    The oil is tenacious, sticks around, correct. There's a few good YT videos that say you have to really wash well with Dawn dish liquid and a washcloth, wash three times - very tenacious oil. Dawn beat Tecnu which is a lot more expensive.

      @BoldCautionProductions Thank you for posting. 🙂 We keep Dawn on hand, it's very effective...I feel like it almost has super powers, honestly. When it comes to tough things to clean off, I'm often amazed.

    I do think the price is beyond exorbitant. Outright gouging, in fact. If it reliably works, its worth it. BUT...does it?

    • @BeingBarton
      @BeingBarton  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Captain Gort I think the Zanfel is really for specific outbreaks and it doesn't work for all people. It's stupid expensive, it's a gamble...but it did give me relief.

    Hi there. The problem with zanfel is strictly the amount you get for sure. I had poison on (of course) my groin area. Literally, no where else, at all! Zanfel saved my life in this case! But here's the deal... using it wrong or with only the basic instructions did not work all that well for me. First, this product is pulling that urushiol oil out of your skin from the deepest layers, but only if you force the oil out of the skin when using it.
    So.. when I used it the first few times, all I did was scrub into the skin for a little while and rinse it off, also washing it with soap after just in case, and than washing my hands thouroughly. (Not doing this part got some spots on 2 of my fingers, which I easily removed right after in a minute with zanfel again, lol.) Now, scrubbing into the skin like this removed the swelling and decreased itch, but not at all did it remove all of the oil. So the next wash, I decided to go deep. This time, I did not scrub, I pulled at the skin as a went into it. This finally worked for the last time. Only when I applied the product and used my fingers to pull the oil out of the skin more forcefully for a good amount of time, did the itch end once and for all. So when using this product, it's best used as if you were digging the oil out, and not scrubbing over the rash. Removing oil from the top of skin works this way, but removing the oil from inside the skin has to be removed from within the deep layers. If you don't remove it all in the first wash, you do it again with this technique a few more times in a day, and you will remove it all. Literally curing yourself within 24 hours, like I did (or I would have lost my mind!)

      @jacobsparks9622 Thank you so much for sharing tips from your experience. I do wish more came in the tube...and it takes a minute to get the hang of how to get the most out of what you do get. 😅

    Me too! Ran to the store to get this. The initial itch relief is great. but my poison ivy rash persists and I used the whole ounce in two treatments... I'm not worse, but I'm not better. Lucky guy in that photo on the box!

      Eleanor Barsic Yes! 😂 I have a love/hate relationship with this product because it is the ONLY product that will take away my itch (even for a few hours)...but the itch comes back! 😫 For $40, I wish it was a gallon bottle. 🤣

    • @eleanorbarsic8065
      @eleanorbarsic8065 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've been continuing to treat when ever I feel itchy, with a dawn soap wash and "extra strength itch relief gel" from CVS. It's been feeling just as good and for $5! But not disappearing. Have you tried "extreme tecnu" scrub? Heard good things about that.

    • @BeingBarton
      @BeingBarton  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Eleanor Barsic I need to go back and give Tecnu another try. I've used it in the past...it wasn't memorable, though. And I love your $5 fix! We use dawn and I have a ton of topical anti-itch creams. I enjoy the exfoliant aspect of the zanfel...I feel like I get to scratch my itch for a couple of minutes rather than just putting something over it and hoping the itch starts to ease up. 😅 That you for the advice!

    Thanks for the video . Yeah that stuff is expensive ive tried using it with no luck and i definitely agree its way to expensive for not enough to solve the problem ... as i type this im covered in the rash and was looking for preventive products because i get exposed almost weekly this time of the year and have no choice . I usually use technu to was down with after i know i was exposed. Technu is the best ive found so far as long as you wash from head to tow within a few hours of exposure. I heard there is a vaccine you can get yearly called PDC- APB but i cant find any one who has it or figure out how to get it . I need that like water in the dessert my summers are miserable.

      @Me Me Thank you for commenting. 🙂 This company reached out to us, Zanfel. I think that the product can be a life saver for certain instances. The high cost makes it a risky purchase if you are pinching pennies. But! The feeling of relief from itch feels like it's worth a million dollars when you are suffering! 😅

      @JT JTRS From what I can tell, this product is a real hit-or-miss. It's designed for use under specific conditions...and even then, it's a high price to pay for temporary relief.

    • @bethhogan2866
      @bethhogan2866 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used it with success. I kept it as a paste. Had the best relief of anything I tried. Totally worth the money for me. Use full strength without diluted.

    How long did it take? I think steroid shot was working well

    • @BeingBarton
      @BeingBarton  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @sungtube7055 The Zanfel began removing the itch immediately. But it didn't treat the poison ivy. The rash takes time to clear up. Topical creams can help wash away the oils and provide temporary relief. But it isn't the same thing as a steroid shot. They worked together to help me. 😎👍

    outrageous price. Just wash arms/legs with soap, towel and friction within 2-5 hours of exposure.

    • @BeingBarton
      @BeingBarton  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Carl Hammill It is such a high price. I can spot poison ivy from across the yard now, thanks to the cost of relief this episode! If you've been in an area with leafy plants you can't identify, wash, wash, wash. We appreciate your comment.

  • @theclearsounds3911
    @theclearsounds3911 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Zanfel did absolutely nothing for my poison ivy, and I think it did nothing for yours, either. I ended up taking the steroid Prednesone, and that is the only thing that worked for me. I think your steroid shot is the only thing that worked for you. Don't waste your time or money with Zanfel! Dishwashing liquid is good to remove the oil, but only before you know the oil is on you. Once you start breaking out in the rash, it's too late for anything but steroids. All the rest of your video is good and informative.

    • @BeingBarton
      @BeingBarton  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @TheClearSounds Thank you for commenting. 🙂 Zanfel is not a cure by any stretch, and the steroid shot was my true source of relief, absolutely. I think if I had gone straight to the doctor, I wouldn't have had to deal with sleepless nights over the itching at all...but because I spent so much on this cream, I dragged my feet. 🤷‍♀️ Now I wash my hands/arms off with dish soap every time I work in the yard. Better safe than sorry! We appreciate your insight and advice. Blessings. 🌻
