I didn't buy any of these reissues and I don't even want them as gifts. It is very evident that their target is the adult customer who buys several units in which only the paint color varies. It is an expensive keychain/watch with obsolete technology and zero improvements over the product from 25 years ago.
just me tho, would love if they have a rereleased like dm20 all in one device but with eggs from angelgotchi, morino, umino, devilgotchi, santa (with QoL upgrade of course since like umino notoriously difficult )
As far as the paint quality goes, I would have to say it’s pretty solid. I have a few releases myself, and every single one fades as it goes towards the back of the device however, it stays that way it does not fade anymore. I work in construction I keep mine with me all the time dangling from a lanyard outside of my pocket then gets banged around scraped and scratched like crazy and it maintains the same look that it has right out of the box which is wonderful. It’s just sad that the right out of the box isn’t as perfect as we would like.
I think the "fading"/"chipping" is because of how most of the re-releases are painted. They're essentially dipped into liquid that has had the design essentially ink-jet printed onto its surface. That could be responsible for the gradient along the sides. Either that, or they opted for a gradient so there wouldn't be a harsh cut-off of the design at the seam, and it just doesn't look good/intentional. (Personally I also don't like the ink-jet look where colors aren't solid but made up of little dots of primary colors.)
i started my modern vpet collection with one of these tama gen1 (flames/ black) and almost didnt continue.... got a digimon english purple x2 by happenstance and i was off to the races from there !! my absolute favorite is making a digimon into a bead charm for a kandi cuff to give away at raves cus they are so cheap now lolol
What bugs are there? It would be interesting to know! It’s like carrying around a tiny ”smoke alarm” when it beeps, in my opinion and turning off the sound is also stressful unless you learn how long time it takes for it to get hungry etc. 7:19 The sound before the game starts is also painful. Having one game isn’t as rewarding without earning any gotchi points. I know that the first ones were very simple. My favourite shell designs so far are that blue arcade carpet one, the neon one and the purple space ones. But I’m not a collector though. (I grew up playing with the Connection V3 though so the Gen1&2 aren’t that nostalgic to me.)
My biggest problem with these I think is the sound being so loud but I also think I’m more embarrassed that it’s loud. The digimon are not the same at all they are so much quieter. I also think these versions are good because they have the battery they have vs the older ones batteries. I recommend just getting these p1 and p2s and getting as many people into tamagotchi and digimon as you can so they can remake the connections and have the market for it.
I feel like this is kinda missing the mark here though. This is nostalgia bait for people who want that “gen 1 experience”. Unlike Digimon vpets, new tamagotchi are coming out almost yearly, so why would they go and modify the original when they have a new one with literal USB-C recharging and online connectivity? I got a gen 2 remake to keep me company while I wait for Blue Uni to come out at the end of the month and I love this little thing for what it is.
my family got me one for my birthday and to say that i was happy would be too little i always wanted a tamagotchi and never got one since they are pretty expensive and rare in my country So when they gave me this tamagotchi to me i almost cried, and i lreally like it, it is the one with blue pin and yellow shapes maybe im saying this because im not a tamagotchi profesional, but even then i was pretty pleased maybe this is one of those cases that its good if you want to start somewhere, and im happy that you can turn off the sound, i dont mind it but my family hates the high pitch noises XD
Honestly I feel like in a lot of cases this version would put people off tamas than make them interested in them. In my country the v3 was the first version that ever got released and the difference in gameplay is staggering.
I was SO disappointed with the new tamagotchi. I had a Digimon 20th and X and LOVED THEM. BUT the bad screen and bad audio of the tamagotchi is not acceptable when the digimon has a better screen and consitant audio and is made both by bandai
I have a bunch of the rereleases mostly for the shells and I’ve had to stop myself from buying anymore. 🙈 I got the mermaid shell to take on vacation and the paint had chipped in spots by the time I got home, I was so disappointed. The Gen 2’s aren’t as bad because you can play the odds of the game vs. just taking a guess on the Gen 1 head turn game. And I like the nostalgia because I had the originals. But I’m so over them. 😭 I would love to see some connection remakes! I do like the black and white tamas for travel because they’re easier to take care of quickly. But yeah, I’m over them. 🙃
man this was my first reintroduction to vpet back in 2017 and I got one and man did I hate it. In fact this version of tam turned me off of vpets. It wasnt until the 2020 lock and watching the chilling with kakujo's digimon x series videos and getting on as a gift did I enjoy vpet again.
If at least the buttons would be good. But they are about exactly as shitty as they were on the original. I also wasn't a fan of the original back in the 90s. I still own a connection v1 however, that one is much more enjoyable to use.
I respect their significance in being the re-release of the OG, but man it's just not a good pet let's be honest. Neither the original or the re-release. There's some good other vintage versions on the Japanese side at least.
Gen 1 makes me feel irate. The game is the absolute worst. It could be 30 min before you get the happiness to full. After I got Bill, I promised to never again boot it up, such the hatred and frustration that it made me feel. NEVER AGAIN! I hated my tama because of it. Maybe because of that contrast, I have no issue with Gen 2, although I agree about the painting in the shells, it does look poorly made and it's not your handling in anyway, they all come like that. I can see that you haven't raised them because I believe you would've made a way stronger point in how frustrating and terrible the left and right game can be. Since my comment is full of frustration, let me just say that I enjoy your vids on digital pets :D
Check out my video on why the DM20 is the best Digimon vpet for beginners here: th-cam.com/video/lQgWuH-5w08/w-d-xo.html

Absolutely!
Left right game < higher lower game.

they should re-release the v3 or any of the connection ones
They re-released the connection ones just recently!
I wish the beeping was less loud and shrill
I for one, fucking love my gen 2 tamagotchi original.
Hell yeah!

No wonder I preferred the Gigapet I bought over my Tama! Jeez, my Tama was hurting my damn ears.
Haven't watched but imma guess the hello kitty nano.
Nope.
Still better than the Harry Potter one.
You know what? Yeah you're right

I got the uni🎉
They are supposed to be like that
Glitchy with bad sound quality?
And sometimes the sound goes bad but it gets normal but how long did you have it
