Mental Health Hero Award - Danielle Hudson

Every child needs a hero. Each year, we honor educators & counselors who have been a hero in championing the mental health & well-being needs of their students. This year, we are delighted to honor Danielle Hudson with the 2021 Mental Health Hero Award.
Danielle is the Executive Administrator for Student Services for the Beaverton School District. It is her responsibility to ensure the vitality of the district’s academic program is accessible for all students including multilingual students and students experiencing academic, physical, behavioral, and/or mental disabilities. In this role, she oversee the district's Behavioral Health and Wellness program which includes counseling, social work, social-emotional learning, Section 504, and health services. During her tenure, BSD has implemented Behavioral Health and Wellness teams in every school developed a social work program that included the hiring of over 40 social workers, the hiring of more counselors, nurses, health assistants, and social-emotional learning coaches. Additionally, for the first time ever, the Beaverton School District is engaging in the curriculum adoption process for Behavioral Health and Wellness assessment, curriculum, and instruction.
