Indeed. Julie Newmar was my favorite until I played Arkham City and did the Catwoman parts. I still love Julie, but that Catwoman was much snarkier and more of a tease. She took Batman a lot less seriously and let him know it. It was great.
I still don't know why Catwoman have Leo take the chest, treasure and all, off to her vehicle, then tell him to get in the van and go back to the hideout. Or another useless errand while she made a clean getaway. Of course, it is rather skimpy for a treasure that was supposed to be from a dozen ships. Maybe some other, smarter criminal looted it years ago and left behind a chest full of fake gold and junk jewelry. I love that cave. Stalagmites, stalactites, and a perfectly level floor. And the matte drawing at the far end.
You know even as a young child when I saw this, and she said "I can't let go." I was like "Well no it's all tangled up in her hand...um, paw. I too thought "Why can't Batman just jump to the other side, pull her up and arrest her?!?!" One other time she "died" too. What's funny to me is the other two catwomen, namely Eartha Kitt & Lee Meriweather (from the movie version) I cannot picture dying, but Julie's Catwoman, for some odd reason it's believable to me. She'd fall to another "death" in season 2, and even in the recently released Batman '66 animated movie she dies there too! Hang on Cat Woman!!!
Even Bat earplugs wouldn't do squat against "20 thousand deciBels", since 140 is the volume of a shotgun without ear protection and the Bel scale is logarithmic. (I know the writers probably meant 20 thousand Hertz, the upper threshold of the human ear.)
What confounds me is Batman does not hesitate beating up male villians and locking them up. Women in sexy bondage wear he never strikes, but lets them die a number of times. It reeks of anti feminism here.
In the cave, couldnt Batman and Robin jump to the other side and both pull Catwoman to saftey? Catwoman also fell to her death in the West river. Does that mean she has only 7 lives left?
Where did Catwoman get those tigers? From the Gotham Zoo? Can you imagine if she had lions? Batman wouldn't surive at all against the king of the jungle.
Okay so I understand the argument about how Batman perhaps should have jumped over to the other side of the cliff to pull Catwoman up to save her but...suppose he did that? How would he get both her and himself back over to the other side again? Also, Catwoman, out of spite, might have tried to kill Batman since this was before Newmar's version of the character began to have romantic feelings for Batman...just something to ponder.
Catwoman couldn't make the jump because the bag was so heavy. He jumps over, grabs her hands, says, let go and I'll pull you up. She lets go, he pulls her up, they both jump back across. At least that's what I envision.

As Jackie Gleason's Ralph Kramden would exclaim "NOW WAIT A MINUTE!"...if Catwoman fell into a BOTTOMLESS pit, wouldn't she technically just fall forever and ever? How could she come back in season 2? If the pit had a bottom then yes I could see where she'd be destroyed, but Batman specifically says it is a bottomLESS pit...Ah HAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
Cat-woman you are not a nice person. Why did Robin say that? Couldn’t they have giving him a better line. By the way the Bat-armour in this episode was so anticlimactic. PS: If Robin thinks this Julie Newmar Cat-woman isn’t nice, wait until he meets Eartha Kitts Cat-woman
