GBO2 Byarlant Custom (Post-Buff): The best 600-650 cost raid!

- This video contains two matches I had with the buffed Byarlant Custom on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 600-700 cost raid with insane mobility, flight ability, great melee damage, high DPS/accumulation rapid fire arm beams, a heavy attack which can be used for risk free take offs and a claw downswing with great range and speed. Its main two weaknesses would be that it is very large and has poor melee resist. This suit was buffed back at the end of December in 2023. It got +2000 HP, more melee resist, extra , LV3 Maneuver Armor, +75m range for the double beam guns, 2 seconds cooldown for the beam saber, 165%x2 heavy attack modifier and 5 seconds cooldown for the claw. These buffs are really massive, the Byarlant Custom previously was struggling against monster suits like the Atlas Gundam and MP ZZ Gundam, but now it has the strength required to excel again at 600-650 cost. Its primary ranged weapon is a mega particle cannon with 2257 power, 3.5 seconds cooldown, 80% heat, 13 seconds overheat, 0.5 seconds swap time, 455m range and 20% stagger value. This is nothing special but it will be your primary stunning tool. The 13 seconds overheat time means that it can sometimes be practical to fire it before it finishes cooling when you need another stun, or if you need to get max damage in a combo while the claw is cooling.
Its primary melee weapon is a beam saber with 2730 power, 2 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time, 1.5 seconds focus time, 100/80/64% combo modifier and 165%x2 heavy modifier. The standard swings will do high damage because of the good combo modifier, the heavy attack also has high power. It is awkward to land both hits of the heavy but the animation itself launches you forward where you are aiming. You can use it to cancel the flight start up animation to instantly take off into the air, for general midair mobility or to knock down other flying/transforming MS.
Its first sub weapon is a mega particle cannon on both arms with 262 power, 4% heat, 450 RPM, 15 seconds overheat, 0.5 seconds swap time, 275m range, 1965 DPS and 8% stagger value. Although you cannot boost fire these like vulcans, they stagger quickly and do amazing damage. They are great for breaking MA or shooting down other flying suits as well. It can nuke supports as well but needless to say you are an easy target if you use it carelessly.
Its second sub weapon is a claw arm with 3150 power, 5 seconds cooldown, 0.5 seconds swap time, 100% side swing modifier and 200% downswing modifier. This is easy to use to confirm a knockdown after a stun in a hurry or for big damage in triple downswing combos. It also heavy staggers on neutral/side swings.
The LV2 Byarlant Custom has 23000 HP with 35 ballistic/beam defence and 18 melee defence. This leaves it as very squishy in melee which means that you will often be destroyed in one combo if you are shot down by melee focused generals. It has both LV3 Maneuver Armor and Emergency Evasion for defensive skills.
It has 140 walking speed, 235 boosting speed, 85 thrust and 84 turning speed. This makes you the single fastest suit at 600-650 cost and means you can easily out maneuver other suits, especially while flying. It has LV2 Forced Injector and LV3 Flight Control for basic mobility skills.
Its major stand out skill is the LV3 Flight System. This is activated via the touchpad and makes the MS begin flying with the same mechanics as in space. Thrust is constantly consumed like this. Unlike earlier levels of flight system, you do not share the same weakness to build stagger. This is the most important skill on the entire suit and what makes it so powerful in the first place. You should rarely be engaging in combat without having this on at all. You also need to carefully manage your thrusters to make sure that you do not run out in an unsafe area. It also buffs hover/boosting speed by +5.
Overall I think that the Byarlant Custom is without a doubt the best raid for 600 and 650 cost, though you need to have a lot of game knowledge+experience to use it effectively, as well as playing it on maps where flight is effective. It really speaks of the powercreep that GBO2 goes through that an originally game breaking suit like Byarlant Custom needs buffs to keep up with the modern meta. The weaknesses that once served to balance it began to serve as shackles, so it was justified in that respect. It is a really fun raid with one of the most unique playstyles in the game, so I can highly recommend it. Thanks for watching!

Byarlant custom pilots are either the most cracked out aces or Jerid Messa in terms of skill. There is no in-between
That or the enemy team has someonr running a mobile suit with strong (what I would call heavy) stagger. Cuz I try to make sure I don't make mistakes, but the moment those enemies with strong stagger see you, they tend to hunt ya down to even risking their current life to make one's life miserable.

I don't think there's a single suit in this game that can draw immediate and constant aggro from the entire enemy team, from the moment it's first seen, quite like the Byarlant Custom

I was hoping to never see this thing buffed. This thing and Bound-Doc are my worst nightmares as a support.

I like that one of the matches was a clan match. They're really challenging since the enemy is a full team too, but when you win you can really see the suit as you described in action. I bet it was fun. I would like to see more clan matches even if it's not highlighting any particular suit.
yeah the recent 650 CMs were very fun. it was also fun/beneficial practicing against Avenger's Byarlant. Dijeh Traversia can one combo it in the right circumstances

Thank god for these buffs. Would've liked to see a buffer upgraded here and there but this is really nice, that +75 range on the mega particle cannons was really nice to see. B. Custom is such a fun suit to use and I stopped played just cause threats like Asshimars and Atlas' got to run around and just harass me if I wasn't constantly using insane aerial movement or hiding behind buildings.
I wonder if we ever get unit 02 in the game we already have the normal byarlant and we already have both unit 1 and Isolde so when will we get it

One of the most fun suits ive played even if im still not well versed with it. I must keep learn it and have a back up for my S Gundam.
Edit: Also love how its heavy attack is such a great mobility tool even without boosting out of it due to its really fast recovery.

Id say the S Gundam has that going for it more than the B. Custom. Its easy to use, but its also incredibly easy to fuck up with due to its sheer size.
If you have to compare Byarlant Custom and Baund Doc, what would you say ?
I think that Byarlant Custom wins overall. It recovers thrusters faster, has more straight forward melee combos, is faster, has better melee reach, heavy attack, better midrange DPS.
I think that Baund Doc wins in terms of overall melee damage and having a boost fire stun, but it doesn't make up for what the BC gets.

This suit is so damn ignorant man I can't stand it. Its such a pest to deal with. You played it well, but even people who play it poorly can get away with a lot of BS using it. Atlas' disable doesn't do much when the suit is cracked out of its mind with skills like MA3 and 2 melee weapons.
