I have been running lots of miles, doing hard workouts and getting after it as best as I can. 3 weeks ago I ran a 5k and I am trying to get into shape to run WAY faster at my next race. I lift 2x per week. Leg day and then a full body day. Strength training is KEY for injury prevention 🙏🏼

Can you do a video on running technique? (Short strides vs long strides, etc)
Also if anyone performs not the greatest during a race, just think it as a tough workout and mental training.

I have a q for next time. Tips on going from 1 workout a week to 2. And is there a weekly mileage req for the 2nd workout to be effective to keep to the 80/20 percent rule?
I know you probably wont answer this but i am a 7th grader and i ran my first xc season and i am starting track my 2 mile pr in xc was 12:18. I want to be able to get sub 11:20-11:00 so i was wondering how should i start training after my track season. By the way your my favorite running channel.
The biggest thing is staying consistent. Not missing your runs and keeping your mileage up will go a long way especially since you are so young. If you keep at it you’ll go a long way in the sport. Building that aerobic reservoir is key for you which will take some time but you got it!!

should I be doing specific lifts for running or just do a traditional lift schedule where I'm doing legs one day and arms another
Doing any type of lifting is beneficial to running. Studies have yet to find one method over the other better for running. I’d just recommend not neglecting core, hip and glute stuff

How much should I decrease my mileage for the track season. In running the 1600m and during conditioning we ran 40 miles per week+. Should
I lower my mileage during the season? Ex: higher intensity less volume.?
I would honestly keep it the same! Since you got used to just doing 40miles during conditioning adding in some intensity should bring some fitness gains.

How long should I do a build phase and then how long before my race should I start speed workouts?
Depends on somethings. Typically I like to spend at least 3-4 weeks building up to mileage and then will add workouts in when I’ve been up to full mileage for at a week or so. Depending on the event and how your season is structured you can start workouts as little as 2-3 weeks before your first race, but if you want to be very prepared you’ll probably need more time.
