Freeze Dried February Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PL7ewjaDxEe5bNdEovTMSXEwd0kHnwNLsd.html -Harvest Right Freeze Dryers: affiliates.harvestright.com/2171.html Thanks SO much to The Inquisitive Farmwife and the Collaboration Sponsors for putting together such a great resource!
How timely for me! I just, an hour ago, put bone broth on trays to pre freeze and will freeze dry tomorrow. We got our freeze dryer about the same time you got yours. So much fun!
You are so right about saving lots of space when you freeze dry liquid. Your broth looked amazing, and I love how you explained how it tasted freeze dried verses reconstituted. I think I could get use to "Meat Cotton Candy" lol 🤣😄 As always you put out another great video. Thanks for being part of the Freeze Dried February!!
I'm learning so much about "how" the freeze dryer works from you and the other participants in this collaboration. Thanks for showing how to freeze dry broth. I would have thought the only was to preserve it was canning!
This year's collaboration has me really wanting a freeze dryer. They didn't tempt me before but I'm beginning to understand all the pros of having one. thank you.
I have been waiting for your freeze dried February! I love your channel. I haven't seen anyone freeze dry broth. I have so so much. That is a great Idea to reduce space. I hope to get my freeze dryer soon. Tyfs!
Thank you for sharing this information about freeze drying broth. I have never thought about doing this before but I am definitely going to now. Thank you so much.
Oh I just happened onto this video and I’m excited about a collaboration for freeze drying! I’ve had a freeze dryer for a couple of years and would like to use it more often than I do now.
This is one of the most awesome ways to use a freeze dryer, in my opinion. Broth takes up enormous space in liquid form either canned or frozen, so a freeze-dried powder would be a great way to free up space for more food on the shelf or in the freezer. Win-Win! The biggest drawback seems to be the length of time it takes to actually freeze dry, but I imagine if a broth was simmered longer (or less water was added when making it) the time could be potentially reduced, though I have no idea how much. Homemade bouillion? Yes, please!
Genius with the sauce maker funnel and fermentation tool to crunch! Use what you have! Homemade broth is amazing to have on hand! Thanks for participating in #freezedriedfebruary and sharing with us!
This video reminded me of a science experiment. Very informative. Thank you so much for showing how practical this process is. Thank you for your video.
That's a great way to store broth. I'd love to have bullion cubes again when I don't need extra liquid, but do need flavor. So cool to see that is a doable thing!
Yes! I need to make that for the same purpose. Until I can get a freeze dryer that's another way to have bullion on hand without all the silly ingredients. Freeze dryer is just much more simple 😅
I often wonder why I do not see people pre freezing liquids in ice cube trays for the freeze dryer. In my mind it sounds easy but is a ice cube too tall for the trays or just not interested in adding a extra step. Thanks for showing, really is a surprise how it holds its shape until crushed after dried.
Oh my goodness that looked so good and such a great thing to make so so many uses...Enjoy finding more things that you can use your bone broth....Thank you for sharing your talent
I am curious about the collagen. Wonder if it would get gelatinous, after reconstituting & refrigerating. Itching to get ours back into service since moving. Moved to a house with no pantry & less than half the space, of our previous house. Need to find/make some 'pantry' space....lol Thank you for sharing, Heather.
When rehydrated the foods return to their previously frozen state. I have not tested this out but my assumption is the collagen would remain intact and just as gelatinous!
I love the idea of freeze-drying bone broth. I usually can my bone broth, but freeze-drying it would save me so much shelf space! Thank you for being a part of this collaboration!
Big shout out to all involved in the Freeze Drying February - Thank You! Bone broth, yes! I have been curious about how to freeze dry bone broth. Your video was informative and helpful.
OH MY GOODNESS! Such an amazing idea! I love it. My canned bone broth consumes so many jars and so much shelf space. I soooo need a freeze dryer! Have a dehydrator, which is running right now drying hash browns. Thank you for this wonderful video. Isn't it great when you have a handy hubby to make a separate space to do what you need to do? I have one of those too! It'll be 50 years for us this April. Thank you and Angela for this collaboration. Thank you to all of the sponsors and their generosity.
Such a great use of a home freeze dryer! Liquid broth takes up so much space - freeze dried, you get the space savings and so many uses for it in powder form. Thank you for such a great demo.
I really enjoyed watching your video and learning the process to FD bone broth. It was such a fantastic video that I called my husband over to show him the frozen inside of the FD machine and he stayed to watch til the end. Very much appreciated.
You had me at "Meat Cotton Candy" hahaha! Really loved seeing the process and the tips about using the freeze dryer for broth. Not only did you reduce the volume, but the weight of the one jar of the freeze dried broth appears to be less than the weight of one jar of broth. Easier to carry and store on shelving, etc. Love that the broth will be adaptable and customizable in strength depending on how you want to use it. Whereas the liquid broth doesn't have that advantage without additional work (simmering, etc). 💚
So amazing the technology we have these days to preserve food! I would love for my grandmother to have seen one of these in action. Thanks so much for sharing!! Stay safe!!🙏❤
Meat cotton candy is hilarious. I’m a flight attendant and am gone on 4 day trips. Freeze drying foods would be great to pack with as I can reconstitute them with hot water on the aircraft. Quite the space saver.
Another great idea from this collaboration. Everyone speaks about extending the longevity of the food with freeze drying but not a lot about space saving. Thanks so much for sharing.
Space saving is not always a thing when freeze drying since many things keep the same shape once dried. Liquids definitely take up less space though, makes sense!
How nice to have a building for your freeze dryer and other big items, cuts out the overcrowded kitchen. Thanks for the video, I need to that with broth and clear some off my shelves. Thanks for your video.
I freeze dry not just bone broth, but just simple broth to make my own bouillon. I add it to soups, gravys, sauces, etc. It's so nice to have on-hand especially when you're feeling under the weather! Great video!
Freeze drying meat broths is one of the things I would like to do. I have a lot of broth taking up space in my freezer. Being able to control the strength of the broth would be great.
I love the idea of freeze drying broth! Especially when sick and you want some to sip on and don’t want to open a huge jar. You can just take out when you want it plus it will be great for flavoring dishes.
Totally off topic Heather, sorry. I just wanted to tell you I had to struggle to get half a rabbit in a qt jar. I went back and watched your rabbit raw pack w/bones video. You could get a whole rabbit minus the ribs in a qt jar. I wondered what age you harvest at? Last time I did 12 wks. This time I did 10 wks. Maybe I should try 8 wks? These grow outs are huge. I weighed them and they are 3.75 to 4 lbs dressed out. I have no idea how we are gonna get all these ate. I guess I need to sell some. Maybe I need to go down to a breeding pair rather than the trio I have now. ❤❤❤
That video has non-meat breeds in it and maybe 1 or 2 meat rabbits if I remember? But those are 12 to 16 week old "pretty bunnies" If I can fit a whole one in a jar. Half a rabbit is about right for Californians at 10ish weeks! Ours are usually 3lbs dressed when we take them to 12 weeks. You are doing excellently!! Bravo!!
I make a LOT of bone broth and I can it. Having a powdered version will cut down on space and allow me to have it at work for my morning drink instead of coffee. And avoid the food industry chemicals! thank you!
Oh Wow, how exciting. Thank you Heather for such an educational and informative video. My hope is to own a freezedryer one day. I can only imagine how wonderful your bone broth tastes especially knowing everything it was from your homestead. God Bless
I always have to can my bone broth because I don't have enough space to store it in the freezer or fridge. This is a great idea to save tons of space and, hopefully, maintain the goodies in the bone broth that's lost in the canning process. Thank you!
This was fantastic. I make lots of bone broth and pressure can it, so it takes up quite a bit of shelf space while using lots of jars. Although I haven't yet purchased a freeze dryer, your video gave me great insight for when we are able to purchase one. Thank you for participating in this collaboration!
I am so glad to see this video! I put store bought broth in my freeze dryer and it left a very thin layer of powder that had to be scraped off the tray. This looks SO much better! Now I'm not worried to try my homemade bone broth.
Thank you for the video! This is my favorite thing to freeze dry! We’ve done beef, chicken, and turkey - salted and unsalted. No more waste because the fridge or freezer is too full! I love that it is almost like foam when it is done and your comparison to cotton candy is a great way to explain it! I also love that this method of storage retains so much nutrition. Thank you for sharing and encouraging everyone to try this!
I keep going back and forth about a freeze dryer. I just did the same project but with my dehydraters. I love the ability to use the broth in a powdered form. We are using it much more often.

After watching this video I know I really want a freeze dryer. This was a very thorough and informative video.
Thank you!
Just purchased Freeze Dryer last week & this is on my project list because bullion is too salty for our low sodium diet. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!! I wish everyone got to taste meat cotton candy!@
Hi Heather. How's your mushroom adventure going?
Have a great day.
Going GREAT! Harvested some Enoki mushrooms last week and have some chestnut mushrooms to harvest soon!
I'm learning so much about "how" the freeze dryer works from you and the other participants in this collaboration. Thanks for showing how to freeze dry broth. I would have thought the only was to preserve it was canning!
You can freeze it too but The freeze dryer is the best way to save space in my opinion!
I love that you called it Meat Cotton Candy! It made me giggle!
It was the closest thing I could come up with for texture haha
A great way to store a lot of bone broth when space is limited!! Canning it would’ve taken up more space as well. Thank you for sharing.
Amazing way to use the freeze dryer. Now we can use from a little to a lot of bone broth powder. Healthy drinks on the go. Thanks.
This year's collaboration has me really wanting a freeze dryer. They didn't tempt me before but I'm beginning to understand all the pros of having one. thank you.
This is such a great space saver! I bet it tastes wonderful Thank you!
So good!!
Yes! My freezer is full of broth. Freeze drying would save SO much space!
Best way to preserve bone broth. I have yet to do it though, lol.
I have SO MANY chicken bouillon jars, this is super. Thank you.
I love watching how you use your freeze dryer. It's on our list for next year to add to the homestead ❤
❤❤❤

yes reducing could be done on the front end before adding to the freeze dryer! Good idea!
Yes what a great way to save space on broth!!! Love it!
Thank you for going through the process with us. I've gone from freezing broth to canning broth and now I'm looking forward to freeze drying it!
Thank you sharing the stages of making freeze dried bone broth. I’m a beginner 😊 I hope you have a blessed day!
Thank you! You too!
IMHO, freeze drying all liquids, especially broth, is the #1 benefit of my Harvest Right. Coincidentally I bought mine the same time as you.
Genius with the sauce maker funnel and fermentation tool to crunch! Use what you have! Homemade broth is amazing to have on hand! Thanks for participating in #freezedriedfebruary and sharing with us!
Thanks for having me!! This has been really fun!
This video reminded me of a science experiment. Very informative. Thank you so much for showing how practical this process is. Thank you for your video.
I’ve done broth and was very happy with the results. I don’t salt my broth so that was a surprise when I tasted it. Lol
Right?!
❤
Thank for participating broth is so yummy an powdered is so handy
That's a great way to store broth. I'd love to have bullion cubes again when I don't need extra liquid, but do need flavor. So cool to see that is a doable thing!
Yes it reminds me of "pocket soup"!
But obviously modernized lol
Yes! I need to make that for the same purpose. Until I can get a freeze dryer that's another way to have bullion on hand without all the silly ingredients. Freeze dryer is just much more simple 😅
Oh Heather, I loved this video!! Wow does it ever condense the product. Have a great day!
Thanks for sharing your freeze drying journey with us
Morning Beautiful Lady.
Wonderful ideas. Hope your day is a blessed one. 🙏🙏🙏
I am looking forward to freeze drying my bone broth and saving space in my pantry. Thank you for sharing.
Loving this collaboration 😍 I've done pork broth that way, it's so good
I often wonder why I do not see people pre freezing liquids in ice cube trays for the freeze dryer. In my mind it sounds easy but is a ice cube too tall for the trays or just not interested in adding a extra step. Thanks for showing, really is a surprise how it holds its shape until crushed after dried.
They make little inserts for the trays that make cubes! My issue is usually the items are too delicate to hold that shape well.
I meant regular ice cube trays just in the freezer for pre freezing@@SageandStoneHomestead
Oh!! You could totally use the freeze dryer as an ice cube maker! Just don't let it dry or your ice will be on the side of the machine haha
I absolutely love the crunching sound when you crushed the freeze dried broth. Thank you for posting and sharing the information.
Great way to save that precious bone broth. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my goodness that looked so good and such a great thing to make so so many uses...Enjoy finding more things that you can use your bone broth....Thank you for sharing your talent

Thank you for the practical tips. What size is your freeze dryer? Large?
Yes this is the large with 5 trays.
@@SageandStoneHomestead thank you
Great video as always. Valuable information for sure. Thank you for sharing. Love and Blessings to you all. ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏 Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
Thanks for always being here, Doris! ❤️❤️
jusst freeze dried bone broth have more to go in soon
I love the idea of freeze-drying bone broth. I usually can my bone broth, but freeze-drying it would save me so much shelf space! Thank you for being a part of this collaboration!
Big shout out to all involved in the Freeze Drying February - Thank You! Bone broth, yes! I have been curious about how to freeze dry bone broth. Your video was informative and helpful.
This is a great way to store bone broth! It’s so healthy for people and the dogs love it when we add it to their food.

Yes it's so great to have someone with carpentry skills around!🤩❤️❤️
Your bone broth is beautiful!! Thanks for sharing!!
I have so much space being used in the freezer and jars with bone broth. This would save valuable space. Thanks for sharing this process.
Such a great use of a home freeze dryer! Liquid broth takes up so much space - freeze dried, you get the space savings and so many uses for it in powder form. Thank you for such a great demo.
Having freeze-dried bone broth ready to go during illness is a fantastic idea! Thank you so much for sharing! :)
I really enjoyed watching your video and learning the process to FD bone broth. It was such a fantastic video that I called my husband over to show him the frozen inside of the FD machine and he stayed to watch til the end. Very much appreciated.
I love that! Thanks so much! ❤️
I LOVE freeze drying my broth! Yes saves so much room and weight!
You had me at "Meat Cotton Candy" hahaha! Really loved seeing the process and the tips about using the freeze dryer for broth. Whereas the liquid broth doesn't have that advantage without additional work (simmering, etc). 💚
Yes good point on it being lighter per the volume it takes up! Totally true!
Great way to save all that delicious broth and a great way to not take up so many jars
What a wonderful quick idea for when someone is not feeling well or a quick lunch!
So amazing the technology we have these days to preserve food! I would love for my grandmother to have seen one of these in action. Thanks so much for sharing!! Stay safe!!🙏❤
Freeze dry February is I’ve but I can’t stop watching the videos. This is the second time I have watched this video, lol Thank you!
How handy powdered broth would be. WOW.
It's good to see the freeze dryer used for a wide variety of foods. Thanks!
You bet!
Meat cotton candy is hilarious. I’m a flight attendant and am gone on 4 day trips. Freeze drying foods would be great to pack with as I can reconstitute them with hot water on the aircraft. Quite the space saver.
This is so great. No more buying bouillon!
I love how you can choose how much nutrition you put into your soup!
Another great idea from this collaboration. Everyone speaks about extending the longevity of the food with freeze drying but not a lot about space saving. Thanks so much for sharing.

Great space saver and you don't have to wait for the broth to defrost before you can use it.

So enjoyed your video! Loved going with you they this freeze dried journey. (I don’t do math well either😜) thanks for participating in this collab!
It's so fun to watch y'all use your freeze dryers. I never thought I wanted one, but I'm slowly changing my mind!
Wow love how you can make it as strong as you want it.
Super Interesting. To be able to freeze dry liquids is important in helping us make good use of our space. Thanks so much!
Freeze drying bone broth! That’s just amazing, thank you for your video, I’m learning so much!
This is totally AWESOME! Wish I had a freeze dryer just to make this!!! Thank you so much for sharing! ♥️
You are right, freezer space is always at a premium. As soon as I can start freeze drying. bone broth is on the list. Thank you!
Totally off topic Heather, sorry. I just wanted to tell you I had to struggle to get half a rabbit in a qt jar. I went back and watched your rabbit raw pack w/bones video. Freeze drying bone broth-such a great idea! Meat cotton candy made me laugh! 🤣🤣
Level space is definitely challenging after meat season. My half cow takes up my whole upright freezer
I love this about freeze-drying your bone broth. That would make so much more space for me. I am excited to start!
I definitely didn't expect so much to be left behind after freeze drying!
It always surprises me but it shows all the goodness that's truly in the broth!
I've freeze dried my quail bone broth. I love it! I need to process some more quail so I can make more broth for the freeze dryer.
Oh Wow, how exciting. Thank you Heather for such an educational and informative video. My hope is to own a freezedryer one day. I can only imagine how wonderful your bone broth tastes especially knowing everything it was from your homestead. God Bless

Thank you for this video/ collaboration. Having bone broth on hand and ready is a great idea ❤️

This is amazing how much shelf space can be saved thank you for the video
I’m new to this preservation method. I appreciate you explaining the freeze drying cycle and giving practical tips.
Thanks for the video, it is fun seeing fd through the eyes of someone new. Thanks again,
Awesome space saver!
FD your bone broth is a great idea and such a space saver. Nice job!
This would save me so much space! What an great idea.
This playlist has been wonderful !

Great video on how to use the freeze drier, and how freeze-drying things help to save on storage space.
I just started making my own bone broth and have been freezing it. It would be great to have space freed up to store other items.😊 Thanks for sharing
I keep going back and forth about a freeze dryer. I just did the same project but with my dehydraters. I love the ability to use the broth in a powdered form. We are using it much more often.
