The round cylinder in front of the transmission held on with three bolts. That is where the cooler filter is located. Anyway thank you for this video. This a main step so many Rogue owners skip.
My question is why do Nissan dealers tell me that their isn’t a filter nor does it need one need to be changed ? This is gross negligence. I have paid them Twice in 80k miles to drain and fill about $200 each time. How much does a job like this cost to replace filters?
Nissan didn't add a dip stick for a reason. Right next to the tranny drain bolt is a another bolt to check for fluid level. Car parked on a level ground, take out the leveling bolt. Add 1/2, 3/4qt of tranny fluid (after doing a drain) and once the flow coming out the leveling bolt is to a slow drip, then the tranny has the correct amount of fluid. This is per service manual I believe. If nissan engineers wanted a stick down in that fill tube, they would've put one, I wouldn't risk putting anything down that fill tube other than cvt fluid. Nice lift by the way!

That sucks they are dicks for doing that
Any reason why you didn't change the filter when you had the transmission drained? You just changed the screen on the valve body, which probably doesn't ever need to be changed on Nissans. The filter is accessible without dropping the pan but I couldn't see where you changed it in this video. Nissan p/n 3172628X0A probably.
@@GarageMahalLife No, you can see the filter housing on your transmission casing in this video. You only replaced the internal screen which doesn't do much and probably never needs to be replaced. I would look up the part number listed above and consider replacing it. It's probably dirty AF.

Recommended maintenance for the CVT is change fluid every 30,000 miles. That’s what I have done on my 2015 since new. It only has 67,000 miles on it now, did just a drain and fill at 30,000, and at 60,000 did a pan drop and filter. Pulled an oil sample and had it analyzed and the company said they have never seen an oil sample that good on a Nissan CVT at that mileage. Will continue this maintenance schedule in the future.
I did run in on a lower idle speed prior to getting it on the road. Rechecked the fluid level. Then drove it 10 miles running it through the various levels of speed, then rechecked the fluid level... all was good.

Is that AWD? I saw only specs for AWD online for 9 quarts. With it be the same for FWD?
It is going to depend on how much you drain out... difficult to drain all 9 quarts out.
i have xtrail 2014 cvt 2.0 MR20DD. i drained all oil and filled it with 4L ns3 do i must need check level? in my country no service can do that. and also cant find filter. help.
Always put in as much as you drained, as long as there were no leaks, it should be an accurate measurement.
@@GarageMahalLife im stupid didnt measure how much i drained :(
@@GarageMahalLife how accurate if i do that overflow level check method?
No need to put RVT silicone sealant?
Sealant is more so for the gasket to "stay" put if needed. But the factory never uses the stuff...
Great video, just what I was looking for. What is the part number for the dip stick you mentioned from Amazon?
Dipstick amzn.to/3x8YXlt
Is a 4wd

What year is this Rogue? Good video!
2018, Thanks
What year is this rogue your doing it on
2018 as stated right in the beginning of the video 😉
Quick question. Where do you buy the dip stick for Trans fluid level? I have a second gen Rogue 2020.
That is the one I used, I believe it was 21.5 inches long, for the dip length amzn.to/3r94iJa
@@GarageMahalLife I was at my nearby Nissan dealership yesterday and asked about Transmission fluid service, they said there is no way you can check it at home, and they will need to charge me for just checking it and recommend a full exchange service for 210 dollar at 30K interval. Well, I guess this little dip stick may prove them wrong, since I can check at home. Thanks for the reply, your video helps me a lot. Keep up with your good work.
@@jlin1212 Dealerships will always tell you that... it is a bit tricky to get the "nub" out of the transmission dip stick port, but easy enough. Good luck be safe and glad you are saving money! 😀
@@jlin1212 if it's $210 total, that's not bad. 6 quarts of fluid from Amazon, dip stick, and filter, that's already around $160.
How do I properly check my transmission fluid on my 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport. I purchased a dipstick off of ebay it says it fits 2014 and up Rogues but not Rogue Sport will it still fit mine? I just don't know how to get accurate reading?
What year is this Rogue? 2018 ok
Yes
Thanks!
Thank you for watching and commenting 😀
Was your rogue the sv model
Yes
Thank you for great video 👍👍
Thank you for watching!
There is no way that you drained as much fluid that you have put in. It has to be way overfilled. A pan drop does not yield 5+ quarts/liters.
Thas is why you measure the fluid level at the end... :)
You're right, 4 on a rogue sport actually 4.25, with the pan dropped and filters. I got 3.5.with just a drain and fill
9 quarts of fluid? Other "just fluid" changes they all say about 4.5 quarts because of all the fluid left in torque converter, etc.
Correct, as in the video, measure how much comes out and put that amount back in...
Thanks for the video 😊
My pleasure 😊 Thank you for Watching!
May I ask what are the torque specs for the filter and pan bolts?
Every model year and engine/transmission type is different, I always hesitate answering these questions. The bolts are sooo easy to overnighter and strip. But typically 6 to 10lbs....
Thank you for your reply and I really appreciate it! Great video!
@@tsgt2007 Thank you, be safe!
10-12

10 foot pounds is in around 120 inch pounds seems like a hell of a lot for torque
That's what it calls for, from the manufacturer... honestly that's not that much.
10 pounds is alot?
You have to get your hands nice and easy
Thank you for watching 👀
Do you still got your rogue an how did the transmission do
We since have traded it in, however it ran great, better than ever after the fluid change. Put another 20k with nonissues before we traded it.
@@GarageMahalLife good to hear
Can i know, transmission cvt fluid filter changing period.?
Each year, model is different. I'm a little overboard and do that every 30k. But most manuals Recommend 60k.
@@GarageMahalLife dear am asking filter.. Not oil
I bought my rogue with 60k and have 120k miles and done 2 flushes so far. Not sure if i should check the filter. As shifting is as good as the day i got it. And been keeping up with all normal maintenance and only bring to dealer for services i cant do.
So what are you thoughts on doing flushes engine is cold or has been running(but turned off duh lol) ive only ever done it cold and see not issues
Excellent 😀
Hello sir, thanks for the video. It was very helpful. I have 2020 DCT model with almost 30k ( KM not miles) when do you recommend to change the DCT transmission fluid ?
I would wait until 75km at least, you shouldn't need to change it until then...
How many quarts have put back ??
You have to monitor how much comes out, but in this case I put in close to 5 quarts.
What year is this rogue?

@@GarageMahalLifeI’m. It seeing it in the description
how to replace gasket??
You have to drop the pan.
Great vid. Just a tip use silicone paste to adhere the gasket to the pan. Much easier to line everything up. Thanks again gor your video
Good tip, thanks 😊
Do you know are transmission drain crash washer and oil drain crash washer different or have the same size?
I believe so.
You should change the cartridge filter too.
Yes, some models they are easy to get to, others, your practically dropping the trans.
É pena que só falem nas caixas CVT é informação ás molhadas mas ninguém fala no NISSAN CASHQAI com caixa DCT de 2019 existe vídeo nenhum em toda a net a falar das novas caixas DCT de dupla embraiagem
Si, si...
Maravilloso aprendi
Glad I could help :)
Cmon man.....you made ZERO mention of the cooler filter!!! You need to EDIT this video and mention that immediately.
Next video... Thanks 😉
Do not over fill
As long as you measure what comes out... and fill that to replace.
@ 2:50, that trans oil is filthy...
Right
I need Bengali
Bengali!
@ 11:50 filthy.
Yes
*ME SUSCRIBO*
Thank you
My mechanic said not to worry about the cooler filter....do you agree?
Depends on how many miles... 60k and it is not the vrt transmission, I would change it.
Not 10 ft pounds !!!!!!! Nooooo!!!!
10 newton meter if something!!!!
But exactly should be 70 inch pounds for the filter and the pan !!! Not foot pounds!!!
Depending on your year and model....
