From a software developer prespective, the Uni is also a ticking time bomb. Once it goes out of service it's impossible to recreate a substitute Tamaverse or meetup app like the On/Meets because the Uni seems to be redirecting itself to Bandai's server. The only way for fans to build a substitute connection to the Tamaverse is if Bandai relinquishes the server to fans.
I'm sure some dedicated fan will find a way to trick the Uni into connecting to a reverse-engineered fan server once the official service dies. I don't see the Tamagotchi Uni service ending for another two to four years or so, though, but nothing lasts forever.
@@FairPlay137 hopefully it gets enough updates until then! it lacks a lot of features, I really miss the zoom in when you press C and the little animations (I think it's C) and also turning the Tama off! it would be nice to add those in an update, I hope it won't be locked to a future Uni+ or Uni upgraded device, or maybe they'll abandon the Wi-Fi factor and updates, who knows
As a Neopets player, I love the “dailies” aspect the Pix offers. Even though I hate the “swiping” of the fake buttons almost never registering first try, I look more forward to playing with my Pix than my Uni.
Wish the On could’ve continued. And also wish dna mixing was included with the uni. I’m reserving judgement but so far it feels a lot like a work in progress. Thank you so much for your takes on these issues! 😁
Not everyone liked the gene mixed, myself included. It felt like the main point of the ONs was breeding tamas, and the device itself got super boring for me in 3 weeks every single time
@@Carla-watches Yes, that was what the Ons were about; it's just about building a family tree. I can see why it can get boring... I got bored at some point too but decided to get back as it's the only tama i have as of now.

The uni’s biggest downside for me is longevity. Most Pix and On units will be just fine and functional years down the road, the Pix in particular will be really long-lasting thanks to the QR code functions. Meanwhile, the unis will be more like old iPods, with dead non-functional batteries, and the servers will eventually be closed down, so updates and content will become unavailable. So it’ll be like, a “it was fun while it lasted” situation.

I love seeing a video of someone else who likes the Pix. I feel like it gets a lot of hate in the tamagotchi community, espically on the subreddit. I don't think I like it better than the Uni though personally. I think if you can afford to get both, get both for the experience! I like that the Pix is more engaging and has more/better games, ESPECIALLY if you have the Pix Party cause it comes with more games and items. The tamas on the Pix are definitely more needy than the Uni which depending on your life style is a Pro or a Con lol. The thing that makes the Uni beat the Pix for me are the phsyical buttons and the being able to wear 4 accessories at once. Anyways I loved the video, thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Tamagotchi Uni is my first color tama and I love it. I also wear it. I'm waiting more than ten years before choosing wich to buy. I dislike to buy imported ones in japanese. I'm very happy to have almost all I wanted: 1) rechargeble battery; 2) my language - Italian!-; 3) wrist band; 4) a prince under 100 euro and 5) a lot of customization. Maybe this one is not the best ever, but I like it. However, I hope they will add genetics in a new updated version, because I never tried it before.
I just got my Uni yesterday, arrived from Singapore two days ago and I'm loving it! I can't wait to explore everything since this is my first color tamagotchi ever. Though I noticed the same thing you said about the scratches, I literally just wiped the screen with my glasses scarf and it already got scratched a bit. I know this comment is old but if this helps you or anyone else: The ON is super expensive as it’s the English version, luckily it had releases in Japanese and Korean called the Meets and the Some respectively! It’s the exact same game just in a different language, and they are way more common and therefore cheaper, especially when you import them. I got my meets for $44 dollars including shipping from a Japanese import site called Buyee :) The language barrier isn’t a huge issue for me as the menu is easy to memorise. But if it really bothers you, there are many talented people in the community who can modify it to English for you! I hope this helps someone
I love the Uni and wanted to love the Pix, but I find the touch buttons so erratic, so frustrating I just stopped playing with it. Plus, the Uni is to me brighter and more vivid, the font in bold and just more pleasing.
I've had a few and as much as the smart lacks, it's the only I've kept using the longest because its so low maintenance, especially if you have a smart card and food is free. I use it as a watch at work tbh
I love my pix for a lot of reasons. I think the size is very comfortable to hold, and I prefer the sounds it makes over the Uni. I’m pretty sensitive to sounds and the Uni’s distorted beeps are hard to listen to. I also know that the wave 2s have a better experience with the touch buttons. I have a blue one and I have little to no issues at all using it.

I have the pix and on, the tama uni is the only one left besides the tama smart. (I dont think im getting the smart) heres my opinions on the pix and on (starting with on) the design is just so cute and pretty +4 points. The tamagotchi on was the first tama that had a screen with color i got +2 points. 6 points! Now the pix, you can take photos +4 points, the design is kinda plain -2 points, the tama is more animated +3 points, there is no more marrige and dna mixing :( -3 points, there is new games that are really fun +3 points,the battery life sucks -1 point, score:4 points. The tamagotchi on is my fave idk why. The tama uni design is honestly really ugly, but theres faceplates to make it look cuter (idk where to find them tho :/ ) anyways thats my opinion on the tamagotchis
I got the On/Meets, the Uni and the Smart. I dont have the Pix, I might get it for my collection but I am loving the Smart so far. The only thing I hate about the Uni and the Smart is the charging. I’m scared that I’ll overcharge it 💔 The Uni is interesting but I wanted the Smart more, though I’m waiting for my Sanrio Uni so my opinion might change😁
If you have maximum friendship with your tamagochi pix and the photo album is empty and you never do it, it stays with you when you hit not to make the album infinitely as long as you don't neglect it, my pix party reached 101 years and before that I asked for things every 15 minutes now every half hour
Ive been wanting a new tama for the longest! Last colored one i bought was the on/meets, the new ones just didnt compare because i loved the gene mixing so much but im ready for a new tama lol
I own all 3 and the on 😅 I have yet to try the uni but I am missing the features of the on... it gives me more to come back to and I miss the genes it was more unique and gave me something to try for I guess? But I know they are not easy to get now which sux

I absolutely hate my tamagotchi uni! it's boring. It has some cute things about the tamaverse, but other than that, I dislike it. I hate that they gave us the same repetitive sounds from the smart.🙉 I want the egg shape back like on the meets/on. All new and way more advanced than ever before.🎉🎉🎉🎉
The whole point of a virtual pet is that it’s for lazy people who want a cute pet without actual putting the effort to do so. I HATE how you have to exercise with the tamagotchi uni, so far it’s my least favorite tamagotchi.

With pix they fix the battery life with pix party mines been running about a week and that battery hasn’t died

I’ve done so much research on these Tamagotchi’s I ended up with the Green Tamagotchi Pix
I really wanted a Tamagotchi On and was never able to get one and they aren’t available unless you pay 200 from an eBay seller
