Billy Gilman recorded this 20 years ago, when he was 10 or 11. This is the anniversary edition. So beautiful, and so poignant!

Billy's voice hasn't changed since he recorded this song 20 years ago. It is just as pure and beautiful as ever. having him sing it with Home Free was amazing. The blend of their voices was wonderful. WOW! Please keep yourself safe and warm in this winter cold.

One of the reasons I love Home Free, they tackle really tough subjects with their platform and do it so well. I used this video to open a conversation with my granddaughter, worth the tears

I agree. They recognize that they are a part of a larger world, and they use their place in that world to help start the conversations.

Never thought a reactor that I randomly stumbled upon on youtube would have me sitting here in tears, but here we are. You speak like someone who both genuinely cares and has been there. Someone who has crawled through the flames and never wants to see someone else follow that same path. Your words were what I really needed to hear today, and I didn't even know it... thank you.
In the last few years, I've lost what feels like it all. My mother and grandfather both passed of cancer, my dog that I raised from a pup passed away, and my marriage fell apart... it's been a hard and dark time. I don't often repeat reaction videos, let alone just portions of them, but I have to admit I listened to your speech at the end there a few times. Thank you for the beautiful and kind words. They made a difference for this defeated man.

Billy recorded this when he was 11. He was classified a country singer. In 2016, Gilman auditioned for season 11 of the US edition of The Voice and competed as part of Team Adam Levine, finishing as runner-up for the season. He says he now wants to do the kind of music he wants to .

Home Free is not afraid to tackle tough subjects....suicide, bullying, women's rights, and racial equality....they've made videos that show where they stand and use their platform to help all humans no matter who they are....they have employed people of all races, and of all genders and sexual orientations. It's one of the things that attracts me most to them.....well their incredible talents too.

Hearing this song again, is still tear build up. I've experienced 2 times so far in my life, almost a 3rd where Suicide was battled against living. 1st time was in my bedroom with a wooden knife/stake that i crafted myself back in early high school. Living won. 2nd time, some point in College i wasn't sure why i existed, but didn't know where to go to in my future. .. Ok, apperently more times. 3rd... Was working about 2nd year in the job, tried to figure out which method would be better, yet some friends kept popping into my head, that gave me reasons why i couldn't do it yet. Later, near the endng of one job before i discovered another, I had run through a few ideas of how to let myself go, 2 methods were decided that it wouldn't work, but i still had the 1 other. I knew how to do it, but logically i calculated the chances of actually dying vs surviving, and then the aftermath of surival. Not too long after, the chance for a different company came along and helped me get out of the torture. Will be the first year in my 40's this year. I have a good job and though i had to face tough life scenarios, i'm still continueing onward.
I'm happy you got to see this song/video, thanks for doing what your doing.

That simple little tag line you mentioned... I found it on a small poster in my high school guidance counselor's office, of all places. It saved my life (and my unborn daughter's, as well), and I've repeated it to so many others over the past 45 yrs that I pray it has saved others, also!

I remember when this song was originally released when Billy was just a boy. It hit hard then and still hits hard now. Especially when you've been in those places. The things I have learned is the dark days will pass. It probably won't be easy but they will pass. Also there's no shame in seeking help. If your vehicle breaks down you find a mechanic, if you get sick you find a doctor, if you are depressed then please seek help. Great reaction. Thank you for doing this song. It's message needs to be spread

I grew up in the 80’s. Were there tough times as a teen? Absolutely!! Did I feel I’d be better off not in this world? Maybe, briefly! But I never had a plan and realized instinctively that it would cause more issues than it solved. But I was not part of the “Instant Gratification” era, so there was time to reflect and come to terms with a new day bringing new opportunities. I’m raising a 14 year old girl and her mouse maze has so many more options/opticals than mine did! All I can do is be there for her, by letting her know that, whatever/whoever she becomes, she will ALWAYS come first in my life until I AM NO MORE!!!

It was obvious that this touched your heart, for whatever private reason. Many of us live with scars from our life experience; and often, they are not outwardly visible for others to see. Wear the scars proudly, they represent survival, triumph, and life. They also allow you to pass wisdom.

Suicide is never an answer. The person that thinking about it, is in pain, confused, hurt, angrey. They have gotton to a point they just want it all to stop..Suicide just transfers pain to the people left behind. Even if its so very hard to see, there is help, hard to imagine. Butdo not be afraid to say you need help,or want help or so scared and confused. Don't feel ashamed. Ther is life after all this crap friends. Please Please don't use suicide as your excape. Get in touch with the sucide prevention line. Grab a friend that understands you. tell them your to that point, ask for there support. Anything, when i was 13 my best friend that lived a couple housed down from me, he was 14. He blew his head off in my dads garage. i heard the shot and i found him. Its an image i will never be able to forget. i am 65 so its been a long time. But i still feel i should have seen the signs, and i wished he knew how much i loved him and would have tried my best to help him. But in a note he had left, he was afraid i would have seen him as a coward.. Sorry for this post.. Nick if you want me to remove it, send a message.
