    Thank you both so much. I’m so grateful. 24+ years paying in to SS then a second career to teacher for 10 years, teaching public high school until age 60, not knowing that it would mean my SS would be cut by hundreds per month! A wrong has been righted for so many people.

    Thanks for your efforts to get this passed. I retired in 2006 from federal employment and have been through the mill financially ever since. Hopefully I will be able to dig myself out of the hole that WEP put me in. Sen Markey is definitely one of the good guys. We need more of his kind in the Senate. (Your facebook was a lifeline for me Dec 20 when I was wondering if we would get a final vote before midnight.) Thanks again.

    • @paulg3316
      @paulg3316 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It does apply to Federal Employees who retired under CSRS. Anyone hired in 1984 or later is in FERS & paid SS so the WEP/GPO never applied to them. Employees hired before 1984 were in CSRS & didn’t pay SS but if they had 40 quarters from previous or post employment they can get SS but the WEP/GPO applied.

    Husband died at age 52 of Cancer, after years over 30 year in Social security! I was working in law-enforcement,when I was age 67, in 2013 collected my spouse benefits,then in 2014, retired and went on PERS. Social Security took every penny of my husbands benefits away. When needing it the most!
    Explain that to me.? I worked as long as I could!

    • @josephcalp1604
      @josephcalp1604 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      The reason why is that when both spouses pay into Social Security, they only can receive the higher of one benefit, not both benefits. Now you will get a handout that the 97 percent who have paid into Social Security for more than 30 years will have to pay.

      Do you think the 20 Senators who voted "Nay" (Cancun Cruz, McConnell, Grassley, etc., go back to their States and crow and take credit for the passage of H.R. 82? And why did 16 Republican Senators not cosponsor the bill all along and then suddenly vote "Yea"? Because Trump endorsed the Social Security Fairness Act on Dec. 16th at Mar-a-Lago with the Police Fraternal Order? Hypocrites!

I do wonder if retirees will receive full back compensation for Social Security payments that had been clawed back from payments from when they first retired…or if only future checks will reflect the full amounts which they had rightly earned. I am conflicted about this. As a retired LEO I think I will be a recipient of some benefit. However, I DID NOT pay SSI payments from 1981 - 2005. Instead, I paid 6% to a City Pension System and 6% to a State Pension. I have been receiving payment from those two systems since 2006. I also receive a small SSI payment for earnings before and after my LEO career. So, I feel like I really might be receiving an additional benefit I did not pay for. That said, I will accept it if it is due to me under the law. The good part is, I'll recycle it back into the economy buying necessities for my family.

I’m actually going to get mine forgiven after 148 payments when I was only required to make 120 payments! Thank you to everyone who has made these two criminal programs be held accountable for their theivery! It’s a miracle and LIS, I finally believe the government can be held responsible for stealing from citizens!

    The wealthiest of Americans do not pay a fair share of taxes.
    One specific entitlement, namely the tax cap, is a huge problem.
    Always going to be a budget shortfall because Congress refuses to force the wealthy to pay the same tax percentage as the middle class.
    FYI: Trump cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans.
    He said doing this would cause a trickle down effect leading to greater prosperity.
    The wealthiest did acheive greater prosperity because they were given a sweet deal on taxation.
    The trickle down effect is Trump pissing down our backs and telling us it's raining.
    Now we got DOGE run by Musk. this is going to be catastrophic for the middle class.

This brand of politician is not looking out for the middle class. They did identify the need to fix the system. Well do it on the wages of people who can handle the higher effective tax. How about raising the threshold for high income earners?

    This is so wrong, despite the fact this will double my monthly SS payment from $600 to $1,200. My problem is honesty. Like most of you, I will collect every penny I put into the SS within my first three to five years of payments. And because the average age in the USA is about 80, most of us will collect SS far longer than 5 years. But because SS is probably the largest Ponzi Scheme in the history of the world, few know or feel the actual bite/cost. Of course I understand why the vast majority of you are happy, you're getting more money. But you're either intellectually dishonest, or ignorant of SS facts.

      @ckg-mr5uq Your not talking about WEP because they got paid. As far as GPO, spouses that paid into Social Security can only get the higher of one benefit, not both. Why spouses who didn' pay into Social Security and receive a non covered pension get both? Nothing but a political handout.

      @josephcalp1604 So getting the money their deceased spouses paid into the system is a handout? Don't you know that members of congress get pensions and social security plus congress " borrows" from it and pays none of it back. I appreciate your reply and look forward to your further thoughts on this.

      @ckg-mr5uq My thoughts is that spouses who paid into Social Security for more than 30 years should get their own plus their spouse benefit. Come Jan 3rd my main focus is to get the repeal updated to peoples records so the WEP and GPO has stopped and retro benefits paid as soon as possible.

      @@josephcalp1604 I understand appreciate you took the time to answer.
      But were payments only to those who paid for thirty years people who paid into it 291/2 years would get nothing. For that reason I agree with the law as it stands, but appreciate your thoughts on this.

      I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of
      information can be a big hurdle. I've been
      making more than $200k passively by just
      investing through an advisor, and I don't have
      to do much work. Inflation or no inflation, my
      finances remain secure. So I really don't blame
      people who panic.

      how would you recommend i enter the crypto market? I am also looking at studying some traders and copying their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally. What's your take on this approach? and How can i reach her, if you don't mind me asking??
