- Often considered the "Holy Grail" of American muscle cars, the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is about as American as baseball and apple pie. And if you're in the market for some vintage Detroit steel that's stylish, powerful, and fun all at once, then this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle might be just what you're looking for. This is a very special car indeed, a believed-original Super Sport Chevelle (do not have build sheet) that packs a massive powerplant under the hood and connects it with a legendary bodystyle that screams performance. Sitting inside the dressed engine compartment is a behemoth 502 C.I. big-block V8, said to be putting out northwards of 502 fire-breathing horsepower! All those horses have to breathe, so that engine is hooked to a new 750 CFM 4-barrel carburetor that allows it to really scream. Other highlights inside the engine bay include a manual valve body, Hooker headers, an aluminum radiator for optimal cooling and a serpentine belt system! Torque is stomped into the pavement through a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission, which shifts nice and smooth. The exterior's laser straight, curvy bodylines are all dressed up in a gloss black paintjob that reflects like a mirror in the sun with a gorgeous finish. Stunning contrasting white rally stripes run the length of the car, from the working Cowl Induction hood all the way to the rear deck. The undercarriage of the car is very solid, with strong floors, frame rails, trunk floors, and door jambs. Opening the twin doors to the show-quality interior reveals gorgeous white vinyl trim adorning the comfy bucket seats, accompanied by a full center console and matching horseshoe shifter! Sitting inside the factory SS dashboard is a working 6000RPM tachometer and a clock as well as an original working AM/FM pushbutton radio! This gleaming '70 Chevelle is packed with other options too, including power steering, power brakes, a positraction rear axle with 4.10:1 gearing, a tilt steering wheel, custom 502 valve covers and engine decals, dual chrome mirrors, under-dash aux. gauges, and a seriously-aggressive sounding dual exhaust system. The car rides on a set of attention-grabbing 15" SS chrome wheels over Micky Thompson RWL tires for a factory-fresh, period-correct look that's tough to beat! Turn the key and this Chevelle's 502 V8 starts right up, running and driving down the road beautifully. I looked on your website and the Data plate picture is missing. It's nice it has factory Zip ties to hold the Brake line to the frame. Why does the Undercoating match what is on the Hoist arms? Malibu rocker moldings were never on a SS , good luck to the new owner.
