    Terrific Mike! I've heard that occasionally a bolt might break off between the disc and bell housing too. Do you ever see that?

    Excellent info Mike, thanks. I’m considering buying an 80k miles Porsche Cayenne, specced with CC brakes. I won’t be using it on track. They look in good condition, but your estimates make me more nervous especially as to pad & disc life.

    Agree with the comments on the video but would a car with carbon ceramic discs as shown in the video actually pass a UK MOT test when on the braking section?

    What can I do to stop or minimize carbon ceramic brakes from squeaking?? (Very loudly)
    There are only a year old….
    Dealer said disk condition still very good…

    Would you happen to know which wheel cleaners (as in, which active substance in the cleaner) result in breakdown of the disc surface?

      Most wheel cleaners are acidic. Only soapy water for CCM cleaning

    15k per pad? If your on the track every weekend yes but daily driving NO WAY! The pads should last well over 50k miles on street

    Hello Mike , great information again and as I’m looking for another later model Aston Virage or DB9, this issue is a bit of a worry. Could you please clarify what you said , 50k miles per pad set and after 3 pad sets the discs are done which equals 150k miles under normal use and no wheel cleaner or dogs or cats pissing on your wheels as I presume they wouldn’t like that either ? Does the DB11 steels brakes fit as they look the same size roughly ? Cheers Aussie Chris 🇦🇺 UK

      I gathered the same. 50k for pads. 100-150k for disks. Looking to get a '10 V12V stick. First set of pads changed at 45k. Currently sitting at 47k.

    £7k... Can you replace ceramic brakes with normal steel pads and discs?

      The rotors for a corvette zr 01 are identical and cheaper

      Not all CCB discs are made the same. Audi, Bentley, BMW, Lamborghini and Porsche CCB's have a silicon carbonate surface. Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin, Corvette, Maserati and Nissan do not use this type of protective surface. But all is not lost when your CCB get tired. Fortunately all types of CCB's can be re-surfaced for a fraction of the cost. A car like this Virage has 398mm front discs and if I remember correctly 360mm on the rear. Re-surfacing for discs of this type and size is approximately 1400€ per disk which is considerably cheaper than new disks...

      The brown tint to the colour instead of a beep charcoal colour plus the lack of a reflective surface is a sure sign the discs are getting close too or beyond their life expectancy.
      Aggressive wheel cleaners, detergents and acids can degrade surface also running the pads beyond their 1/2 way wear can lead to overheating and damage… never track ceramic brakes with half worn pads! The wear goes up exponentially as well as the heat build up.

      @@jamest5149 my new CCB discs, not our 15 years old CCM are made by Sicom/Carbobrake un Germany 😁
      With very quiet Pagid RSC1 4941 new pads.
      Not our Brembo old Textar T4300 pads !
      Never resurface CCM discs !!!
