The thing with the United States is that development in American metropolitan areas tends to focus on sprawling the suburbs out rather than building the urban cores up. Could probably be fixed by replacing the current property tax model with a land value tax model-if property taxation were to only tax land values, and left improvements untaxed, that would incentivize larger high rises in the urban core of a metro over new low-density development in the suburbs.

The guy who was funding the project was arrested for fraud. And since then he stopped funding the project to complete it that’s way it stopped half way, It was shame they abandoned it everything was nearly complete even the foundation all they had to to do was just build up till it reaches max hight.

I've taken a peak at the New Capital Project by the Egyptian government and I can actually see the Oblisco getting completed. A lot of the buildings planned are already in construction and an impressive amount of buildings are already topped out. The Oblisco will likely follow suit, if there isn't some huge upheaval in the next few years. The Jeddah Tower almost seems like a hopeless case at this point, but more importantly its highest floor isn't that much higher than that of the Burj Khalifa. The Oblisco will be an absolutely gargantuan building.

How are y'all planning to "evacuate the evacuations" of people? It's well known to the "construction geeks" that Burj Kalifa isn't connected to an outside system that would handle waste, and they have trucks cued up daily to remove it.

The 1km building in Egypt looks like a bad idea. If they build it exactly how it looks in this video, then there are simply not enough set backs, air slots, or breakups in the design to reduce wind load and the vortices that actually cause the building sway. So the proposed Egypt building looks like a terrible idea.
