 or 8 years old.
Thanks for the video Jimmy! I had to make a tool to remove the harmonic balancer on the 1958 Holden straight six today, the balancer is a press fit with no bolt or nut to hold it in place. There's a 1.125 UNF thread inside the balancer hub to screw your tool into then you screw a smaller bolt through the tool to push it apart. I started with a 1.125 bolt, chucked it on the lathe to get a nice concentric hole through it and tapped it for M12 because I have a nice long M12 bolt from a subframe that has a suitably pointy end. Tomorrow I'll see how it works, I hope it does because the real tool costs $200!
Jimmy! My hero! I can't believe you pulled that thing out before lunch I hate Dash work I guess cuz I'm such a big dude. Good job my friend. We just got back from vacation spent a week up in the cool Arizona mountains. Every day was in the 70s and now we're back in 110° weather I was dreaming about working at those little shops up there in the woods and retiring but back to reality have a good week my friend I need to get out of vacation mode spent most of the day yesterday spinning my wheels but I wrote close to 60 hours three cars that got sold so this morning I'm ready to go!
I have handed my James a many a tool over time, LOL Can't quite figure out how to hand you things through the computer screen though so, always a like and a comment for you! Great video, thanks and have an awesome day!
I did one ! 32 hours ! Also did the heater core while in it ! Not a fun job ! Then the airbag light came on ! Had to drop the steering out column again the clockspring had to be recentered !
Hey Jimmy are you ok?? You keep sending out this look like something is going on.. LOL LOL LOL,, Listen I got your back.. Great work Jimmy.. FROM TOM..
This job separates the good guys from the masters. This repair would have kept me awake the night before. It is about as deep as you can get on a repair. I would have had to take dozens of pictures to remember how things went and I still would have struggled. Your employer must value the heck out of you because this is well outside of what most shops will even attempt. Cheers😊😊😊
with all that work on the dash , jimmy. you would think the customer would get a new or a replacement drivers door panel 🤔 some people's priorities 🤦♂️😂. 🔩🪛⚙️🔧🧰👍
Great job Jimmy, I would have ran so fast in the other direction they would have had to ship me my tool box. Your the msn brother.

Thanks 👍Much appreciated my friend!
Jimmy after that job you deserve mechanic of the year award , that's amazing work ,I would not even try that, way to go Jimmy on a roll.
Haha thanks very my friend!
That dash work looks like a 2 day job or at least a day and 1/2. It’s kind of neat how the whole thing is modular. Very interesting job.
Yeah, it is a lot of work, but not nearly as complicated as some of the others I’ve done.
Thanks Lloyd!
Well done big Jimmy when I worked at the dealership 30 years I did many of them cs if you had 3 or 4 screws left over you did a good job😊
Haha thanks Sam!

Wow I’ve never removed undercoating to find oil leaks. The engine and trans shouldn’t have it on them?
Interesting. Hope you get it sorted!
Another great day in the shop. Best way to change a cabin filter.................🤣🤣
You got that right! lol
Excellent work on a complex job. I learned a lot.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks Randy!
Awesome as always

Oh wow, that is a great memory. She seemed like a good person, maybe struggling with some things. Sad to go so young. Cancer sucks.
Thanks Anthony!
Thanks for the video Jimmy!

That’s the first time I’ve ever seen a 9mm used
Very rare indeed, except at the range. ;)

Haha, thanks very much James!
Hey Jimmy are you ok?? You keep sending out this look like something is going on.. LOL LOL LOL,, Listen I got your back.. Great work Jimmy.. FROM TOM..
All good, haha, lots of odd jobs going on makes me loopy. ;)
I watch this other mechanic on YT and he uses a cupcake/muffin tray to organize his bolts...
That is certainly a good option.
I also sometimes use a hardware drawer with the lid removed.
Lots of options.

Thanks very much! Each time I do one they get a little easier, at least when they’re designed well. ;)
Hopefully you got double rate for this!

Yeah, if it was mine I’d probably try and reglue it. Or find a clean used one that hasn’t delaminated.

Got em all sorted! ;)
