@@ChristmasLore yeaah thank you very much. I am careful it’s just that this is my first time playing a game like this and I needed some guide videos I didn’t expect the top comment would be a spoiler it was against my will😭. But it’s okay I’m enjoying this game thus far. We have the same party btw!!!
Lohse has the most personality but Ifan has the most depth in my opinion. Beast, Red Prince, Lohse and sorta Fane have such an isolated story. Sebille and Ifan have a lot of overlap with different stories and I feel like those (with Fane being the most prevalent in the main story) are the core characters, with the others more being add ons that easily coudlve been left out without the game being less. still, glad they're there
Personally 1 & 2 Fane and Red Prince (Can't decide which I like better) Fane's story is so entwined with the overall story and mystery that it's amazing, whereas Red Prince is a story of a fallen prince regaining his throne and bringing forth the new golden age of his people by bringing back the dragons. (i can forgive the plothole because I didn't even know the dragons had their own god) 3) Sebile: Mind controlled slave getting revenge on her master is pretty cool 4) Lohse: Never cared much for her singing but her personal struggle with a powerful Archdemon is cool, but didn't really have much to do ingame (iirc) 5) Ifan: Eh, sure I feel bad for him having been a tool in killing the people that raised him and been betrayed by his best friend, but IDK I feel like a story like this or similar to this has been done before and it's nothing new 6) Beast: Don't really care for pirates and yeah his story needed some more love or we should have visited the Dwarven kingdom to get some more personal investment or something.
Only problem I have with the Prince is that he is SUCH an ass. Like playing as him, I have had to actively avoid a lot of his dialogue. His dialogue options are primarily “Be a douche and winge”
@@niceguyofgames9490 Completely agree! I like the mission but him as a person/being sucks! I love Beast. He is so fun. And I love pirates. I love the pirate theme. There’s no pirate RPGs so Lyrian adding this was very fun. However they should have delved way more into pirates imo and had us visit a dwarves kingdom so we could connect more with Beast!
My top is: 1: Lohse (The candle scene is one of my favorite choices/consequences in a game) 2: Red Prince (I can ignore the plothole and I love the character development prince has durint the adventure) 3: Fane (I like how it ties with the main story) 4: Sebile ( besides what you said I really enjoy when characters have revenge as a motivation for their story ) 5: Beast (It's an OK story, I think beast would benefit a lot if his pirate or noble side was more developed during the game) 6: Ifan (I find him pretty boring tbh)
I'd be interested in a dlc about the nemesis demons for dos2. Seems like there are 4 major factions in the story - godwoken, black ring and god king, magisters and the demons. The demons are pretty strong and they are all over arx and blood moon isle (sanguine mansion, the doctor, etc), and almost all the enemies you face are black ring followers. Would be pretty cool to have a separate campaign or even additional quests related to demons
for me, itd be 1.Fane 2.Red Prince 3.Lohse 4.Sebille 5.Ifan 6.Beast I had little knowledge about lore conflicts before playing the game, all of that i learned later, so the inconsistencies to me were explained by the potential power of the godwoken...Red Prince just got me through his character, I love these stories where some basically weaponizes their ego as a superpower...For all of his arrogance, prince can mostly back up what he aims to do, and i love that his story is not about him accepting himself, but accepting the responsibility and realizing his potential impact he could have on rivellon
I had sebille, lohse, ifan on my party. To me sebille was the best written character of those three. Dialogue for her was insane. Unlike most people in here i personally find both lohse and ifan quite dull as a companion.
I agree with putting Sebile and Lohse at the top given how unique the circumstances are and how they involve some many side NPCs with multiple ways to end them, but i would also put Fane there for similar reasons. For the bottom I would put either Beast or Ifan as those stories just follow the Magister and Dwarf stories and the characters really just don't feel like they add much to be blunt. That leaves the Red Prince in the middle, his story adds a bit with history of dragons and dragon knights being hunted to extinction (or near extinction at least) and his destiny is to join with the Red Princess to bring about the rebirth of the dragons and dragon knights (if i remember correctly) and then the reveal when you confront the House of Shadows that it would lead to a world war against lizards and their entire extinction. Maybe I'm crossing gameplay impact (crossing story paths and how the world changes depending on who you pick and have with you) with pure story writing but my list would go generally, though the top two may flip depending on the specific playthrough: 6) Beast 5) Ifan 4) Red Prince 3) Lohse 2) Sebile 1) Fane
For me Ifan and Fane are the Divinity Original Sin 2 (1.Fane 2.Ifan 3.Lohse 4.Sebile 5.Beast 6.Rp) There's 2 main stories, 1 is about lucian, the divine order, the godwokens, alexander, souce magic etc, and 1 is a secret plot The first, Ifan is directly connected, he has a goal and when shit happens, he is put in a good place of importance on the story, good dialogue standing his ground as a badass person, plus he has a very good unique neutral good final, The secret one you will have full details with Fane with some crazy things no one has The other origin characters in my opinion work better as companions, their stories are not fully correlated with the final plots unlike Ifan and Fane, and are to ne better at being companion stories
Also Fane and Loshe have the deep connections with the overall background lore. Ifan is personally invested with one of the main factions through out the story. Red Prince, Sebille and Beast feel more like side characters who stories don't fully align with the main objective.
Yeah I agree. Might have Beast on the lowest of the list because he was boring and very unsatisfying ending to it. I only think Red Prince and Beast had poor writings, I enjoy the rest in your order.
I feel like you being so knowledgeable about the Divinity series has tainted your opinion of a lot of the companions. I think Fane is the most interesting companion, by a pretty large margin.
If you are new to the game he is by far the most interesting companion. His interactions with the npcs help establish ALOT of the background lore the main story of D:OS2 revolves around.
Not sure about Fane. Nothing in the game felt more emotionally distressing than when i found out that Fane caused everything, and also when Fane's daughter ends up being Dallas.
For someone who only plans to play once, do you think is best to take a custom or origin character if my priority is to know their storylines, dialogues etc?
Once? You might as well do a custom character then. This game has more content if you play as an origin character, and remember there's more than one so playing once wont get you the whole picture. Playing as a custom character will let you experience their stories but not 100%. Its a trade off. Also, origin characters aren't voiced if you're playing as them. Also, Fane is the one you might wanna play as, as he is the most important character "story wise"
@LWKGD I can see the point about Lohse! But Fane is without a doubt the most central lore character. His story is tied to main plot the most. How can you not care for him?
I usually just play the game solo at this point. Mostly because I find it hard to believe that my character would trust most of these characters. Lohse? I'm sorry lady, but the things in your head are unreasonably dangerous. Sebile? Might've been an option if her first response to me greeting her wasn't stabbing me. Red prince? I fear I'm underqualified to travel with him. Fane? I'll not aid this unknowable horror from prehistoric time. Ifan? Seems kinda cool, but I really don't like wolves so out he is. Beast? He looks like a pirate. That's all. The road to divinity seems lonely sometimes, but them all selling their souls to the godking in act 3 kinda vindicated my choice.
Think fane story is more "epic" like the story of a main protagonist while the other are more, like you say "emotional". Maybe except the red prince wich is more a prophecy rather than an adventure/epic.
Hmmm... Rating characters is ez. Beast is great. He is so compassionate. And so outlaw. He is so cool. Now his story line yes, does feel a little separate from the main story. Ifan seems like the main character. He has so many xtra lines. The crossbow only he can get. Everywhere he goes he knows people. He seems like the main character and he is really cool character. Lohse is so fun and likable. She is very cool. Her interactions are not always beneficial. Starting from getting into a fight in the very beginning with the elf prisoners in the cave. And of course her dealings with the docter. Which is cool cuz it goes all the way to the end of the game to basically the biggest boss. Sebille is a bad ass. Red prince is just a ass. Fane is funny and annoying at the same time. His story id's super cool if i could ever figure it out.
Agree with your point But my rank will : 1. lohse 2. Fane 3. Sebille 4. Ifan 5. Beast 6. Red I place beast over red prince just bcs i really like beast overall personality. That lizard is jerk, kinda spoiled. Ifan story is good but let down toward the end. Sebile story is great made me confuse, and the decisions of her future is too hard to choose wixh one is the best. Fane has amazing and interesting story, but i think it can be better. I put lohse number 1 if i play her as main, but maybe place her 2nd or 3rd of she my companion, idk why but feel different if play as her as main
Isn't the thing about lizards and dragons kinda like the in-game relation between imps and demons (i.e. they have different gods but a related origin)?
@@MortismalGaming I wasn't disagreeing with your explanation. I just think that there's an in-universe precedent for different races created by different gods being said to be related. Since Demons are children of the Lord of Chaos, and Imps are said to have come from Demons, Red Prince's story wouldn't be singled out as an exception and maybe it isn't so far fetched.
