Somewhere on Earth - All episodes: • Somewhere on Earth | A...
Today, Somewhere on Earth is off to discover the Sultanate of Oman in the south of the Arabian Peninsula. This is the Orient of The Thousand and One Nights, which the Romans called Arabia Felix, Blessed Arabia.
It’s also the land of the once nomadic Bedouins. Bedu in Arabic means desert dweller.
Dhofar, in the far south of the country harbors a precious treasure: frankincense.
Mossin devotes most of his time to the protection of the frankincense tree. 2000 years ago the inhabitants here made fortunes and their influence spread throughout the world thanks to the frankincense trade.
Saïd lives in the Hajar, a mountain range in the north along the Gulf of Oman. He lives his life according to the seasons of his date palms. He takes care of them for they are all he has and he lives right in the midst of his trees.
Ahmed and his son live in Balat Sayt in the Djebel Al Akhdar, literally the Green Mountain. Ahmed is an arif, a water master, a guardian of knowledge and a living memory.

Nice video 👍
Nothing is more precious than indigenous tribes, our living ancestors.
If only all of us could live so simply connected to nature and the traditional ways of life.... This documentary is absolutely beautiful!
Fully Agree !
It is so heartwarming to know there are still humans on earth who understand the fundamental principles of the meaning of our lives - water - food - prepare for the next generation.
It's so cool how he got a big education, yet returned home to the country where he loves and is at peace to do what he loves to do.
I love Nature.
I love embracing God's creation. Everything about this place is beautiful.
Thanks for sharing ❤❤🙏
Listening to Mossin talk is like listening to poetry. Beautiful man with beautiful heart
Thank you for this wonderful Documentary. From the wisdom of the wonderful people to the simplicity of their life. Shukran!
Thank you Free documentary for showing the beauty of Oman ❤... Regards from Oman
Oman is the safest country and people are the politest on earth.
I always love watching any documentary on Oman!
Thank you, Oman is a beautiful country that still preserves its identity
Those who have gone before us....I like the respect for nature, for the ancestors, for their way of life. How so different and refreshing compared to the attitudes here!!! The west should be taking notes from these beautiful people.
I just spend a time of reflexion of the beauty of the immense of deserts, surviving the odds but strength of its dwellers. Well done inhabitants of beautiful Oman!!! Shalom!!!!
SAID HAS WEALTH BEYOND MEASURE
Fascinating, never knew a part of this world is so rich in culture and heritage. Keep up the good work ☺️
watching from Ahmedabad, India
I admire each and every Bedouin who carried on traditions of their ancestors to live the way they lived. The irrigation and agriculture system was absolutely STUNNING to see. Only ever read about them in history books but never seen them operated. Brilliant documenting!
We could learn so much from them just by this.
Thank you for bringing this knowledge for free. I discovered what I could have missed otherwise. From South Africa, with love.
it's our pleasure and our thanks to you! For stopping by!
@@FreeDocumentarydo you know the song that is playing at 20:14 ?
@@ignerisviivii8551 I tried to shazam it but it didn't work. It's definitely cool music. I'll see if I can get hold of the editor to find out more. I'll get back to you but it will take a few days, okay?
In many ways, I’m jealous of those desert nomads. I know their life is difficult beyond my soft modern life could understand. But to have such clear purpose in life. I don’t think too many of them have anxiety or depression.
Exactly. Living in an age of hyper capitalism, the message seems to be that endless consumption of stuff leads to contentment, but it's really about finding a purpose.
Same. I'm Polynesian, wish my grandparents never left and I grew up on a island living a traditional life on our own land. Being a slave to debt sucks lol
That purpose is 'find water'. Constantly, 24/7. Or you die. Tough life.
@@tc98826 And they have continued to, for centuries and millennia. We do not know how much of runway does the modern capitalistic life has got left.
It's your misconception that their life is difficult. Nationals of Middle East are more secure, protected, facilitated and living happy life better then US Europe. Specially GCC countries. They are most richest Globally
This series is my Favorite ever made by any body. Incredible stories. Incredible video work.
Mine too. Absolutely love it. And thanks for stopping by to let us know - awesome. Really.
I love Oman been there last year. Amazing, very polite and friendly people. Country is super heart warming. I would love to visit again soon.
How much is the frankincense
@@Sammy-lz1vi I have no idea
@@Sammy-lz1vi affordable and various grades so you can surely pick some up.
Give us more info, lol, I’d like to go visit, what’s the travel experience like? Customs? Is it like Egypt?
Great documentary. I enjoyed it. Lesson learned. Humans don't need as much as they think they do. Simplicity often means contentment.
Thank you for working on this documentary. It remmembered me alot and its same culture as northern somalia

I miss Salalah, Oman.
This documentary captures the enchanting beauty and cultural richness of Oman. It's a journey into a world of history, tradition, and natural treasures. Thank you for sharing this captivating exploration of a place that seems like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
Hoping not to be discovered. Hidden treasure.
May God bless all these pure souls and continue to protect and preserve their unadulterated lifestyles. Side from the narrator killing the pronounciation of so many proper and common nouns (the waterways are simply called Falaj!), this was a beautiful documentary of the rarely seen side of Oman, a wonderful country.
How life should be lived. Thank you for sharing.
The small village with the date trees is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, almost a place lost to time.. The old dude climbs the date tree with ease for a man of his age
Being in the desert centers one self, there’s a reason why nomads are care free compared to city dwellers, it’s because there connected to nature being in nature one can become peaceful
Always wondered where frankincense came from. I'm from New Zealand so we can only get it by import like most countries around the world I guess. Really grateful for this hard work.
Paradise on earth. Most beautiful documentary and also nice people.
I see the Sahaba in the faces and morals of Omani people, Afghans are kind of close too. Love to my Muslim brothers
History, nature, Dhofar Mountain, Frankincense, frankincense business with another nation, Nomads lifestyle, Dates Farming, irrigation system and Jebel Akhdar : A complete Nature and Agriculture documentary on Oman.
A very nice documentary about Oman. Thank you very much Free Documentary team.
Well presented documentary. It would be interesting to understand more how to care for the francancence trees though.
Where I live we mulch our trees using leaves and cut grasses. Mulch provide nutrients and keeps the ground from drying out as quick.
World is beautiful ❤ Wish there was peace everywhere

No GREED here in this tiny speck of earth, thats why people are happy and content. Greed is a sin that ruins every good thing in life.
