    This is how I do it. It isn't always pretty and as you can see in this video I sometimes struggle to accurately show other aspects of my life. This schedule keeps me busy and can be a lot to manage at times but tbh I kind of like it like this. I have the energy to do it so I'll keep it on doing it as long as I do.

    Really appreciate the content, just wanted to say (sorry!) that just because its *possible* doesn't mean its optimal or even *plausible*. Maybe it's a 5% with everything on your plate, but could be a 20%+ if you focus more on recovery.
    Look at the Norwegian triathletes, Iden and Blummenfeldt, unbeatable at any distance - they are open about sleep and recovery being one of the most important components. Plenty of vlogs featuring them relaxing on the couch eating chocolates, laughing at competition going for massages rather than just staying horizontal.

    • @AdamWoodRuns
      @AdamWoodRuns  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes but you have to do it carefully. Changing form can sometimes cause more injuries. My best advice is have someone who knows there stuff watch you run and give you advice. When you change your form different muscles are worked and different stresses are placed on the body so be smart about it

    How much more difficult is it to do a fast 5k after marathon training? Also, how long does it take to go back to being able to run a fast 5k from running a marathon?

    • @AdamWoodRuns
      @AdamWoodRuns  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s definitely harder. Back when I was in college I could do 5k training all day and it was the really long sessions that I’d have trouble with. Now it seems to have switched. Unsure how long (hopefully not too long) but I can already feel it coming back. For my future marathon builds I’ll be doing 5k stuff fairly regularly so it’s not a huge process anytime I wanna do something shorter and faster

    what's your opinion on treadmill workouts? i'm in highschool and during the winter i can only run on the tread cuz its so snowy and i've become sort of infamous for some crazy treadmill workouts. keeps me motivated to do it cuz i know my rivals are out there doing something, and i hate the thought of somebody working harder than me. i also watn to win 4 golds at state in the 16, 32, medley, and 4x8. u and your wife are crazy good athletes btw:)

    • @AdamWoodRuns
      @AdamWoodRuns  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! Just put the incline up to 1% and it’s basically the same. People can be so anti treadmill but often times you can get a much better workout there than outside battling the elements. Good luck 🙏🏼

    Honestly, let me ask you a question and I hope you don't think I'm trolling, but what exactly did you major in college? How can you be having a hard time? Also you're mormon living in mormonland, how can you not have a huge social network to plug you into a cake job somewhere? I think you ticked off BYU when you told them you were not LDS even though you were raised that way. Why the heck did you do that by the way? I guess it's hard to see how that kinda stuff matters when you're young, but people judge you and it never hurts to kiss a$$. I wouldn't doubt it if they have a little black list. I'm serious. That's why they're not helping you out. If you just would have sucked it up and kissed butt, you'd make all kind of connections and probably have a cake job somewhere that at least wasn't very challenging so you could focus on training at least, and not worry about bills. I mean used to have a night shift job just doing network analyst stuff where I didn't have to do maybe 2 hours of real work per shift no lie. That gave me plenty of time for personal studies and programing personal projects. You need a job like that. How are you stuck working 2 crummy jobs if you have a college degree?

  • @andrealyons4718
    @andrealyons4718 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    For whatever it is worth, you are not 'lucky" for having the lifestyle that you have. You have the lifestyle that you have through a series of choices. You, and your wife, chose each other because of your similar lifestyles and commitments. You have a lifestyle free of parenting responsibilities because you have chosen to not have children at this time. You are training hard because you both have made the commitment to train hard. This is not luck, and anyone who is telling you this is only attempting to gaslight you into believing that you are somehow not worthy of your lifestyle choices, and the outcomes of those choices. That is absolute rubbish. To this day, as a middle-aged woman, I still have people who try to tell me that I am lucky for surviving the foster care system, lucky for being highly educated despite my past as a foster child, lucky to have raised a successful son as a single mother, and lucky to still be well conditioned and fit in spite of the odds. I refuse to listen to that garbage anymore and choose to enjoy the outcomes of my choices. I hope you and your wife are doing that as well! Keep maximizing on your opportunities as you deserve nothing less! Looking forward to watching you and your wife achieve pro status in the future!
