Here's the deal with Kelce. He and Mahomes are playing this game with all of you. He is being the big part of making all of these less-than wide receivers look somehow amazing. These receivers are gaining so much experience and confidence as a result of his "sacrifice" of numbers. You will see the results in the mid-season stage.

I saw the game a little differently...I saw Kelce being double teamed a lot and Mahommes looking to his WRs move...and to keep the defense honest, the Chiefs ran the ball on 1st downs...they hit their TEs for short yardage when a 1st down was needed, and tested the Falcons DBs...the Chiefs defense got stops when the needed them the most.
Every team bring s their best against KC, and even when the Chiefs are not playing their best, still find a way to get the dub...that what this season is looking like to me.

Chris Jones roughing (that resulted in 7 points), phantom hands to the face (on the last drive), phantom PI (on the last drive), but please, let's focus on the non PI call with 4.5 minutes left in the game that would have put ATL up by less than a field goal. @Rich, as a long time KC fan. What impressed me so much about this game, is I believe Reid and co. are building the future team NOW. We know the connection Mahomes has with Kelce. But he doesn't use him as much. BECAUSE MAHOMES is establishing trust with new pieces in real time. As a fan, what I saw on tape is our defense is still not talked about. That's okay...continue to NOT talk about them. They will be that X factor. How about how Rashee Rice is arguably the number 1 receiver? How about the fact that the 'next man up' in Carson Steele grabbed 72 yards just pounding the ball and wearing down an excellent defense in Atlanta? There is so much good stuff in this game, I think it would take another look position by position and Mahomes is being modest...but he's making it work. The execution is a bit sloppy...but he's not worried. And the most jarring fact is NO ONE IS WORRIED! Not you, not anyone who makes a living looking at these plays...not the Chiefs or the league. If non-Chiefs fans are hating now...they should hate them more now that new players are working in Reid's schemes in prime time.

As a Chiefs fan, yes that was pass interference by Bryan Cook and the refs screwed up not calling it. I still find it hard to believe it's a conspiracy, however, considering that they made an even lighter roughing the passer call against Chris Jones earlier in the game than what Mahomes benefitted from (and in a play where they had already scored a touchdown, so the penalty was enforced on the extra point... although maybe Butker doesn't kick that given what happened later in the game, but still it's literally an extra point lol), which helped them get a first down and score their second touchdown. Oh and there were two horrible defensive penalties on Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffie (who keeps getting awful DPIs this season) to give the Falcons first downs in their final drive, and while you can argue that those aren't as impactful as the missed DPI in the endzone, I would agree but the Falcons were still getting help from bad calls! Why would that happen if the refs wanted the Chiefs to win? If anything, wouldn't the refs call zero penalties on the Chiefs, especially if they didn't fear accountability?
Not everything is a conspiracy against you, folks. Occam's Razor says that the most obvious explanation is usually the right one, and that points to officials being human and making mistakes that range from slight to egregious in their impact. I'm all for demanding better officiating and accountability for their mistakes, but let's not cherry-pick bad calls/no-calls at moments that we arbitrarily label as "more crucial" than other moments just because they benefit a team we don't like, especially when that team's opponent had opportunities to win. I'm noticing a trend where people do that to take solace in this narrative that even though they lost, they actually won because those bad officiating moments are all that mattered. That's not a good sign for a society that's less and less willing to take responsibility for its mistakes. Even Raheem Morris said in his presser that they had chances to win despite the no-call, and they blew it on fourth and inches.

Let’s talk about why the Falcons couldn’t make a fourth and inches. There were non calls on the Falcons too. How about Chris Jones being called for roughing the passer when he was pushed into Cousins and brushed him. That turned a fourth down into a first and a score. Why you of all people would fan the flames of “the refs are on the Chiefs side” when it’s been all over social media for years. But I’ve also seen Falcons fans say they had plenty of chances to win this game. There were bad calls on both sides. The Chiefs just didn’t have one of theirs in the end zone, Other shows today have been more sensible about this or didn’t bring it up at all.

The main takeaway I saw was there is a significant gap in coaching from Andy Reid and staff to Raheem Morris and staff. If the Falcons kick a field goal on their second to last drive then they can play to run out the clock on their final drive and kick a field goal to win. Even if they don't get the field goal and need a TD on the final drive it's 4th and inches... the zone run with Bijan hasn't worked all game... you are now down 2 starting o-lineman... so what makes you think it's suddenly going to work now? If they don't thin a recovering non-athletic Cousins can pick up an inch on a sneak, fine, then just blast Algiere up the gut... which had been working or call a pass to get the ball in the hands of 1 of your best players in space or something... Call anything but a speed out to the edge that hadn't worked all day.

    A couple of things.....
    1. Lets be clear. Mahomes is great & you don't want to give him the ball at the end for a game winning/tying drive. But the Chiefs have won 9 in a row counting the post-season. And they've done it on the back of Spags, Chris Jones, Nick Bolton and the defense. Make no mistake about it. This is NOW a defensive team that happens to have Mahomes at QB.
    2. Not only was the roughing the passer call on Jones weak at best. #70 for the Falcons had not one, but TWO separate hands to the face of Jones on that play before the RTP flag. Worst case scenario, it should have been off-setting penalties and a replay of the down. Instead it extended the drive that led to a Falcons TD.
But NOBODY wants to talk about that. Changed the entire game. Without that? Falcons score 12 points last night and the no-call on the DPI (and it was a terrible no-call) doesn't even come into play.

That makes sense if you don't know anything about football. Clearly a 1st and goal, at the 1, is nice to have. But that doesn't mean being gifted drive-sustaining penalties is nothing. If a team ends up wit points, after a penalty, it alters the game. Falcons should have only had 10 pts, at that moment, so even if they DO get that PI, they'd only be trying to get to 17 points at that moment. See how the game is a culmination of all things going on for 4 quarters, not just a couple of cherry-picked moments?

Impossible to tell for sure, but what would be nice is a game where the refs make good calls consistently and every time when there is a question, go to the replay judge. If they get in they go up. If they don’t they kick the field goal and go up. But now they’ve burned more clock making it harder for the chiefs. We can’t accept “make up calls” and oh you failed later when it’s that game shifting.
Whether the league is actually trying to help the chiefs does NOT MATTER. The refs making calls that keep games closer than they should and allow teams as good as the chiefs to get back into them late is the problem.

Roger has taken this game of football and made it a Hollywood soap opera. What gets me is how majority of the NFL journalist are told to protect the chiefs. Real football is now dead and taken the sport of football and made it a sports entertainment like the WWE.
So expect more protection of the chiefs all this NFL season. Money talks and as long as people are into celebrity worshiping, that is what our NFL has become until we get rid of Roger and bring someone who will bring real football back to us.

If the Chiefs manage to find success this season with their cleats tied together like they did last year, then it might be getting a little fishy. But not quite yet.

Rich Eisen - you are talking like you are being fair but you are not helping with the conspiracy talk - you should know better. The refs make and miss many call - it evens through out the season.

I’m so glad a sports columnist is finally saying the refs favor the chiefs!!

Takeaway is: chiefs are not allowed to lose. Questionable DPI on the other team? Throw the flag. Blatant DPI on the chiefs? Don’t throw the flag. They should be 1-2

Sure kid... ignore the ridiculous flags against the Chiefs that kept the Falcons in the game... doesn't fit your narrative does it though😂

Nothing phases them because they know the refs gonna assist them no matter what. And it’s exhausting seeing ppl act like it’s not happening

This week the Chiefs need to get Kareem Hunt some practice reps with the 1st team. He's the missing link with Pacheco on the mend.

Mahomes will never be a goat or the goat I’ve seen way too many times the chiefs getting bailed time after time again won 2 Super Bowl because of it
