    That’s crazy. A two brick pier is bad enough against two doorways but an expansion joint in between, won’t be long before all the joints start cracking with doors being closed

      What's worse is the the trays over the 2 lintels. The firesock has to be continuous, the trays won't go past the the ends of the lintels, therefore it doesn't work and is a massive design flaw. Had this before where I had an argument with NHBC about it. If you put the tray through continuous, it's an item, if you don't and the tray doesn't go past the end of the lintel it's an item.
      I said what the fk am I supposed to do then. He said the firesock is more critical, do that.
      This was on a Barratts site in Liverpool. Complete bollocks.
      Even more so when trays aren't necessary over lintels, it's the manufacturers won't guarantee the lintel for 25 yrs unless it has a tray and NHBC wankers jump on the tray band wagon.

      Still think that's the best way, the mortar groove around a wooden window holds it solid, no gaps and piles of silicone either. Quick and easy,

Great tips and tricks for the up and coming Brickies of the future. Just on small point your white expansion foam is the wrong way round. That joint is asking for trouble. It reminds us of short returns; they invariably crack. Two heavy doors slamming shut periodically; asking for trouble. Can see claims going in one after the other here.
    The expansion foam rip strip should be to the front.

  • @willbee6785
    @willbee6785 ปีที่แล้ว

    On these stand-alone door formers, just cut to size 2 pieces to make the formers parallel and battery drill screw them to the middle and top. Remove these pieces when the mortar is going off or set.
