I was going to make a joke about Vakama saying 'I can explain everything', but he won't. Then I realised it's entirely in-character for him to use wordplay like that to not actually lie to Tahu whilst still keeping things secret. So this is very well written on top of being very well animated and voiced.
Loved that look and shrug Jaller and Tahu shared near the end there. One moment trying to knock eachothers masks off, the next, brothers in befuddlement at Vakama.
The sound composition, dialogue and voice work are absolutely stunning, far surpassing any we've ever heard even in the official films Excellent work and effort to all who put their time into this.
This gave me chills! Brought me right back to experiencing MNOG for the first time. Seeing it animated like a storyboard makes me want a full-length feature film of this.
yo i cannot get enough of that background music i absolutely LOVE how it sounds, it’s perfect for Bionicles setting. hits the Techy and Fantasy vibes at the same time. whenever an ost for this is launched i’m keeping an eye out
Vakama: I can explain everything. And by “explain everything,” he means “concoct an elaborate ruse that won’t be explained for at least another three years.”
I love that we get to see Turaga Vakama use his powers and combat. I feel like the comics/games/movies never showcased his abilities knowing very well the turagas still have some power albeit in a weaker form. This was awesome!! Can't wait to see more.
@starblossom264 Everything in this animatic was drawn by our storyboard and coloring team. Which is part of why we will not be doing any more animatics for the time being. Full animation on the other hand...
I am so incredibly hyped for this series! An animated retelling of Bionicle told by passionate fans is everything I could've dreamed of and I'm so exited to see where you guys go. The animatic and art was wonderful, I really liked the fight sequence. Vakama still being a lowkey badass was so cool! The voice acting was incredibly superb! You guys did an amazing job casting. Plus the dialogue was great. "Apparently he thinks himself the Toa of Stupidity"! If I were to have one critique, I feel like at times Tahu's characterization feels too brutal. Him fighting the Ta-Koro Guard makes plenty sense, after all they attacked him, of course he would be enraged and fight back. Its a pretty clear extension to what was implied in MNOG and in line with his character. But I feel like him continuing to attack after the Matoran stopped, going as far as to call them pests and seemingly move to kill Jaller goes a bit far. While Tahu always struggled with violent and destructive tendencies, he also always had a heroic spirit, and I'm worried that him immediately moving to kill them will make his more noble moments harder to believe. He always knew his anger was a problem, and I can see him struggling with rage even after they stop, and definitely yelling at them. But just that last bit of him moving to kill feels like it takes his violent tendencies a bit further than they are in the original. Other than that bit though, his characterization is pretty good. At the very least, if you keep this direction with Tahu it'll be very important to place a lot of emphasis on his development as the series progresses, and show his journey to become more heroic and less impulsively violent. Which honestly with enough care and development, this interpretation of Tahu could be an incredibly powerful character arc! Just got to make sure you really give audiences a reason to "forgive" Tahu for how far he goes at first and show definitively how heroic the Toa of Fire can be. Again, this looks amazing, and I'm really excited for what you guys put out. Its so awesome to see how creative the fandom has become!
Happy to see you enjoyed the animatic. On the topic of Tahu's characterization, I wouldn't place too much stock on this being the endgame Tahu character. This is one snippet from early on in the show. Tahu's arc has depth and lots of complexities. I will say this is one of his most aggressive points, but his violent tendencies and brashness both get addressed through his arc. I can't wait for everyone to see the strong, protective, and considerate leader he becomes.
@@BionicleIliad Ok! I’m on board, it sounds like you’ve got a really deep understanding of his character. I’m really looking forward to how you take his arc!
Considering how many species of Rahi talk in Bionicle, I'm not quite sure why the Matoran were surprised hearing Tahu speak to them while under the assumption that he's a Rahi.
Was disappointed by the difference in art quality from the thumbnail to the actual video, but overall this was really well done! The voice acting in particular was a lot stronger than I thought it would be. But overall this brought new life to that moment in MNOG. Great work!
Nice animation of your Bionicle fanseries, it looks similar to the MNOG and 2015 animations. Then again this is a story board art for a work in progress.
Dude this was an amazing job the art work was amazing. Spencer butler did an amazing job as playing Toa Tahu, as well as Benjamin Burrows and Samuel Pitt. I can’t wait for the next story 😁😁😁
Oh man I'd give my left widget for a fully realized animation of this, legit a professional show on its own right with the art direction, voice acting and aesthetic. Who did you get for Tahu? Sounds like a pro!
We've very privileged to have Spencer on our team not only as an excellent voice actor but also as a very exacting voice director who's gotten us the best cast we could possibly ask for.
@@BionicleIliadOh man well I can't wait to see what else is in store! (And inshallah you guys do some more casting in the future and I can bag a one liner🙏)

Seems nobody else has said it, so I will; I love how this version shows becoming a Turaga has NOT deprived Vakama of his strength like _The Mask of Light_ would have you believe 🫡

I love it when the Turaga start using their mask powers.
It’s fun to see when it’s not just the Toa doing it.
I thought Vakama was pretty badass when he stopped the fight; and I think it makes sense, cause he used to be a Toa himself.
Drew the thumbnail for this! A spectacular production all around, I was mega impressed with the voice acting and score! Well done, all!
And what a thumbnail it is! It's currently my device's homescreen. So thanks for that.
It's so RAW
The thumbnail is amazing.
When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought it was a spacemarine helmet from warhammer 40k
The thumbnail iz so fucking good holy shit
WOW, that VA on Tahu is doing a KILLER Scott McNeil impression! I'm so impressed!

amazing work here guys!!
This is amazing, I can see it so clearly as a cartoon adaption for Bionicle first chapters. From the designs, to the script.
