I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure he left over political reasons. They’ve had a lot of member changes and usually those reasons are kept pretty quiet
I know for a fact it was a special project for him. His brother was also involved a bit. This record is a Norma Jean time capsule, there's just something brooding and heavier to it that sets it apart from the rest of their work. They kind of fell apart across multiple members when it was completed, like it was supposed to be a one and done moment or something. I wish Phillip Farris had stuck around, the dude's guitar parts are killer. I always come back to it more than All Hail or Deathrattle.
it's weird to me how my favorite bands feel like closer than my closest friends. When i connect with music, there's a depth of connection that's hard to get otherwise. I feel like Corey is one of my best friends even though he doesn't know me.
I LOVE when bands make documentaries like this! I've watched this twice now and it is amazing and really showcases the hard work behind all this. What a record man, I love it more every time I listen to it. Best part of this is when all the guys are sitting around headbanging to Reaction haha

It started with Wrongdoers for me, but also with Polar Similar, these albums have quite literally inspired me. I'm a bass player and there was a time i was getting bored, and from the very first time I heard Wrongdoers, there was a birthing in me of a desire to play and try new things, new ways to play. The riff by the pool at 28:13 is so sick. Idk what song it's in cuz I haven't listened to the record all the way through. But if it's in a song I'd like to know which one. Cuz it's so haunting sounding. Plus I wanna learn how to play it

Album after album you guys turn out incredible music, which is so tricky. Things change, people change, and in your case members change. I had no idea to what extent when I first started listening, but I guess even with all the same members you may change just as much. Your viewpoint is so refreshing too, that you're just a steward of the name, creating music that will survive you. So maybe one day you'll turn out an album I don't like, but it'll be right. I feel fortunate that your sound hasn't just resonated with me, but has moved me forward, and seeing how passionate you are about it inspires me to create for me, regardless of how much I change.
Fantastic film. Amazing job at bringing out the spirit and the darkness of the album - The focus on the personalities of the band and the location is brilliant. Thank you for Polar Similar - it is a masterpiece!!
