I am a Chris Cornell big fan, he is my musical hero. But I swear I just listened on their both live Cochise, Chris and Richie, I felt Richie sounds more Chris than Chris himself, his texure, technicality sounds more consistent and polished in live. Richie has above human level talent.
The range voice of Kotzen is unbelievable, not a secret he is one of the best. Now add his own culture of music on his largest discography and u have THE MAN, the GOAT. But rest in peace Cornell btw.
Cara, você não esta entendendo, a maioria músicas que o Cornell canta no Soundgarden linhas mais graves, porem não deixa de ser aguda. Pega Slaves And Bulldoozers e Head Down para você ver.
@@magicpassos É que, no caso, Chris era um barítono que expandia sua tessitura para a de um tenor. Richie, por outro lado, é um tenor que nunca levou sua voz tão ao limite (pelo menos não tanto quanto o Chris).
Kotzen's lower notes sound like Cornell. If somebody had to replace him in Audioslave, he's a great choice. But Cornell's upper range and belting/screaming ability was second to none - dude could blow the roof off like nobody else.
Lenny Persin Only towards the latter part of the 90’s. Listen to Soundgarden live from 88-95 and then again after they reunited and Chris could match the studio recordings
that intro they played could have been a new song they have written. amazing how higly skilled musicians can just jam something like that and then possibly write a song just like that
I so agree, but I don't think Chris's wife, Vicki the old hag would allow it. The members of Soundgarden can't stand her and plus her drama controlling hysterics, Ritchie would not put up with. Hopefully, you know all about the history of Vicki, the old hag.
He wouldn’t want to. He’s a genius guitar player and prolific writer along with being a singer. He has a great solo career with the freedom to write and play what he wants, which is a mix of rock, funk and blue-eyed soul.
@@gamefreak457 - Interesting thing is Chris Cornell is 5 yrs (or 6 yrs?) older than Richie Kotzen and Kotzen had been musically active releasing 'SOLO' albums way before Chris Cornell did his solo albums. Even within bands, Richie's band 'Arthur's Museum' released their album few months before Soundgarden. Kotzen was a teenager whilst Cornell would have been mid 20's..Kotzen was musically active long before Cornell and released his first studio album as a teenager.
Mareko Tuli I agree. I like his solo stuff a lot better than Chris’s solo stuff. Chris’s solo stuff is all kinda boring acoustic. Richies is some funk/blues/Soul/Hard Rock with awesome vocals and great guitar including soloing and riffs. So much more enjoyable
For me the perfect match is Glenn Hughes. He'll never sound live like Kotzen here. Glenn can sing Jesus Christ Pose perfectly in the same way he did it. th-cam.com/video/cXD274JmbZ4/w-d-xo.html
Is that Chris Cornell? Nope, it is the great, Richie Kotzen. Gee, I can't get over how much he sounds like Chris. Wouldn't it be awesome if Richie and the members of Soundgarden came together to reform the band.
I agree with you. I feel the same when I’m at a concert and people watch the concert through their damn cell phones. And no, I wouldn’t mind if I couldn't watch this video because nobody filmed it with a cell phone.
Kotzen is a beast…always was. Glad to see him not wasting his time in Bands like Poison anymore! The only way the Soundgarden thing would work in my head is if him and Kim Thayil spent a lot of time jamming together and he combined his style with Kim’s. I don’t think people really get how interesting a songwriter Chris Cornell was. I don’t think anybody can ride lyrics like Cornell though… Maybe Maynard from Tool, but few people can get that imagery and simile the way Cornell could.
Bro, I couldn’t agree more. As great of as singer as Cornell was, he was an INCREDIBLE writer lyrically & musically. His songs are full of so many strange chord shapes/changes, diminished chord all sorts of crazy shit. There’s some stuff off “Euphoria Morning” that has 20-25 different chords. Cornell & Maynard are my favorite two singers/songwriters All-Time. Their ability to turn out great material regardless of the medium is insane! Also, RK is a beast. I’ve been a huge fan ever since the Poison album “Native Tongue”. They get a bad rap, but that album with Ritchie has some great material & his vocals have always been fantastic.
Considering his age I think its pretty good. Both of their vocal cords have had it after decades of strain. Listen to this video of Cornell in 2017. I love Chris and no disrespect but even he had trouble hitting those high notes after all those years of screaming when he was younger. Still a GOAT tho! th-cam.com/video/F4CN_aCQvvo/w-d-xo.html
I really don't think this is going to happen. It's maybe a cool idea at first, sure Kotzen has a "similar" voice but not strong enough for some Soundgarden songs (imo)...and this is maybe the smallest "problem". Kotzen is also a virtuoso guitar player, that's in his dna (not for Soundgarden's style) and a great lyricist by himself (I can't really see him to like to replace Cornell and singing his songs only). For me (imo) Soundgarden ended with Cornell's death anyway...but this decision is up to the other remaining band members.
Please tell me how that could have been better. I don’t debate for fun and I’m really bad at it so please tell me. I’m sure you will make some kind of point (hint: it’s recorded on a phone and that’s literally it). Wow……..
I feel like Richie is the best person to cover this song as he has an incredibly similar voice to Chris Cornell. RIP Chris
You must see Once Mekel sing this song
I've thought the same thing for MANY MANY years. R.I.P. Cornell U are missed.
I'm not hearing it at all to be honest
Which is similar to Terence Trent Darby. All great singers

so true! haha
He admitted that actually hahaha
Feels weird Richie without holding a guitar.
Truly.
Chris is smiling from on high.
3 gigantes! e o Kotzen encaixa muito no timbre do Cornell.

Awesome!! Incredible!! Great!! Thank youuu!!!! ;)
Well done, about time
Now it's all about love, respect n music!
Please offer Richie a spot in SoundGarden!!!!
Soundgarden is no more. The band is now 3rd secret, led by two crappy vocalists. Go take a look.
effin awesome

He couldn't replicate the high notes very well live, Cornell was always a better studio singer.

pineapplepeanuts kotzen can lerform a 2+hr show without losing his voice....just saying...
how about mike patton?
