Yes, this is so fun. I also use encustic wax on my journalpages. If you just let the iron work a bit more slowly, you don’t need this much wax. Hugs from Sweden.😉👍🏻😊
Love this idea, haven't tried it with wax yet but have tried it by rubbing baby oil onto paper with a cotton pad, this gives a good transparent effect. Lots of love.
Thank you Tina for a really interesting take on the napkins. I sometimes just use my glue stick to stick it to the paper, also gives a lovely texture, almost like fabric. Loved bees wax done on its own, looked so tactile. Thank you, once again, for a very informative tutuorial. Loved it. Have a wonderful day with the family, stay safe and well. Blessings and hugs Diana
Thank you so much Diana, I am really pleased that you enjoyed the video. I have only used a glue stick for decoupage a couple of times, but you are so right, it gives an awesome texture doesn't it? Hope you're having a nice weekend, stay safe x
Hi Tina, I love using this idea, but I can't get hold of bees wax so I grate perfumed candles, like pink with rose scent, lilac with a lavender scent, and they make beautiful scented envelopes for journals,,,and I use nice wrapping papers too but without any paper backing ,enjoy it can be addictive tfs xxx Aussie Christmas Greeting to you
Using scented candles is great idea. Makes journal smell nice. Gonna try that. I dyed some paper with Vanilla Extract. Used a paint brush to apply. Wanted a journal with nice smells. It worked great! Also one I sprinkled with Ground Cloves. Anorher good smelling journal paper. I'm so glad junk journal crafters love to SHARE their great ideas. It makes this craft such a wonderful time. Extra special. Thanks!!
Thank you for posting this. I have a whole bag of various candle pieces that I threw in (spent wax from scent burners, etc) that I was going to donate to a craft center that collects odds and ends that people usually throw away and they provide crafts for kids. I never got around to taking it over and now with COVID everything is shut down. Maybe I will try this with regular wax!
I have used candle wax on my journal covers but I have never played with bees wax, i'll have to get some. I never seem to have any luck finding napkins that aren't overpriced, so I will try it on paper or even tissue paper. Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of your waxed napkins. Thanks for the great ideas!
Napkins are just so beautiful aren't they? We don't have a great selection over here to be honest, but I have been sooooo fortunate and have been gifted so many beautiful ones. I think tissue paper will be great too x
I’ve got some to try for the food wraps, but you do need some essential oil or something (cant remember without finding the video) to help with the preserving and as antiseptic, there are several TH-cams on it
Hi Tina, I also discovered bees wax recently, it's fun hey ! I scored a great travel iron at Aldi ( who irons on holiday ! ) I am in Australia but U. K shops seem similar to ours. I used a cheap wooden chopping board to iron on. Thanks for sharing, Merry Christmas.julie
Lol, you are so right Julie, who irons on holiday!!!!! ???? Haha. Great idea to use the chopping board too. I didn't realise that you had similar shops to ours x
I love this technique. Thank you. After your video with paper, I found a working iron at the thrift store after you recommended nit using my regular one. Glad I did as it left a tiny bit! Going to now try this.
SO very lovely! I love playing with the beeswax and napkins! From what I have seen on YT, it's best not to use a steam iron or any iron with holes in the bottom. I guess they get clogged up from the wax and cause the iron not to function properly at some point. Perhaps it takes a long time for that to happen though. My friend uses baking paper over the top of the wax so that it doesn't mess up the iron and it seems to work well. Great fun! TFS the inspiration, Tina!
Thank you Gail, I had seen some using greaseproof paper. I hadn't heard about the holes, but I will keep you posted if it causes any problems going forward x
I almost bought napkins today...good thing I have a reason to go back to get them! I did finally find a thrift store iron, and I have wax, so I’ll report back...it is the white wax beads!
Lol, sorry to make you have to go back to the store!! Fantastic that you managed to get an iron from a thrift store, yes I wish I had bought the white pellets. Have fun x
I just ordered some beeswax. I saw Artymaze using it too. I can’t remember if I ordered from Amazon or AliExpress. If Amazon I’ll get it in a few days. If AliExpress I will be doing it this spring. 😁 Looks like loads of fun. I ordered a tiny iron too.
Hi Tina! ❤️⭐️🎄 Watching this beautiful video of your beeswax application. This is such a pretty application for sure! A wonderful way to use these gorgeous napkins...love it!!♥️ So I am fussy cutting your beautiful Candied Christmas pages, in hopes of using these glorious ephemera for Christmas cards... so so excited!!! Obviously most of my cards will arrive after Christmas but, I think they will be well received, Tina 💗 Bought some International stamps in hopes of mailing some to my new UK friends, like you!! So thankful that I discovered your wonderful channel, as you are so inspiring, encouraging, positive and cheerful!! You have made this year much more bearable, so thank you so much for sharing your life and family with us! God Bless You and your family in this holiday season!🎄⭐️♥️ Your friend from Washington state, Lori♥️

I would love to receive a card, thank you. Thank you so much for your kindness, and support Lori, it is so very much appreciated. Stay safe, and have a wonderful Holiday Season too x
I did this but used grated candle wax and it worked exactly the same. I also put the napkin on grease proof paper so it didn’t stick and turned out like a glassine bag. Xx

I’m sure that tiny one is hard. Of course you are using the worlds largest pair of scissors. I don’t like the layered butterfly at all. You covered up to much of the napkin. I love the wax napkin. Great new tips for bees wax Tina.
What fun projects Tina!! Maybe you could try some powder to get rid of the"sticky" feeling on the napkin? I love what you did with the tri-fold napkin ... So pretty. Thanks so much for sharing! I have 2 bags of Bees Wax that I haven't opened yet. One yellow and one white. I keep meaning to play with them, and now I think that I will 😃 Thanks for the inspiration ❣️
It's really fun playing with the beeswax Eileen, have fun with yours. I actually wish I had bought the white, so it's nice that you have both to experiment with. x
This must be the napkin & bees wax you mentioned to me last week. Maybe the acid in coffee-dyed paper makes it harder to stick. I love how you just jump into things you've never done. You are very brave. I love using a lot of different papers, or different treatments on the paper. So seems bees wax paper is appropriate!!! My napkins I ordered just arrived today. Still have to get a small iron. It does look fun!!! It looks like text showed thru when you waxed napkin onto the no-text side??? Do the adhesives stick to the waxed paper or fall off later??? Maybe you need to iron them on??!! With a few beads of bees wax??? All good here. Thanks, Austin, TX USA
Fantastic that you now have your stash of napkins to play with. I have found the beeswax to be quite good at sticking the napkin down. I don't think the text showed through from the other side? Have fun playing with your napkins, I have heard others use their normal iron with the beeswax, by laying some greaseproof paper in between the iron and the wax. So please all is good where you are x
Hi Tina, I was just wondering if the gluing held up? I love this idea but I am concerned that anything stuck on will come off easily. Hugs to you and have a fantastic Christmas.
I REALLY want to try this!! Have finally ordered a huge batch of napkins from Etsy and am anxious to play. My question is about your iron, with steam holes in it won't they clog up and cause issues?? I think I will try to find one that is just a flat base, no holes. Such fun, thank you. 💖 I just went off to Amazon and put the white pellets on my wish list! (they are much more expensive in US)
Oh how exciting that you have ordered some napkins! They are so fun to play with. I have no idea about the clogging of the holes in the iron I'm afraid. I don't think they would clog though, because as soon as the iron gets hot, the wax re-melts and would come out. I wish I had ordered the white pellets, I think they were a similar price over here if I recall. Have fun x
