In this free drum lesson, I want to teach you the song "Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith featuring Joey Kramer on drums.
This song features some great solid drumming from Joey. We have a basic verse groove and then we have a rather syncopated bridge groove that really plays around with the bass drum.
Then we have the outro drum beat involving more syncopated bass drum and double handed hi-hat action. Throughout the whole song Joey finds places to include some really tasty drum fills as well.

This is a good one Rob people from their 20’s through their late 60’s have had lots of exposure to ‘this song and most people would know the song from listening to the first 20 or 30 seconds.

Thanks for this Robert! Our band covers this song and I have been faking the bridge and the outro for 2 years, with your breakdown, I can practice and enrich the groove, and grow as a drummer. I have a hard time understanding some of the talented drummers giving lessons online, but your explanations and examples are really easy to follow. I really like the way you research the groove and add those details to your lesson.

Thanks very much. I have a question about the notation, on the second beat with snare and high hat playing together but it looks like you are playing right hand snare left right left?
