I have never seen a iron that small, so cute. I love to work with beewax but never tried with iron only with my embossing tool. Now I learned how to make it smooth as glass. Great! Thank you Debbie! I love Susan's kit as you know. Hugs!
It is a cutie. Doesn’t get as hot as a standard iron, but it’s convenient and easy to use! I think using an iron also helps move the wax across the paper better. Let me know if you try it.Hugs, my friend!
Thank you for the demo! Now that I have the Something Buggy journal in my hands I can appreciate the effect it gives the papers! I will give this a try!
We gave plenty of bees wax because my husband is a bee keeper. I have always put parchment paper over the wax and have found some ruff patches. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas. I will be trying the heat gun soon. Love the smoothness. I think the lines from your printer comes from the printer setting. Is your printer on a glossy paper setting. It should be set on a Matt finish setting. Hope this helps. And thanks again for your helps!!! Your papers are beautiful!!!!
Yay! I hope it works for you. And thank you for the printer tip - but unfortunately that’s not the problem. The settings were all correct and it only happened on that one sheet. I’ll test some others to see if it happens again - will clean the print heads as well. Hopefully it was just a fluke! 😊
I bet those lines will go away if you go to the printer settings and clean the printer head or recalibrate it. This is a great alternative for those people who’s printers won’t print on vellum! Have you found any issues with wax bleeding to other pages throughout your journals? Thanks for sharing your process Debbie!
I have not had any wax bleed. But, I am basically wiping it away from the surface of the paper - I’m guessing that may help prevent any bleed issues. Yes - I definitely need to give both of my printers a good cleaning and some TLC! 😁 Thanks, Amanda.
Thank you! That depends. I wouldn’t want to fold them as the wax could cause cracking on the fold. When I do this technique for folios in a journal I usually fold first. Then the fold is where it’s sewn so if there is a little cracking it doesn’t hurt anything. Hope that helps!
Thank you ma'am! I'm going to do this for my printed paper dolls (In the 19th century, they coat on their paper dolls with beeswax).
Awesome! Have fun!

Yes! You absolutely can do this! Have fun. 😁
This is a wonderful way to finish the papers!

A great tutorial !
Thank you so much!
this is very cool!!!

Beautiful! Do you think this technique would work to protect my nautical charts?
