I'm making a pot right now! I live on the East Coast and we are waiting on a snow storm and I cant think of a better meal than Pho to enjoy on a "shut in" day!! Lovely family and a lovely recipe, thank you for sharing with us! For those who have never tried this, TRY IT!!!!!!! It is fresh and delicious and fills you up, but not out!
ok so I actually made it the next day cause I did the crock pot thing.... I am so shocked that it tastes just like the restaurants... my house smells amaze balls! ty so much for this fool proof recipe!!
Don't know if you still doing this, but thank you so much for sharing. We had pho in Vietnam about 3 years ago and ever since try to get the perfect authentic recipe. Love the video and love your mom.
i like roasting the onion before tossing it into the soup base gives it a heartier rich flavor. also heating the star anise in a small frying pan releases more of the aroma before tossing it into a satchel into the pot.
stir it around on a frying pan for a few minutes on medium heat until you can smell the aromatic scents from the spices. once you can smell the spices take all of it and put it into a mesh satchel or coffee filter tied up w/ some string. just toss in this spice satchel into the pot while the meat is simmering for hours.
OMG! My dad loves pho, I can't wait to show him this video. He recently had a procedure done at the hospital and before he even went in he said he wanted pho afterwards to make him feel better :)
Making our first batch of homemade Pho right now. My mom is in town and its her favorite soup We are using thinly sliced sirloin that I seared in pan. added some mushrooms because we have them! smells great in here Thank you for the great video
Great info. I was low cooking the spice pouches far too long. I thought it had to be in the pot for hours. Still was tasty. I make a lot of this soup as it is very filling, and tasty. I also add thinly sliced raw Fillet of Beef to my hot bowl of soup just as I commence to eat, just like the cooks do in the restaurant. I am not sure about the early use of salt to help clean the meat. I also don't add any salt until all cooking is done, except for the vegetables. Salt draw out the moisture from meat. I add salt in with vegetables when cooking to help keep their colour. When all is done, then I add salt and Vietnam Fish Sauce to taste. I make a lot of the soup with bones that I can later use to heat up and then add simmered meat and veg along with the spice pouch which saves time when in a hurry. Great video. Namaste and care, mhikl
Thank you so much for the recipe, Christine! I love Pho. I used to live in US and there were a pretty big Vietnamese community near my house, so we went there to eat as often as almost once a week. I live in Japan now, and it seems a little difficult to buy some of the ingredients, but I'll definitely try it! Thanks again. :)
Thank you and your mom for doing this! I've been wanting to learn to make Pho ever since I went to Vietnamese restuarant year ago. I can eat this all day! lol Thanks again!!
A lot of work, but definitely a must, I loooove Vietnamese food, and this is one of my favorite dishes, I think I go at least once a week to my closest restaurant :) I have to make it at home !! Thanks for sharing ... Thanks to ur mom !!
I was taught to cook pho couple years back and this is how it should be done. I use five or six different herbs instead of the ready made soup base. I am itching to cook pho again after watching this :-)
your family is so cute, i love these videos so much! thank you for the pho recipe, i definitely want to make this soon! i never would have felt like it was something i could make at home until now!
for all the videos ive seen, the others used onions, star anise, cinammon sticks, cardamons on grill or burn it to bring the aroma out, then add into the broth
OMGGG! YESSSS. Remember when you tweeted that picture of your pho bowl a while back? I freaking saved that picture bc it legitimately looked like the PERFECT bowl of pho. I am a pho-freak (or pho-reak haha) if you couldn't tell! Haha This recipe is so similar to my mom's (but we aren't vietnamese)!! :) Thank youuu and your mom! Shes so sweet!
I don't know if it's just me but I usually scorch the onion and ginger before putting it in the broth. And I also use coriander seed and cinnamon stick in addition to flavour the broth. Looks delicious though, Cheers!
Thank you for the crockpot tip! You are adorable. I don’t add nouc mam to my pho, either. Too stinky. Instead, I offer it to the individual to add to their soup bowl as desired.
Love love pho. I usually go to a Vietnamese restaurant for the authentic soup. I also make my own soup at home but its more of a Cambodian style. I prefer Vietnamese pho. So good!
Thank you for sharing! I'm Hmong and I have to say, we make Pho a little different! Hehe my sister always says she prefers eating at the Vietnamese restaurants, now I can show this to her and we can make it ^_^ Very helpful! Thanks again!!!
Thanks for sharing! I love PHO! One thing though, you guys shouldn't boil the rubber band on the green onions. Even though you didn't cook it for long, there are still a lot of toxins getting released. In general, I avoid plastic or rubber from heat.
finally, a video about making pho that actuallly showed the process to get a nice clear broth.. yummmzzz.. thanks for the video. gonna go make pho now lol
Pho in a crock pot! What a great idea! Much safer than cooking it overnight like my parents used to do. LOL! I think charring your onion, ginger, etc., would add a greater depth of flavor. Would be great if you gave approximate amounts of what and how much spices were used if the packet was not available. Regardless, I got some great ideas of how to simplify pho from your video. Keep the cooking vids coming!! :)
My family and I eat pho like almost 3 times in a month. haha. Its just sooo good!!! Thanks for sharing how you do your pho!! :D I love Pho, its the best Vietnamese food ever!!!
Thank you for this video! I have always loved Pho, it reminds me of the Thai "Kuy Tiaw" noodle soup. Now I can make this at home without having to buy the premade broth.
This looks so good!! I bought a packet of the instant broth from my local vietnemese store but couldnt figure out what veggies to use after its added. Thanks!!
Well done! I first moved to Portland, OR about 5 years ago and recently tried both beef and chicken pho, and I'M ADDICTED. I tried to make my own, but, it didn't work ;( I like how the correct pronounciation of pho is formed in a question! :D
my dad just loves it so much, we usually go to eat pho 2 times a week, we just love the flavour rich soup so much
What a great mom you have. Looks delicious. Can't wait to try this out.

🎉Thank You Mom and Daughter for the best Pho Video” Now I can eat restaurant Pho at home❤
This is the most detailed and perfect video I have seen about Vietnamese beef rice noodles. How to cook rice noodles is also very uniqu
stir it around on a frying pan for a few minutes on medium heat until you can smell the aromatic scents from the spices. once you can smell the spices take all of it and put it into a mesh satchel or coffee filter tied up w/ some string. just toss in this spice satchel into the pot while the meat is simmering for hours.
This is what I thought as well. More flavor this way. I am making this tonight!
OMG! My dad loves pho, I can't wait to show him this video. He recently had a procedure done at the hospital and before he even went in he said he wanted pho afterwards to make him feel better :)
