Saw John in concert a few times in Glasgow........ Amazing singer/songwriter, and a very witty gentleman.... thank you so much for the great nights John...... Sadly missed.
Did he say that? Do you happen to know where/what interview? I’m genuinely curious because Bob & John and this song & I are all deeply, deeply connected. I’d love to him praise John. 🖤🖤
Nobody else could've written a song about Native Americans finding white babies, a couple grilling sausages on an outdoor grill, and a murder investigation--all centered around a lake--and made it sound this good. RIP Mr. Prine. I never met you, but I'll miss you the rest of my life. A true original.
I was there! I can't recall what other songs he performed. Anyone remember? Also, Levon Helm read letters from Jimmie Rodgers. First time I saw Gillian Welch and David Rawlings! What a show!
I was there too!! I wish I could remember more about it. They should release video of the whole thing. I went to the smaller show the night before where I saw Gillian Welch for the first time.
It's a damn shame you haven't inducted him yet. The greatest songwriter of all-time should certainly be in, especially since you have people like Hall and Oates in.
Only a couple or three folks know the song - check out the audience throughtout the performance. You can easily tell which ones - they're ripping right along with every breath!
Same exceptional song, same exceptional artist, but feels hurried, as if on a time constraint. This takes away from the nuances of this singular song. Not disappointed in the song nor the artist, but I DO FEEL the event coordinators did John & this song a disservice.
With John Prine, it is not about what you heard in his music, it is how you plan to live your life differently because of what you heard in his music.
cringe
It's always been the goosebump And the occasional tear
Beautifully said

It's no wonder that Bob Dylan said that this was his favourite song from John Prine's catalogue. Mr. Prine, you will be missed!

You will be missed by many! R.I.P. John Prine.
John is an American treasure. IMO...best songwriter in my generation. Maybe ever.
"...Standin' by peaceful waters! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH BABY !!!"
The most beautiful piece of work
The audience certainly appreciates the greatness of John Prine!!!
Man I love his music ❤️
Rest in PARADISE John.
I guess his ashes were actually scattered in the green river as he wanted
I love this song
" shadooows"! We got to go now. Miss you much, John.

Beautiful
I miss more and more all the time
True. 😆👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you Mr PRINE, your music will live On forever ! ! !
Nice how you snubbed his induction in 2019 and its also very nice how you upload this after he's dead.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
Nice how this isn't rock and roll. Neither is Jimmie Rogers. But I guess they've run out of rock and rollers to induct.
@@jnagarya519 They haven't run out, they are just biased. Still I would rather have Prine and Rogers over Soundgarden and The Cult.
Johns having a cocktail and smokin a cigarette nine miles long . Great song awesome entertainer . RIP
I wonder if the people at this event understood that they were listening to the greatest folk song ever?
Three of them did 😂
No one can ever do this song except the original JP....beautiful voice, incredible band....people in audience never heard such a troubadour before!
I wish everyone could take the time to listen to the man.what a talented, unique, fun, entertainer
Still hard to grasp the reality of John bouncing over a white cloud swinging the world by the tail just killing the blues...John made me say it
R.I.P. Mr Prine
God I miss him.
Listen to the song, I believe it is called Lonesome Friends of Science. If it dose not make ya say damn in these crazy times nothing will.

Ohhhaaahhoohhaaaoohhhh...I miss you so much.
Thanks

Art is not a contest - no need to knock other artists you don't happen to appreciate.
@@4orrcountry the Rock and Roll HOF literally makes it a contest
It’s a badge of honor for Prine NOT to be in. It only demonstrates the complete and utter ignorance of those who choose.
Nice one
I think he may have played more than one song. If so please Rock & Roll Hall of Fame show them on TH-cam. Anyways John& the band jammed.
"They were sssssssizzlin'!"
Anybody got the line-up of John's band here ?
Jason Wllber, guitar, Dave Jacques, bass; don't know the keyboardist.
Tribute song for fans of John Prine by songwriter Dennis Callahan.
IS THAT THE FATHER FROM, "CKARISSA EXPLAINS IT ALL AT THE BEGINNING!??""
I think the guy on the keyboards missed the soundcheck.
What is with this audience?
Only a couple or three folks know the song - check out the audience throughtout the performance. You can easily tell which ones - they're ripping right along with every breath!
They are captivated by the genius songwriting! An artists dream!
They are actually "hearing" the song and not just listening!
The only song I knew he did was the one Bonnie Raitt made famous.
Guitar Overkill you’ve lived a sheltered life who’s missed out on some brilliant music up to now.
byknfyr Actually I did know the Illegal Smile one too. And since you don’t know me at all, I’d say your presumption is ridiculous.
Check out You never call me by my name, a song he do wrote with Steve Goodman. Summers End, Paradise, Hello in There etc. etc. etc.
SWM I can’t listen to more than 15 seconds of that hillbilly crap.
broken hearted
how can this be from 1997? John had his neck cancer surgery in 1996. His neck looks intact and his voice hasn't changed. RIP John, you're the best
@Grogu Djarin sorry i had the wrong info
When listening to JP never forget you are being invited to listen to genius. His voice came from his soul!

Love this song
