Hey guys! Nice to meet you! I'm here thanks to Angela and the collaboration! I'm blown away at how much you made out of those pumpkins!! You guys seem like you make a great team! Thanks for sharing with us all!
I cut them in slices, dehydrate, then grind into flour, we clean them- rub them inside with olive oil and sea salt, then stuff them with seasoned Hamburg,onions,potatoes,cabbage,celery- bake for 1 hour for a complete meal. Then we cut rinds off ,scoop meat out and puree it in chicken stock for a soup Put slices in a pie pan ,add maple flavoring, cream, raw sugar with grated cinnamon and bake for 45 minutes. We also feed the rinds to our chickens with greens And of course we also make pumpkin pie, cake, bread, and cookies
Okay you guys are amazing!!! I can't believe how much you showed us so quickly! The pumpkins are gorgeous!!! I want to get learn all of these different things to freeze dry and how to use! The cheesecake bites.....ummmm yum! Those trays look like it made light work?!? I love cream cheese, pumpkin and powdered sugar mixed. Oh and cause Momma would love, maybe swirl in some chocolate ❤😂
My daughter and a couple of friends make pumpkin rolls for Thanksgiving and Christmas, One year there was no canned pumpkins around our area - freeze frying will make their lives a lot easier!! And who does not like pumpkin seeds!!
I love that you don't waste anything from your volunteer pumpkins. What a blessing to have all of those pumpkins come up. My chickens would eat every one. I am hoping to get a freeze dryer this year so I can preserve more. Right now I just puree and freeze. It was so hot last year that the ONE volunteer pumpkin I did have come up, roasted outside. TFS!
Hi Providents...hope all is well my hack...i love pickles...never throw pickle 🥒 juice out...buy fresh cucumbers 🥒 cucumbers 🥒 wah thoroughly hot water slice and put them in the juice rhey are the freshest omgoodness wonderful pickles....enjoy
I had surprise butternut squash grow, thanks to our chickens. Covered our whole back yard. But we did have squash 😅. I also seen another TH-cam channel make pumpkin pie, ready to use. She freeze dried everything you goes in a pie, sealed it in jar all she did was add liquid and cooked it.
Oooohhh.. pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin in my oatmeal! Thank you for sharing your “pumpkin experience”! And those pumpkin seeds! 👌
I started watching your channel while on a mission with my wife in Sweden. I have learned so much from you. This video on freeze drying pumpkin is very fascinating! We purchased our freeze dryer just before we left on our mission and now that we are back,I can't wait to try your tips
Love all the ways you gave us for preservation of those pumpkins. This collab has made me a believer in the freeze dryers. I use to think they were so overpriced, but the ease of preserving really makes it a viable tool in our arsenal. I want one!
What awesome things that you did with your freeze dried pumpkins! It’s great that you made doggy treats with the pumpkin discard/ waste. Once again, AWESOME IDEAS guys! 😊
So excited that you are part of Freeze Dried February. I love pumpkin too and think all of your pumpkin recipes look great. Learned a lot, as usual, watching your video. 😊
I make all my cat and dog's food and treats. I can't wait till I can get one of the freeze dryers. This will help me to be able to keep their foods and treats for long term. OOOOH I am so excited and am taking massive notes on my future food preservation. Thank you for sharing.
I'm still evaluating my circumstances, but i love freeze dryed fruit! Thanks for all these ideas and showing how to prep seed for saving and eating! ❤ No waste!
Kylene, you are super cute! Love seeing the two of you bounce off each other as you teach. I never thought of blending up the leftovers for the dogs. Great idea.
My favorite pumpkin food is pumpkin bread with raisins. My kids love it without the raisins. I clean out the pumpkin and bake it, then puree the pulp and freeze it, 1 cup to a bag and use it all year long. I don't have a freeze dryer. ❤️👍🇺🇲
Saving the seed is a great way to make sure you have pumpkins in the future. I’m learning more about saving seeds too. I will look for the recipes for te treats, they look amazing, especially the cheesecake bites!!
I recently pressure canned pumpkin for the first time. Your video has given me some ideas for the next time I need to preserve pumpkin. I especially love the way you prepared the puree to add to dog food. Such a great way to give our pup extra nutrition.
We are also on a "no waste" kick around our house. Ask me how I use a rotisserie chicken! LOL We use dried pumpkin in our home-made dog food too. Thank you for the fun video.
I haven’t done pumpkins.. but have done squash and oh my! I roast them, mash them, spread them on my trays and freeze dry them. Once they are done I blend it into a powder and then I have instant squash! We usually add a bit of butter and brown sugar or sometimes just salt and pepper. It’s the absolute best.. just spend some time prepping and then the rest of the year I don’t have to mess with cooking a big ole squash if I want some with dinner.
I also LOVE pumpkin! I had never considered using the pieces nd parts to create puppy pumpkin treats. For sure on this year's list of preserving. I love to add pumpkin to my oatmeal cookies with dried cranberries, pecans and orange zest. Thank you for this video and all your uses for 0 waste pumpkin preserving. Thank you to Angela and the sponsors for Freeze Dried February.
Oh my goodness! I am so excited for all these recipes. I’m getting my first freeze dryer in a couple months and I’m planting pumpkins for the first time.
This was super inspiring. I recently discovered how great pumpkin is when a neighbor gave me one of their sugar pies. I saved the seed and am looking forward to growing them myself
You are FANTASTIC! I ❤ your channel. Keep growing those accidental pumpkins and so happy to see you in Freezedryer February. This video gave so many ideas.
You can dehydrate it and it will store for a few years, pressure canning is a bit tricky so make sure you look up current guidelines, or you can freeze it for a year or so. Those are both good short-term storage options. Freeze-drying is the only long-term option that I know of. Quite frankly, you can do everything with short term. Pumpkins will last most of the winter if just kept cool and dark. You can freeze the cooked pumpkin. If you grow a garden, you will get a new supply every year. This video focused on freeze-drying but you can absolutely preserve the pumpkin without a freeze-dryer.
Oh, this was definitely the video for me. I grew so many pumpkins this past season I was giving them away. I did preserve a lot of them, but I am so excited to try the cheesecake bites and the pumpkin pie bites. Thank you so much.💕
Thank you!! You made me rethink growing pumpkins this year aaaaand another way a freeze dryer can be an asset to my family. My favorite pumpkin anything is a pumpkin roll. Never made one, but it is my favorite!
I came here for freeze dried February and found so many interesting videos I ended up subscribing. I’ve already watched your videos on extending the shelf life of brown rice and Aloo Palak, and there are several more I want to watch tonight. I’m glad I found your channel.
You guys make excellent videos and I LOVE how you showed all the ways to take advantage of a "volunteer" crop and waste nothing. We had the same thing happen in our compost pile last summer with Butternut Squash. WHAT a blessing! We got 20 beautiful squash, so we had enough to cure, can, blanch, and freeze, as well as share with family.
Thank you! Love the dog food supplement for their food. After making chicken bone broth I pull off everything left on the bones and freeze dry it for dog treats! They LOVE it
I’m definitely trying the cheese cake bites. This year I made a quadruple batch of roasted pumpkin soup and freeze dried them into 4 serving MREs. -Natalie
Kylene & Jonathan- so glad you joined this collaboration! You two are so fun to watch!! I love the pumpkin ideas. I freeze dry but had never considered freeze drying a pumpkin or gourd. Maybe grind some of the cooked pumpkin meat to make a pumpkin spice and add it to favorite beverages and foods. Yummy! Thank for the great idea!!
I've never been a fan of pumpkin until I had some white chocolate chip pumpkin cookies. They were amazing and won me over. Thank you for sharing the different ways of using/preserving pumpkins.
Love your channel ❤️ we are not that much of a pumpkin eating house so I will not be doing this. Store what you eat and eat what you store! Thanks for the video I know it will help so many😊
I am excited for this to be one of the things that I freeze dry when I start freeze drying. I think the pumpkin would taste better being rehydrated instead of canning it or freezing in the freezer. Thanks for showing us how to do this. !!
Great video. You are so creative with the scraps. What a great treat for the fur babies. I want to try your way of roasting the seeds. My favorite...everything pumpkin! Thanks 😊
First thing I did with my new FD was empty my freezer of the cooked pumpkin from last year! Thanks for the reminder as I have a root cellar full from fall.
Awe, the pups enjoy the freeze dryer too! Also the convenience of not fighting the crowd in Autumn for pumpkin anything. Those cheesecake bites look so good!
This was so interesting. I really liked that you put the pumpkin seeds in hot water before baking and said they were so much better. I will have to try this. Thank you for sharing.
My hubby and I are doing a "The Provident Prepper" video-watching marathon. We have learned so much from you. It's cool how we discuss ideas and try new prepping methods after watching your videos. We're new to prepping, so there is much to discuss and try! I'm not a pumpkin person, but my hubby is, so I see more pumpkin in my future. (I might actually like the cheesecake bites.) It looks like our dogs are going to get some pumpkin, too. Thanks for the endless tips.
Oh dear ... a marathon ... you really need to find something more interesting that us old folks! I'm glad that it stimulates ideas for you. The pumpkin cheesecake bites are awesome!
I love all your videos. Thank you for sharing all the knowledge about food preservation. I wish I had a freeze drier. For now, I am dehydrating some food.
I, too, am not a fan of pumpkin except for pumpkin cheesecake. Anything cheesecake, right? But I had decorative pumpkins that I gave to my chickens after Thanksgiving a year ago. We also ended up with beautiful volunteer vines and more pumpkins. Pumpkins for the chickens, goats, sheep and dogs. I will try freeze drying next year!

Oh thank you!
I did the same thing with my pumpkins. Now I have 2 quarts of pumpkin powder for upcoming pumpkin soup dinners.
The cheesecake bites sound AMAZING! I love anything pumpkin, but cheesecake is the best!
What a great use of pumpkin! Especially for the dogs. Dogs love frozen pumpkin and its sooo good for them.
My favorite pumpkin food is pumpkin bread with raisins. My kids love it without the raisins. I clean out the pumpkin and bake it, then puree the pulp and freeze it, 1 cup to a bag and use it all year long. I don't have a freeze dryer. ❤️👍🇺🇲
That's a great solution! I was actually going to mention that and then I forgot. You can freeze most of this stuff too!
