before i did my service i talked with a service mgr at nissan he says under no circumstance you drop the pan on a cvt , the only time you open this trans is if it needs to be rebuilt ! just passing along some good info here so people can help themselves ,,,,,,i just did my 2012 in oct 22 this year we are lucky we have a dip stick that can be used properly for fluid level ,,,,,,its a little over 4 quarts of ns 2 cvt fluid ,,,,,,,the first time under waranty i let the dealer do it cost me 298 bucks it was under waranty i did not want to hear problems that i did not follow manufacturers directions etc etc etc ,,,,this time cost me 5 quarts at 18 bucks a quart and some labor LOL ,,,,,,i did not fuss with those worn out plastic inserts that are so rotten after 10 years ,,,,,thanks for the video ,,,,god bless
You did a great job with the video! Detailed, I can tell you are meticulous and I value that as someone I can probably trust does a good job n doesn't miss important stuff, and don't worry! We hear the wind, but it's not hurting your audio at all!! Great job man thank you for sharing! Helps a lot
Thanks for the super-detail info, even for the top filter. I took out the battery and tipped up the mounting bracket in addition to what you said, still quite a challenge - the heat transfer cylinder would knock the filter back off when I tried to do it by myself, I needed someone else to hold it while I put the filter in. This all probably took as long as replacing the lower filter, gasket, and pan. What a stupidly inaccessible location.
You did a very good video about changing transmission oil. My car also a Rouge 2012 needs a transmission ail change and I will not do the change myself but I get an idea how to do it. The mechanic will not be able to fool me 🙂
Thanks for this vid! I have to change the GF’s pan gasket so I’ll change the filter while I’m at it. I liked hearing the windshines. I used to have some and really like them but I forgot how pleasant they sound!
My local Walmart is a smaller design and stopped carrying the jugs. They maybe still on Walmart.com. They work great and have the quart measurements to really help determine the amount of fluid coming out and going in. Keep in mind transmission fluid expands when it’s hot. So maybe best to change the fluid when the vehicle is cool and close to the temp of the new fluid going in to get a better measurement.
The sound it's not bad...your doing a great job...I've seen other vídeos, yours is the best one...thanks for all the details provided for this video....👍👌Awesome!
Very good video that I followed to do the job last weekend. you helped me a lot to understand all the steps and your explanations are very precise. I wanted to know if the upper filter can be changed afterwards without changing the fluid completely. Thanks for the reply and congratulations👍👍👍
Nice tutorial, especially tilting the pan to allow the fluid to leak out. One symptom that I noted that improved after the change was high RPMs when driving, I think I had a clogged filter, so if you have that, change the filter and the fluid.
Careful. 3 of my tranny pan bolts wouldn’t tighten back up. So I found some more I had that worked. And the upper cartridge filter sux to get at but I got it.
There are two filters. One in the pan the screen filter and one in the cooler a paper one. I only recorded the screen one in the pan, but I changed both. I did another drain and fill from the plug in the pan after about 100 miles to get more of the old fluid cycled out.
I also noticed that no one. Especially looking for a TH-cam video has a video on how to change the paper filter on the external housing. I have seen a few that just drain and refill and a few that drop the pan and take the screen out. And I am curious how did that paper element look when you removed the first time. I’m assuming that it would absorb most of the shavings. I would rather change this one regularly because clearly the screen would not receive too much debris.Without changing this filter also I could see how CVT’s would fail for improper lubrication. Thanks for the video. You are a true warrior. Not many of us left
That is correct. Nissan OEM fluid is green like. On the previous service I used Castrol CVT fluid that is red fluid like regular trans fluid. That’s why it came out red. The new Havoline fluid I am trying is Carmel in color.
Hello sir, is the cooler filter/aux filter changeable after the fluid fill? Cuz i 'serviced' the transmission, changed the gasket main filter, and put oil in it already. The i decided to go on the seerch for more videos to make sure that i didnt do anything wrong, and here i found that there is another filter, so i question is, can i change that cooler filter without draining the 6qts of fluid that ive just put in?
I was able to change the cooler line paper filter without draining the fluid. I pinched off the rubber lines going to the cooler cartridge filter and was able swap filter with minimal fluid loss.
Those are scary ramps, not much of a base for those tires. I’ll be paranoid it might roll backwards, hopefully you chocked the rear. Rhinos are much better.
You can use petroleum jelly to keep the gasket in place while installing the pan. Works like a charm. 32:13
Nice detailed video. GF has a 2011 Rogue with about 170k miles and probably is in need of doing this exact same process.

Awesome video man. Thank you for the detailed explanation. I didn’t realize Walmart sold those big jugs. I gotta get me some.

What about the second filter.
Thank you..tremendous insight..fantastic presentation left nothing out..🎉
the language! he busted out the Jeez Louise and the holy cow! 😎
good video 👍
like to see vids like this all the things i will run into when i have to change mine...not alot of skipping
If the gasket is not damaged you can reuse it if you wish. Saves you the trouble of replacing the gasket.
I trust a used gasket about as much as I trust a two-post lift from Temu

Great job great call on the six quarts. Video looks and sounds real good. Thanks for the video.
Good, I’m going to change my rogue 👍

Great video. Thank you.
Good video!
Great video 👍🏼 is it necessary to do more than one drain and refill if the fluid has never been replaced ? And does cvt have 1 or 2 filters ?

I didn’t record changing the paper cartridge filter. I apologize. However I have changed it.
Really great video.

@@BlazerGuy1983 what do you think about castrol cvt oil its like nissan or more good and how many mi do you use the castrol cvt fluid?
i use amsoil cvt fluid
Hi, I have a question to how much mileage have the car to change the fluid to the transmission, I have a Nissan rogue 2012 and have a 200000 mile
About 90,000 km
Thanks sir
How much is the cost of filter kit
Is it ok to change the oil , filter not
How has this fluid held up ?

Some people clean the cooler also by applying high pressure air through tiny rubber tubes attached to the cooler.
My '13 Rogue is on its 3rd transmission and is only at 98k miles. 🤬 (Nissan only paid for the first replacement.). Last Nissan I will ever own.
😅 me too
We have an 08 140k miles and a 2011 160k miles no issues
@@joonyaboydo you change the transmission fluid regularly
Good job.😢😢😢😢😢
What type of transmission fluid that your changed? Same like havoline??
He had Castrol cvt fluid in it before, the red fluid

I hate ramps, switched to jack stands and a good jack myself.
⁉⁉What size of crash washer, same as oil drain or different?
Same
Great video!!
Thanks!
