Thank you Tim, your staff and everyone at TRTA for your tireless work to repeal the WEP and GPO! Also, thanks to ATPE and all who emailed and called their legislators.I hope the voters will remember those legislators like Ted Cruz who voted against the repeal.

Thank you Mr Lee for all your hard work from a native Kentuckian. The TRTA has a special place in my heart. Being able to overcome the high and mighty senator Cruz is especially noteworthy. I hope they publish all the house and senate members who voted against this.

Saturday…..thank everyone for your hard work for your teachers!!! My husband of 47 years passed away in 2018. I receive $0 of his social security because I have been a career teacher for 30 years and receive a pension. It has been more than difficult. I am 76 years old and still substitute to make ends meet. I am so very thankful to begin to enjoy my retirement, without fear of losing my house. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

God Bless you Tim Lee for your perseverance advocating for all Your work. I was denied my widow benefits in 1978. I was FWISD Teacher and they said I must chose weather keeping my job ❤to get my benefits or receiving SS. I chowed to work. My children were received their benefits, but not me. I am know near 87 recovering from heart surgery. As soon as I’m able I’ll reclaim my widow benefits if my health allows me.
Thank you again Tim and all TRTA for persistent advocation to many of all teachers and public workers.

Thank you so very much to all who have successfully won this fight for fairness. I will benefit by filing with Social Security as an independantly eligible spouse of a career federal civil servant (35 years as a civilian mechanical engineer under the D.O.D.). After that career, then immediately began twelve years ago in private sector (and continue to present)as a chief engineer. Repeal of WEP and GPO will definitely make my golden years(now 68 y.o.) more affordable. Sincerely extending my heartfelt appreciation to all for your dedication, drive and determination put forth in this long battle. Well done.

Thank-you. Yet one of your senators, Cruz, failed to vote for it !! I am grateful as I was affected by both .My widow's pension was totally wiped out, and my own meager ss was reduced by half. This correction will positively improve my financial outcome. I advocated for this change, contacted president, congress rep., senators by email and phone calls..remember they work for you!!

Thanks, Tim, for all your hard work over the years. I have been affected by this inequitable govt. decision for over 20 years while a teacher in both Ohio and Texas. I had to work two extra jobs over the years to make ends meet. What a struggle! I myself earned my SS, yet not able to collect what is due me. Yea for TRTA for fighting and the other states and organizations affected. No more taking my money!

NOW she will get to keep ALL her Social Security benefits that she earned by her hard work during her working days! It was stated by a Senator for the repeal, that of people losing benefits due to GPO, 83% are low-income females. I will sleep well tonight! Thanks to our people in Congress who stayed with this issue! THANK YOU!

Thank you, Tim, for all your profound and influential work for all these years. Please let us know how we can continue to help and watch where this is going. I agree that we need to be vigilent in protecting what we have just won back! Your stories are true in that people didn't even know or understand what was being passed in Congress in the early 1970s or how it might effect us when we retired. I can't even believe that it's taken 40 years to turn this huge discrepency and these discriminating laws around. How awful this has been for so many for too long. I have just talked with several friends of mine in Leander, Texas who are teahers and have encouraged them to join TSTA, ASAP, to continue to support our interests as retired educatiors. Thank you so much for your guidance and support!!

I remember writing Kay Bailey Hutchison many years ago begging her to vote for doing away with the WEP and GPO… (before computers so I wrote by snail mail) she wrote back and said “why do teachers think they deserve something they have not earned”…….that sate has come to my mind over and over as the border has been wide open and every person coming into America get a credit card for $3500 that is renewed every month. FINALLY! Some justice!

The "fairness" act will distinctly and only serve to benefit government workers while the private sector will remain invisible, excluded, and utterly overburdened in order to support government workers at now more than 30% of the population! Their SS concerns will be entirely ignored under the "fairness" act because fairness always only means government workers silly private sector! What a boon for "all" of America. How absolutely fair and undiscriminatory! Congratulations government workers!!

It is now high time for these folks to live a humane life, where they don't have to beg and live in poverty as they have all these years.
