This is a game I grew up on, I’m 24 and have played it over 10 times probably played it first when I was 11, this game to me is the greatest game of all time
Also, when RDR1 first released in 2010, it definitely was a state of the art and top notch game at the time. Thats probably why it has aged so well over the years. Because it was Masterpiece since the very beginning. YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAWWWWWW
Yes this worth playing on PS5 especially since they updated to 60 FPS. 0:51 if you say you played on Xbox series X you didn’t play it at 60 fps. 60 fps not on Xbox unless your playing on jailbroken Xbox with modded game.
Its better than nothin. It opens up a new opertunity for new people to play the game, because I was born the year this game was made. So I never teally got to play it.
I just purchased RDR on switch, after toying around with the idea for a while. Honestly, very impressed with the game. I love the storyline, and the way the missions build character relationships. The graphics are great, and gameplay make it worth it as well. I’m hyped to make my way through it, and then play the prequel
The first time I played this game was in 2018. I played it all the way through to the end of the story line, but did not pay much attention to all the subquests, nor the various outfits John Marston was able to acquire. What I didn't know was what different modifications each outfit produced for this character within the game. That said, once I gave the game another play in 2023, I totally paid attention to all the sub-quests, and enjoyed the game immensely more than I did last round. Beyond that, what now stands out is how many one-off scenarios are built into this game, and no matter how many times I start it over from the very beginning, it's a different game each time. Greatest replay value of any video game I've experienced in my 56 years on this planet, and I couldn't recommend one single game more than this one, on any platform.
It was remastered.... in 4k and the random encounters were wildly increased. I have so much fun hunting in this game. I dont know about you but this is a wildly fun and exciting game.
Crystal Dynamics and Aspire Remaster THREE games. Tomb Raider 1,2 and 3 from the PS1 and includes ALL Gold bonus content and makes it run at 60fps and only charges 25USD for the ENTIRE Trilogy. Rockstar Games does a BASIC PS3 port and CUTS content (online) adds NOTHING new to it and wants 50USD for a old PS3 game. Anyone else see a problem here LMAO
Love RDR1, and was so close to 100% on it never finished. I got RDR2 but for some reason it never got my attention I berly got past a few missions in the beginning and never returned. Still have hope they bring RDR1 to PC.
At last...a sensible positive review of a beloved game of millions and hopefully more to come when it is re-released. I commend you on not being influenced by the hatred flowing right now. It should be about the game not Rockstar, which is the path you've taken. The old graphics give it a spaghetti western feel for me, can't wait to get back in the saddle again.
There is no reason to have not made it 60fps on ps5 and impreved the render distance a bit on ps4 ps4 pro and ps5 and improve shadow quality. All that will only improve the look of the game without taking away its distinct style also it has no right being $50 even if it had all the improvements i listed
I'm impressed with the 60 fps. I had no idea before how much of a difference it makes. I have the latest Sony 4k TV & the game looks just as good if not the same as rdr2. Sometimes, I forget that I'm playing rdr1, not rdr2. But that's just my opinion
Just started playing this game for the first time, so far it’s a great game graphics’s can be overlooked and I’ll agree with you the horses do have a mind of their own sometimes
I loved how you explained how the NPC's feel alive and how yoh said it was so hilarious and perfect. Very good worke mate !! Hahaha im laughing all the way across the pond in Merica
I like the first one especially because of nostalgia, being the first game I played where it had side adventures such as hunting, gambling, etc.; it's been a while since I've played either, but as charismatic as Dutch is I feel like with most games that makes a sequel/prequel fail to rise out the shadow of the first game and that's exactly how I would describe the main story; Red Dead 2 would've been a better game if it created its own iconic story; the most redeeming quality about the game is the exploring/hunting that surpasses Red Dead 1 and when I play it again soon you can safely bet that's what I'll be focusing on the most. P.S. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the first game I remember you couldn't travel anywhere on the map at will because you're laying low and lawmen will try to arrest you if you go to the Great Plains or Mexico from the start of the game, whereas in 2 you can go anywhere; I personally enjoyed this restriction back in the day because it made traveling to new areas/unlocking new hunting grounds/items etc. feel like a reward and didn't give you everything, which is something I personally don't like about a lot of new games that make you feel like you're just along for the ride.
@@GeorgeFloyds Been a while since I posted this, but I believe I was referring to you can't go to Mexico until you unlock the area though story progression and the same goes with the last unlockable place, The Great Plains. Both games were fun, merely like the first one better
Thanks for this video. Just now getting into the Red Dead games and this confirmed what I'd already suspected. Really looking forward to getting immersed in this game!
I don’t know why I didn’t enjoy the game properly, I loved Rdr2 but rdr1 and even John didn’t click with me, I feel like i was getting pretty bored with all the random missions that were in the game, I thought I was gonna love this game but it slightly disappointed me, I’ll try to replay it in the future but perhaps my expectation were too high
For me the toughest thing was after playing RDR2 for so many hours RDR1 just feels so empty and shallow in comparison. It was obviously a fantastic game at the time and the graphics and gameplay still hold up well, but RDR2 just improves on every single aspect of the game.
if rockstar north and san diego made this game back in 2010 it would be GOLD rockstar north with the graphics and the overload of action, environment, ambience, lighting and atmosphere rockstar san diego refining and defining everything down to the last bit and making the world building amazing
I played it in 2010 when I was 17, I had a cigarette in my mouth the entire time lol. It was so far ahead of it's time back then, look at any game made around those same years, it's on par or better in detail and a seemingly living feeling world than fallout and Skyrim (in a way). I knew when I was playing it at 17, there wasn't gonna be a game that beat it for many many years for me. I only have a switch so I have been playing it for the past month and a half, it's fucking great, it runs well enough for me on the switch, no crashes, or crazy glitches, or corrupted saves so far. If you only have a switch like me (financial issues, it's my first console since Xbox 360, I didn't make enough to buy myself a new console at any point, and I'm too stubborn to get a loan), this is a game you must add to it's library. *Chefs Kiss🎉 Edit: Don't smoke cigarettes, I've happily quit with vaping (using juice that I know the ingredients of, and a ceramic coil, so no metal is being heated, so inb4 someone says "they're worse for you than cigarettes!" You're wrong, that's propaganda coming from tobacco companies, they also claim they target children with flavors that don't taste like burnt leaves, it's more like we can pick what it tastes like, so why wouldn't we make every flavor of it, ya know? Idk I just think the war that the cigarette companies have on nicotine vapes is completely ridiculous, I can run 4 times longer now without becoming winded, among other health benefits from switching to vape, and I'm not a cringe cloud chaser, I just have a pod system with the highest level of nicotine, because I love nicotine lol.
I just played and finished RDR1 for the first time ever a few days ago. As someone who had never played either 1 or 2 I was really impressed with the game and felt like with better graphics it could be released today and people would still love it like they did and do today. My expectations for RDR2 are immense. What a masterpiece
I missed out on this game I’m happy they’re bringing it back imma get it for my switch so I can play on the go, I would love for them to bring back GTA 4
Long story short, most definitely worth purchasing and playing no matter graphics and whatever. The vibe is incredible. When I first played this game 10+ years ago it gave me the chills. The music playing when you ride off alone into the wild it really made me feel alone and vulnerable, incredible if a videogame can make you feel like that.
I played this when it came out in 2010 on a PS3. I enjoyed it and when RDR2 came out I immediately had to get that one as well. Now I have a PS5 and seeing this coming out again for PS4 means that I will be able to enjoy it once again. I'm finishing up on another play-thru of RDR2 right now, but as soon as I finish, I'll be starting this classic again. My only problem with it is that it's being sold for $50! That said, I'll fork over the money for "old-time sake." Had I never played it before, I wouldn't have the fond memories needed to steer me toward spending that kind of money for a 14 year old game.
I just started playing it after I beat RDR2 a couple times. RDR2 is so much better, but its still good and pretty addictive. Seeing everything they added to the newer 1 is pretty mind blowing in comparison. It will make you appreciate the work put into the new 1.
I finished fallout1 and fallout2 recently (1997/98) I'm 35 never played it as a kid but when I did play it? It blew me away how much detail and sophistication there is in such a ancient game Old school games used to be hard to the core and interesting to play The story was always the biggest part in those games like in baldurs gate 1 & 2 (haven't played 3 yet and I'm dying) or Neverwinter 1 To me they are timeless classics So a game from 2010 shouldn't be bad at all especially when the developers are Rock Star I grew up playing GTA1/2 I was twelve when GTA3 came out and blew our minds away I played vice city (still had the original cd until 2015 or so until my house burned down) I was there when the glorius San Andreas was released (15 YO) I grew up in the best of times I watched these games evolve It's amazing how far we progressed my fellow geeks and nerds
I remember when this game came out played it for days as a kid i think i was 14 15 maby had also such a great time with friends we only talked about this game we played together in the online mode later the dlc undead nightmare also a awsome dlc im really intrestend to see how well this game will run on the nitendo switch. Its still crazy for me to think you can play this game now on the go without a internet connection. Im also gonna rebuy it on the switch because thats my main console now. I also own a xbox series x but latley i like the more cozy games from nitendo more guess its age 😜
I’d love a PC release. Since my introduction to Red Dead Redemption was RDR2 and I don’t have a switch or any other console. So I’d love to try out RDR1.
Im loving this game on ps4. Im probably in the minority, cos I havent played it before as I mostly missed out the ps3/xbox 360 era. With rdr2 being one of my favourite all time games, I was excited for this coming to ps4. I did have some doubts when I found that it wasnt a remaster, but I find it holds up really well compared to a lot of modern games.
Played back in 2010, from beginning to end. Played the remaster recently, it's definitely worth it. Hunting is so much easier - and profitable - without weight limit. Overall, making money is much less of a problem than RDR2, and even if still incomparable in graphics and immersion, I think Rockstar nailed it with this remaster, making minor improvements, neither more nore less.
I think your issue with horse riding can b solved with going to settings and changing horse riding from horse relative to camera relative I like tank controls so I never tried camera relative
I think more credit should be given to the sound design of both red dead 1 and 2. It sounds incredible, so detailed and alive and goes a long way in creating the atmosphere and realism of the game world. Also the graphics are stunning, particularly in 2. Red Dead pushed the boundaries when it was released so it’s not surprising that it still holds up today. Great game.

The thing I’m most bummed about is the lack of multiplayer. I was really looking forward to playing it with my friends like the old days.
Having the zebra as a horse was dope
@@davidstockman1456bro I miss riding the albino buffalo that shit was so fucking dope
Bro you’re not the only one, I met some of my best friends on this game online. Grinding pikes basin before school just to get the prestige’s, then Friday comes and you see double xp weekend 😢
@@tivertonguns0341 same here lad. I met some of the coolest people on that game and had friends I use to play with that passed away. And the multiplayer was and is the only thing that reminds me of them. I don’t even like going to fort Mercer because that’s were we’d all meet up. That was 10 years ago now. Man how time flies.
@@irishshamrock6162 I’m sorry for your loss bro, everything back then seemed like such a simpler time, I’d give anything to go back in time and relive those moments, this truly was the only game that was fun to me and still is to this day and I’m praying they bring it back online for this port. Nostalgia isn’t supposed to hurt this bad but it does. I hope you’re doing well in life these days my friend
When this game released nothing could touch it graphically. I still think it looks as good as some newer games and still love playing it just as much as 2.
100%
I'll save you the 8 minutes... The answer is yes... Obviously...
Thanks
I don't even care that it wasn't redeveloped for newer consoles, I'm still going to buy it. I was obsessed with it back in the day and can't wait to play it again!
Lmao same thought I had, I bought it. Rockstar can have my money as long as they use it to make a new red dead soon.
We gonna have online?
This is a game I grew up on, I’m 24 and have played it over 10 times probably played it first when I was 11, this game to me is the greatest game of all time
Oh god, the horse carriage race at 3:09 brings back ragey memories hahah.
I love this game and will be picking it up.
I uave a question there are many horse races because i hate them
@@razvan0875 get good bitch
This will be my first time playing ever because I grew up poor lol. I got it for the switch and this video single handedly convinced me thanks!
I love it! Sure it was $50 but once you get over that it’s an amazing game that brings me back to when I was 17 and I forgot how good it was
Its better than nothin. It opens up a new opertunity for new people to play the game, because I was born the year this game was made. So I never teally got to play it.
Loved this game back in the day! The multiplayer was everything
There are many race misions in gamr because i hate them

How is it possible that the title of the video is RDR 1 Worth playing in 2023 and then throw a massive spoiler at 6:21 ...wtf dude
I love your channel so much, I just had to subscribe!
I just purchased RDR on switch, after toying around with the idea for a while. Honestly, very impressed with the game. I love the storyline, and the way the missions build character relationships. The graphics are great, and gameplay make it worth it as well. I’m hyped to make my way through it, and then play the prequel
It’s just super short.
This was the best game I ever completed. I had on the X box and I was totally immersed into a world of adventure. Awesome.
Thanks man! This was just my honest view without all the BS. Really enjoyed making it
There is no reason to have not made it 60fps on ps5 and impreved the render distance a bit on ps4 ps4 pro and ps5 and improve shadow quality. All that will only improve the look of the game without taking away its distinct style also it has no right being $50 even if it had all the improvements i listed
me remebering the amazing nostalgia playing rdr1 after 13 years such great memories D:
I prefer rd1 multiplayer then red dead online so fresh

Spoilers at 6:00 >:(
I'm impressed with the 60 fps.
Why would you spoil the ending of a game people are trying to figure out if they should get :/
Yeah, what a muppet.
I feel so lucky now because my birthday is the next day and no one wanted to celebrate my birthday with me so I can just play this all day :)
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
P.S. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the first game I remember you couldn't travel anywhere on the map at will because you're laying low and lawmen will try to arrest you if you go to the Great Plains or Mexico from the start of the game, whereas in 2 you can go anywhere; I personally enjoyed this restriction back in the day because it made traveling to new areas/unlocking new hunting grounds/items etc. feel like a reward and didn't give you everything, which is something I personally don't like about a lot of new games that make you feel like you're just along for the ride.
bro in rdr1 you could literally set a waypoint and fast travel wherever you wanted
Great review bro please make more of these
Is it still worth playing after you spoiled the story? Nice job. Anyway for the others watching it's on 6:21
Bro this game is 14 years old
Yeah this was such a dumb move on his side, I was about to buy RDR1 and now It’s ruined
why would you spoil the ending of the game without any warning? damn that sucks
he is just so stupid.
Fun fact: if you get GTA +, you can get GTA liberty city, vice city, and San Andreas, along with red dead 1 and L.A Noir for absolutely free
I agree to disagree, but that’s just my opinion of course
Except for the story. Rdr2s story is weak compared to rdr1
if rockstar north and san diego made this game back in 2010 it would be GOLD
rockstar north with the graphics and the overload of action, environment, ambience, lighting and atmosphere
rockstar san diego refining and defining everything down to the last bit and making the world building amazing
*Chefs Kiss🎉
Edit: Don't smoke cigarettes, I've happily quit with vaping (using juice that I know the ingredients of, and a ceramic coil, so no metal is being heated, so inb4 someone says "they're worse for you than cigarettes!" You're wrong, that's propaganda coming from tobacco companies, they also claim they target children with flavors that don't taste like burnt leaves, it's more like we can pick what it tastes like, so why wouldn't we make every flavor of it, ya know? Idk I just think the war that the cigarette companies have on nicotine vapes is completely ridiculous, I can run 4 times longer now without becoming winded, among other health benefits from switching to vape, and I'm not a cringe cloud chaser, I just have a pod system with the highest level of nicotine, because I love nicotine lol.
Wish we had Undead Nightmare for RDR2.
Same man!
I just played and finished RDR1 for the first time ever a few days ago. As someone who had never played either 1 or 2 I was really impressed with the game and felt like with better graphics it could be released today and people would still love it like they did and do today. My expectations for RDR2 are immense. What a masterpiece
Thanks for spoiling the end, buddy. Great job.
Thanks for ruining any desire to play the game by ruining the ending without any warning at all
What's the time stamp?
Bruh u had almost a whole ass decade or more to play it at least once so by this point it sounds like a personal problem🤷🏽♂️
Thanks for the warning
Thanks for the warning!

I missed out on this game I’m happy they’re bringing it back imma get it for my switch so I can play on the go, I would love for them to bring back GTA 4
Great feedback. Looks awesome. Definitely worth possibly buying for the Switch. Never played any of the Dead Red Redemption games.
Xbox series x does not play this game in 60 fps. This is a major point for a lot of people, so I would appreciate if you could correct that
If you've played rd1, the it's all over scene at the end of rd2 really hits different
Just started playing this game on PC for the first time today. I've been looking forward to it since RDR2.
When I got to the south part of the border I felt like a real Cowboy on a mission. On top of that The mariachi Jazz was a Chef's Kiss.
Hey I have Red Dead Redemption 1 in 2024 and it is very Awesome
Thanks you,I am installing it tonight, and maybe playing it tomorrow.
I finished fallout1 and fallout2 recently (1997/98)
I'm 35 never played it as a kid but when I did play it? It blew me away how much detail and sophistication there is in such a ancient game
Old school games used to be hard to the core and interesting to play
The story was always the biggest part in those games like in baldurs gate 1 & 2 (haven't played 3 yet and I'm dying) or Neverwinter 1
To me they are timeless classics
So a game from 2010 shouldn't be bad at all especially when the developers are Rock Star
I grew up playing GTA1/2
I was twelve when GTA3 came out and blew our minds away
I played vice city (still had the original cd until 2015 or so until my house burned down) I was there when the glorius San Andreas was released (15 YO)
I grew up in the best of times
I watched these games evolve
It's amazing how far we progressed my fellow geeks and nerds

I also own a xbox series x but latley i like the more cozy games from nitendo more guess its age 😜

I’d love a PC release. Since my introduction to Red Dead Redemption was RDR2 and I don’t have a switch or any other console. So I’d love to try out RDR1.
Oh yes it is. Got it on sale, now replaying it after so many years. I still have my OG disk on PS3. Unfortunately, my PS3’s already dead.
How can you remaster a ps3 game? Graphics haven’t changed much in 10 years
Im loving this game on ps4.
Played this game on ps3 by accident in 2013 was given to me as a gift but man did i have fun playing it
Red dead series - Best game stories of ALL TIME
I actually have this game on switch. Despite being used to a gaming PC, if you play on a monitor, the switch port isnt too bad
just ordered a physical copy off eBay, I didn't play the original. Recently played RDR2 and it was amazing, hopefully this is great too :D
I remember this game in 2010 on Xbox 360
My biggest issue has been horse riding as well. Playing it at 60 FPS on PS5 it looks awesome. Having a blast again like I did back in the day on PS3.
This game was unreal!
There are many race mision because i hate them
@@razvan0875well I'm not to fond of all the horse riding in rdr2
I think your issue with horse riding can b solved with going to settings and changing horse riding from horse relative to camera relative

Its not the age of the game its the graphics what put me off, they need to remaster it not just upgrade the resolution.

Great game.
