- how to measure squareness with a square measure squareness using 2 sets of feller gauges and an accurate precision square to actually give you an amount that you are out of square If you are new to machining and measuring techniques this is a must see demonstration of use of a square how to measure with light ray gallant
I really enjoy the quick simple format of your videos, no waffling on, straight to it. Keep them going I always learn something, thanks
Thank you for taking the time to comment
Awesome positive comments like yours put fuel in the creative tank much appreciated

Really interesting demonstrations accompanied by the "why". I appreciate your video
Something that really surprised me was cheap feeler gauges from Wal-Mart were actually accurate when measured with 0.001mm or 0.0001" micrometers.
I compared them to Snap-On and Starrett which were 10x the price
sometimes tooling is just junk other times it’s the cheap brand of the namebrand
Back in the day when you used to know where things were manufactured, I would order parts and talk to the sales guy and find out wow this square is made in the same place as the sterritt squares are made
Thank you for your comment and thank you for taking time to comment. It is much appreciated.

Thank you! Great video. But, why did you didn't start measuring the orizontal 2.5 inch from the very left limit of the square and instead you started measuring from the intradox?
I would point out that everything we do starts with the surface plate. Something flat has to come first or there's nothing to go back to. What you could be checking there is how flat the stone is
Thanks for posting, very interesting! I’m going to have to try that light thing and see what’s actually going on. As others said, easier to get the feeler gauges out than trying to do the light thing in a properly scientific manner.
Hi Dave
Thanks for taking the time to comment
Let us know how the light test works and if you think it’s real or not
Thank you Ray
@@shopandmath - Thanks Ray. Only just found your channel but loving it so far. Keep up the great work!
Yeah, the difference between the red & blue is 300nm which I believe works out to just under 0.3 of a micron or 0.0000117". I don't think the human eye can see that😁. The use of feeler gauges is pretty good & easy. Cheers
Hi Peter
I’m glad you understand my frustration when dealing with certain people
Good luck trying to tell people they can’t see color
And they also think that if they can see red or green or blue it’s like 2000s of an inch
Thank you for your comment much appreciated
Ray
Of course, your square is only calibrated to perhaps 1 thou over the length unless you know for sure i.e. have measured the squareness of your measuring device somehow.
Thank you for taking the time to comment much appreciated

how do u square an entire surface?
the short answer is CMM
It can be done with a angle plate and indicator
How's this different from the other one you had ?
