Thank you for all your comments! Looks like Ting was a terrible choice and Mint might be a cheaper way to go. More than 50% of you that suggest an alternate service says to use Mint. $15/20 for 2/5GB a month. Pretty good!

If you know a chef/cook or big family that uses a Kroger Plus Card (or any other Kroger owned store) to buy lots of groceries, you can ask them to take advantage of their credit toward phone services. It does not effect their fuel points or savings in any way; the phone points accumulate independently. You can actually have 2 separate cards funneling credits into your acct. It does use the Sprint network. Also, you do have to take the time to reload your acct from your credits each month.

Ting has been perfectly reliable and easy to use app. Only for someone like me who's aware of their data use and is on WiFi most of the time. Ting can be good for someone like you because they have a very good referral program. You would probably have free or cheap phone service just because of all the referrals you get from viewers.
It depends on you. Dealing with freedom pop can be a hassel and not worth the time and lowers your productivity. Time & productivity is $. I have a decent cell plan $30/ month cricket wireless. I am very happy for the past few years

Cricket the best. I got unlimited talk, text, & 5gb data for $30. The plan is 40 but I got a 2-line $10 discount. Also freedompop always talk about how it's free, yet they start you off with the paid plan & when you call to downgrade to the free plan......$15
I think perhaps I have honed my skill with Freedompop to require no additional amount of work per month to use it successfully. The changes coming may require some thought.

Bernice Acquah If you know a reliable person that always has their phone bill paid you can get grouped under their plan. $10 discount instead of the $5 with autopay. Meaning $30 a month instead of your current $35. Not sure if you can stack the $5 autopay on top of that as well, but worth a look

1. Inkjet is a waste of cash. 99% of us don't need it. If I really need a quality photo printed, the office supplies shop will do it better than a injket $500 printer.
2. Mobile phone plans... for sure! I spend $30/6mo. Lets me use it data if I really need it but at a high rate. There's free wifi at home, at train stations and all throughout the city. Download music & audiobooks and you can still be engrossed for hours. Home phone for calling friends/family/government/companies. Not needed!
3. I'm with you on the sugar sensitivity. Get my sugar from fruit and just don't buy snacks. I never crave it.
4. Plastic bags as trash bags is gone in Australia. Major supermarkets make you BYO bags now, don't even sell them. I buy proper trash bags in bulk, at least they're quality.
Make sure you build that PC yourself mate!
Does Aus. give bags out for your produce? That's what I use. Yes, I'm looking to build my own.

Brian Fruits have a lot of sugar, but they deliver it in the form of fructose, which does not give your body the glycemic spike that BTB is trying to avoid. Same deal with milk: it has a lot of sugar in the form of lactose, which takes a while to digest in your digestive system before being released to the bloodstream.

I live in London and top tips if you live in any high priced city is rent a room out longish term (obviously need to find the correct tenant who is quiet and does not affect your lifestyle ) - just got a tenant , PhD student and she splits her time between London and Switzerland, renting just 1 bedroom en suite (in my 3 bed apartment) for $1400 a month. Many people can easily free up a room in their home and is a good little side earner for an empty space.
There are risks with find a bad roommate even with all the precautions you can follow. What are the odds of that? From just good/bad stories, it's 30-50%?
I live in capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina and it is by our standards high priced city. And my parents and I have house with 3 bedrooms, big living room, big kitchen, toilet, two corridor,balcony and huge backyard. And that house was just for rent,all of that space. And we rented it for just 125euros.Renting here is cheap. I wish I have my house in London:-)
For the cellphone, get 3 more friends to share a plan from MetroPCS and you get unlimited internet and phone calls for about $25 per line.
That's what I do.
My wife and I have had Republic Wireless as our mobile phone provider for a few years now. We love it. I'm on their older refund plan which is still available if you purchase a phone that works with that plan (I have a Moto 3). This plan only costs me about $13.00 per month total (yes $13.00). You have to purchase a phone with their firmware installed (used ones are readily available on eBay, etc.) - no other phones will work. The phones use WiFi when it is available for calls and data - if no WiFi, it switches seamlessly to cell service. Check out their website.
I love that you don’t use trash bags! I’ve been doing this for years too! Any bag that I get for bread or chips or from a store (which is seldom) or whatever, I use as a garbage bag. Yes, I go to the garbage can more often but my garbage also smells better too and I don’t have to throw some gigantic bag into the dumpster or garbage can. I have my recycling in a bucket and empty that out pretty often too. It’s no big deal! 👍🏼
You can store compost in your fridge for a few days and it wont smell. Increases your fridge opening times but reduces number of times you have to dump your compost.
great points Francis, here in Japan I just choose not to own a printer because all convenience stores offer the service at 10 yen per page. Its nice to not have the upfront cost of the printer, the power bill addition and having more free space in my house. not having a printer also means I only print when it is important because I have to go out to do it.
My last roommate told me about not buying trash bags. Using the plastic bags from stores for trash and the paper bags from groceries for recycling make more sense.
I'm using Puppy Wireless for a phone plan for about 4 years. $29 per month, no contract. They have a variety of minutes/choices and you can get a very low dollar plan if you prefer. I don't necessarily recommend it, as they can be a real hassle with no customer service, but in my rural area, it is somewhat inexpensive. I ported in my own phone, kept my number, it was painless initially. Last year when I got a new phone, the lack of customer service was a real problem and I didn't have a phone for 5 days. Luckily Apple helped me out and over the phone, set up my new phone through the carrier or my new phone would have never been set up for service - as I don't have an Apple store within 5 hours, as I said I'm located very rural.

Use a compost bin too. It reduces household waste very nicely.
Depending on the printer, you can get toner fill kits for around $11 on eBay. That brother printer can definitely be filled for that much. Make sure the kit you get includes the toner cartridge replacement chip, so that you're printer will register it as a full cartridge. I wouldn't fill the factory cartridges more than a couple times as the fusing roll does need to be replaced eventually and is part of the cartridge.
Consumer Cellular is also a good phone plan. I get unlimited call and text, and either 1Gb/$10, 3Gb /$20, or 5Gb / $30, and so on. I never run over, because if I go over, they just upgrade me to the next plan up, and when the next month rolls around, I go to the website and adjust my plan back down, and do it again. Coverage is very good, except one small area way back against the mountains. The plan is marketed towards retirees, but I love it, because there’s no contract, and I can use any cheap phone I pick up from ebay, with no need to recruit or refer people.
Hey Beatthebush this is off topic but could you do a video on the new Propel card from Wells Fargo and American Express? Not to be confused with the old Propel card. I had no idea the cost difference between ink jet and laser was so much! I rarely use my printer at all because the ink jet cartridges dry out and are a nuisance to replace. Definitely will consider switching.

I can relate a lot to this video.
My family used to have an inkjet printer, which cost like 50 bucks just for 40 coloured pages. The company basically sells the printer at dirt cheap prices, then charge a hefty sum for the ink cartridges.
We switched to laser jet printer a few years ago, and only had to buy one cartridge after 1 and a half years. Sadly, it started malfunctioning, so now we own an Epson Ink tank printer, which is like a inkjet printer but with really cheap and plentiful ink.
My family also does the grocery bag thing...bascially we have so much surplus grocery bags that we have a grocery bag to store all the grocery bags, lol. Never had to buy separate garbage bags. It's really worth it, and plus it helps the environment a bit.
i just got a costco card ($60 a year) so i can buy cheaper gas there. i calculated I'll save about $250 a year in gas expense buying costco gas.
Please also write down your estimated time waiting in line vs. a generally no busy but no line place. If you time it right, there could be no line but it's usually 10 minutes where I am.

The cheapest way to save money on fuel is to drive less. I used to do a lot more driving, about 20,000 miles/year. down to about 6000 miles/year now. Mostly because of bicycling. Cycle to work, cycle for groceries. I await your excuses as to why this won't work for you. Follow Beat the bush's honeybadger example: if it's raining, cycle, too far, cycle, too much to carry, get a pack, and cycle.
bootsowen because....exercise sucks and driving is more convenient and takes less time and energy that could be spent doing better things 🤷🏾♀️ that’s my excuse. It would be if I was paying any bills. Can’t just pretend there isn’t a huge trade off with convinience, comfortability and time. Lots of time. Just gotta decide if the opportunity cost is worth saving money. If it is (which it usually is) then I’d do it🤷🏾♀️ but yea, there r valid excuses to not bike everywhere. Especially of ur supermarket, commute, or wherever it is people got to is far as hell.
If you have 10 friends who all get on the same plan and split the bill in some companies it can give you more freedom such as unlimited data and etc for 40 a month. I did it with a big group of friends through sprint. Mine and husbands bill was 80 on the dot for 2 phones with unlimited everything and hot spots. 😉

You also don't need soap for your body, just use water. I havn't used soap to wash my body's skin in a year, and I don't smell. Only use soap for hands everyday , and some shampoo for hair twice a week.

Excellent. Have just switched to laser printer, look forward to my savings as cartridges in UK are around $35 (£25) each change. Have reduced both coke and sweet stuff. We have a charge here for plastic bags so that encourages re-use and less to landfill. :-)

No, there a charge of 5 pence (approx 7 cents) per bag, although no charge where groceries, such as apples, have been pre-wrapped in plastic. Many people keep plastic bags in the trunk of their car for shopping trips. It's a good system once you get used to it.
I went old school and use Tracfone for my cell service. I purchased the 60 day smartphone plan for almost a year. After I accrued my minutes and texts, I switched to paying $50 for one year of service. Now I really only add 1GB of data for $10 when ever I need it.
I signed my parents up for a cricket plan. For 3 lines it’s unlimited talk, text, and data (3Mbps). They share the cost so each user only pays $30 a month.
I invested in a water distiller and quit buying bottled water, a huge savings!!!
It's funny to think people buy bags to essentially hold trash and throw out. I grew up using grocery bags as trash bags too. Now, as an adult, I'm still in that habit. Yes, some grocery stores charge 10c for reusuable plastic bags, but you can still use plastic bags from everywhere else (e.g. clothing stores, produce bags, the bag your double loaves of bread came in from Costco, etc.).

Great video! I would suggest things a single person should not buy. When you have a family with kids it’s very hard not to have cell phone family plan, kids love sweets (but you could tell them it’s bad for their teeth), toss trash at local parks and gas stations to save on trash fees.

I do the garbage bag thing too but I have a two tier system. I have regular garbage bags for just throwing things away and the grocery bags for food. I never really thought of it as a way of saving money but I suppose it is. I just wanted to keep my kitchen trash from smelling bad. Compost is good during the growing season when I have garden clippings. In the autumn/winter I return the bin and save like $12/mo.

I don't and have never had a cell phone plan. I use a "pay as you go" phone with AT&T & costs me about $25 every 2-3 months. I do have a a dinosaur land-line at home but only because it is bundled with my Internet service. Haven't found a way around that yet here in Hawaii...we are kind of limited in our options for Internet access where I live. :(

Besides the fact that ink of inkjet printers are costly, what I noticed from years of buying inkjet printers several times a year, it’s costly in the long run cos the ribbon gets dried it up fast once u don’t use it for a few weeks. Once the ribbon dries up, can’t use the printer itself anymore then I end up buying a new one again. I thought since it was cheap that was the only way to go but since I learned more about diff printers, ever since I got my laser printer, I never had probs anymore. It’s still working well and I can leave it for months without using it & it still works perfectly with sudden bulk documents to print. The printing is also more professional looking then inkjet. Best investment ever.
It's been 10 years that I don't even remember the hassle of using them. Yes, you have to 'get it working' again for an inkjet if you let it sit too long. Lol. Sometimes, it'll take a long time printing test pages wasting paper to get all the pixels in the nozzles to get cleared.

I go to kinkos/UPS store when i need to print something (about every 6 months). it's 25 cents a page, still cheaper than owning a printer +ink cartridge.
Your frequency certainly is important. But going to kinkos might cost you $1 per round trip? ($0.25-0.50 per mile in gas and car depreciation/maintenance)
greentealatte good point! some folks also have access to printers at work and such depending on how much you need to print. The inkjet to laser was a great tip! we battled with like 3 inkjets and paid hundreds in refills before I broke down and bought a laser. Stinks we dont have color but our prints have gone to a fraction of the cost (I know there are color lasers too).
Haven't had a printer for about 5 years, but every once in awhile wish I had one. Normally swing by a printshop or library, even ups or something, very rare.
I don't know if you've looked into Google Fi. But it's a pretty good deal and you can bring your phone and phone number over.
Here’s a hack for you guys. I work in the cellular industry . Option #1: Find someone over the age of 55 and get them to open an account for you at t mobile and ask for the senior citizen’s discount ($70 for two lines). This is $35 (per person) for premium unlimited service that normally costs $70 for one line alone. OR if you can find 6 people, try to get someone that has military affiliations. This will give you 7 lines for $140, which would be $20 per person. Taxes included in all these plans btw. It’s the best bang for your buck if you can manage to acquire the discounts.

When you live in US or Brazil where you can get free supermarket bags you have no reason to buy trash bags, but in Europe you need it.
I’m pretty sure I have the cheapest/best value cell phone plan in Ontario. We have unbelievably high rates (3-4 years ago for 2.5gb with talk and text at the company I worked for was 95 bucks) now I’m with a prepaid company that piggybacks off one of the huge company’s towers and I get 6.5gb with unlimited talk and text for 49 bucks CAD. No overages and no contracts and I buy used phones
In dual cartridge ink jet printers, you can just load one cartridge. No need to spend the money for the 2nd ink jet cartridge. Or just try to avoid printering....just upload a document to Google drive and access it from your smart phone

Also we aren’t allowed to put out trash in anything BUT trash bags but I definitely limit the amount by using shopping bags in each room and stuffing the trash bags more full than having a trash bag in every room every week

Ha ha... Yes, things are handled roughly, but only to the extent they can handle it.
Bottles of ink from texas are about $10 a set and carry about 4-10 refills per bottle. Not sure on the cents per page but entry cost is still a valid concern if you're merely using it for part time or seasonal level ebay. Additional I resize my labels about %33 smaller and make them kind of grey or light ink mode so I think I do pretty good.
Hmmm... I'm just glad I never have to unplug the inkjet anymore. That is a thing of the past for me. No more inkjet!
How in the world. 90-200$ a month for a phone plan??? Even 40$ would be way over budget for me, I'm sad to hear so many people pay this much for so little.
I pay roughly 18.5$/month, and get unlimited text, talk and data, ontop of that i get 6GB data in all of Europe.
As phone plans go, when you live in a rural area like I do, you go with what works, not cheaper or cheap.
Fruit is like candy to me.

The laser printers are great - I have a laser All-In-One: a color printer-scanner-fax devise myself.
I like it a lot. There is an important point I'd like to make though.
You see: if you want to print the best photographs, you have to get yourself a photo-printer.
And such a printer would be an INKJET one: it uses color inks designed specifically for creating photographs.
You will have to print 10 photos a week constantly to make a photo-printer worthwhile. These days, I just send them to my local photo developer. So depends on your volume.

an empty refrigerator is inefficient. fill half of the fridge up with 2 liter bottles filled with water, to act as a "cold battery". when u open and close a mostly empty fridge, the cool air inside leaks out faster, versus having something in the fridge that retains the cold.

A tracfone with a 1 year plan is great! I have saved a lot of money by not paying monthly service fees.

I use rechargeable batteries for my clocks, room light and massage machine. I had to spend the battery charger in the beginning and cost looks like more expensive than regular batteries, but massage machine especially need to change batteries every 2 months so it is worth to use rechargeable one.
I recommend Republic Wireless. A gigabyte of data and unlimited text and calling costs 20 dollars a month. It is pretty good. And you can get more data by paying 5 dollars extra. The issue is that it seems that the service doesn't support iPhones at the moment. It is probably because it uses a separate texting app.

On the HP plan you pay $4 /month for 50 sheets no matter how much color or how large the print. They mail you new cartridges when your printer is low. Ink jet!
That's $50/month. In 10 years you will spend $500. I had my printer for close to 10 and spent 0. Watch out for those monthly expenses, they add up over the years.
No, it’s four dollars a month flat rate and unused pages carry over. Its an amazing deal. I have a laser printer but it only has black ink. Im a paper crafter so I print a lot of photos. I love it!!:)
Opps... $4/month = $48/year = $480 in 10 years. So if you print more than that, then it is worth it for you.
BeatTheBush I had stopped printing anything because of the high cost of printer ink. Now that HP has this deal I print out my limit every month. If it’s something I know I’m going to print I will use up those pages. The app tells me exactly how many pages I have left. They have plans for more pages at the same unbelievable price. If you are a person that prints out photos for scrapbooks it’s a real money saver. I long to simplify my life but at this point can’t seem to let go of much. I’m disabled so if I need something I can’t just run out and get it. I have it or I have to wait until I’m having a good day to get it. I’m the girl that always has everything you need in her purse. It makes for a very heavy purse:(I just get so much glee from having something someone needs and making their life a little easier. God bless! Thank you for getting back to me :). I know it's not finances channel, but could you share some of your life philosophies, points of view, how you do treat and act some things different than society? Switch to Mint Mobile. It uses the t-mobile network and reduces your bill to $16 with unlimited text talk and 2gb. Need more data they have $20 or $25 plans as well. Been using them for over a year.

Personally, when I have obtained a lot of value from somewhere, I would look to contribute somehow. The t-shirt is one way and it is up to you really.

My Brother laser printer is fine and I've had it for years. My phone plan is under $30 CAD. I rarely by candy, and like you prefer fruits for sugar. I buy compostable bags. And like you I don't care what people think.

I find buying brand new clothes to be a scam. Most clothes depreciate like a sports car, that is to say they drop massively in value after first wear. You can get top quality and top brands for almost nothing if you know how to use eBay or consignment stores. I'm a very frugal person but there's a happy medium. Buying a free or 5.00 a month cellphone plan from an unreliable carrier is over doing it. What if you have a time sensitive call, a medical emergency, or need data for a map? Just use Cricket, Metro pcs or Boost mobile, it's the SAME NETWORK as att, sprint or verizion at a 33-50% discount. I pay 40.00 a month/ 480 year for unlimited calling and 3.5 GB's of data and get coverage out in rural Kentucky to nowhere Texas.

Mobile phone... I use Prepaid Red Pocket, 1GB data a month (with AT&T network). It's $15/mo. (caveat you buy the yearly plan of $180/yr).
Just go with project fi phone plan. You get a discount on the phone and the plan is cheap.
I know a guy who doesn't have trash service. He returns his trash to thr grocery store, and burns stuff. He's a menace.
Im grandfatherd into an old verizon plan for $51/mo. unlimited talk/text 250 megabytes of data. I only really need the internet service while at home so i get it from wifi. Verizon tries to get me off that plan and onto a newer plan but i wont let it go because for that cheap of plan from verizon the service is excellent. If i use up the 250 mb it will roll over into 1gb and charge me for it, but i never needed it. If im away from wifi i turn on my data for a quick check on my emails or stock price, then i immediatley turn it off. So for a $51 Verizon plan, im not complaining.
Happy you touch on data plans. Do you just use freedom pop to up load your videos? Doesn't seem like it would be enough?
Freedompop cannot handle the data loads of uploading a video. I just use regular wired internet for that.

Verizon is the only network that will work in my house! $40 prepay, $149 phone. But man I miss my Zmax pro w Metro PCS. I also, gasp, have a magic Jack home phone. It's cheap cheap VOIP. You ever looked into it? I love it. Got 2 free months of Prime on Prime Day and bought Kindle Unlimited for 2 year @ $140. That was just so much better than $10 a month I couldn't pass it up! Before I would cancel every few months to save $10. I've decided that's my line in the Sand for being too cheap! Glad I'll have it for 2 years, and binging on Bosh!

What's your opinion on buying dupes off of Wish? Was just looking at sneakers and some of them look really cool and avantgarde but just aren't branded. From the reviews they appear to be half decent.

LoI I have no printer since I very rarely print anything. I don't have phone plan since I use company phone. I VERY rarely buy candies since I don't have much of sweet tooth and nowadays companies are well-stocked in this regard anyway. I'm still guilty on trash bags though since the ones you get from restaurants/stores are too small for my kitchen trash...
Do you compost? Or have a separate compost bin? If you do then it greatly reduces landfill trash. Your landfill trash doesn't smell anymore if you do so.

great tips, I was only half interested on your video when I clicked on it, but you came through, I %100 agree even if I fail at following some of your tips, I've been meaning to switch to a laser printer for a while, its on the list, but I spend about $50/mnth on wireless from verizon because it just works, its reliable, I get service in the jungle, jk jk and it is pretty hassle free compared to my tracphone experience which was a pain in the ass, so as much I like to save money I also like money well spent on good tools and service that just work, dont buy junk cuz you spend money twice, and I LOVE THE HONEY BADGER!!! almost as much as I love WOLVERINES!!!
