The chasm OST have special music transition when you in or out of combat. The background music dosen't stop when you are in combat but instead they add their own battle music version by a transition. Just like how you noticed at 1:20:40 Inevitable Conflict similar with Stories of Remote Antiquity. When you are out of combat, the battle music slowly fade and become the overworld ost again. I found it really cool !
Yes. It's the same thing that Fire Emblem's been doing at least since Awakening (haven't played any game in that series before that one). It's honestly such a fun way to transition into battle segments. In addition, Octopath Traveler has something somewhat similar, though not the exact same thing, with boss fights and transitioning into Decisive Battle. That seamless transition between the character motifs and the boss theme is just so juicy. I wish more games would consider doing this, though I get that it isn't a suitable music direction for all games, and it probably takes a greater deal of work getting them to transition so smoothly.
im honestly surprised on how Genshin is still not being nominated in best music category in The Game Awards. Yu-Peng Chen and HoyoMix does really good music
That is kinda because of the structure of the game and general consensus of gacha = bad. Gacha games generally have a lot of different regions, massive lore and a very long OST collection and Genshin is one of them so for some stupid reason people avoid them. Story based role Play, one time games tend to get more attention because the soundtracks are all one time use and it is soo closely tied with the story. But it is honesty stupid
15:01 I really like Rite of Battle because of its context within the game. This is not an intese battle theme, instead the start of the song is filled with curiosity. This is the perfect fit for the newbie area in the game. The battles there are not supposed to be intimidating or particularly dangerous, instead they go like 'wow what is this, a slime is approaching me? alright I'll give you a fight!!' This is not my favorite battle theme but I think it is a well crafted piece with a clear purpose.
Oh yeah. Hearing the starting of that soundtrack immediately brings a lot of memories of starting to explore the world. The curiousity element is soo strong with it
I like when the music escalates it's like the game telling us "Come on, don't give up! You can do it!" My all time favorite battle theme from this game.
For Combat Beneath the Waves to really hit you I think you have to stand in Enkanomiya itself, feel the atmosphere, hear the transition from the overworld theme. Enkanomiya is just such a complete experience. Regarding Enkanomiya, one tip: it doesn't unlock by itself, it's behind a world quest. You'll never find Enkanomiya unless you do world quests. To trigger the prerequisite world quest it you just have to talk to a shrine maiden in Watatsumi when you reach it, so make sure to talk to the people with a blue ! over their head near the Watatsumi shrine when you get there.
I find 2:11:38 to be such an interesting piece. Yu Peng Chen used the Fibonacci’s golden ratio for his ritme. It goes: 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21 and it keep repeating. First time I listened to this I tried tapping to the song but I couldn’t understand it until I counted the beats. It has such a special effect!
I really love how Photon Fluctuation became a leitmotif for anything in the game ever. Like, you can hear that familiar tone in the trailers they release.
@@infernoblazes2299 We were the small community that loves it, and was there because we knew he was going to react to it. XD But you can search the theme and see the low views compared to others of the same quality.
The violin solo in Inevitable Conflict alone deserves an S. I love that song. Still my favorite music in Genshin. It makes me cry from how beautiful the music is in its own.
Dragonspine is honestly A to S tier but you really have to listen to it when you’re actually experiencing while fighting in dragonspine to really have its effect especially with the threat of sheer cold
Agreed bro Dragonspine ost is still may favourite among many others, it still reminds me how much I struggled to clear Dragonspine with my underlevelled characters, Frankly i like the extra regions and their lore and exploration more than the Main map
The way Inevitable Conflict greets you is nothing short of magical, perhaps one of my favorite battle themes so far! It soars nicely paired with how the Chasm's seamless musical transition is designed and I'm excited for when you do get the chance to explore the area and listen to it there! (especially with the overworld area theme this particular track is paired with). Such a gem!
My favorite 1. Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie 2. Inevitable Conflict 3. Duel in the Mist 4. Undersea Encounters 5. Jolts of the forest not really in order all equally good
I gotta say, when I first heard Swirls of Shamshir it blew me away, especially the live concert. Really love how progressive it is and how it builds to a really epic sweeping sound by the end of it.
I always wanted you to react to these battle themes. You already listened to some of them in the concert, but especially Enkanomiya, Chasm, and Sumeru battle themes. I thought you would make a video for each of them and it would take lots of time, but seeing them in one large reaction video... This does put a smile on my face.
The Mondstadt battle music is interesting to me because while it may not be as intense as the others most regards, it fits very well because it’s the start of the journey. Nothing is dire yet and enemies aren’t mighty. Instead of the songs feeling like an intense battle/do or die situation, the music feels like it’s saying to me “Time to focus. Let’s see what you can do.” If that makes sense 😅
26:00 is my favorite battle bgm mainly because it is used in Childe’s domain story quest and you can hear the similarity between Childe’s demo theme and that battle ost
Maybe because dragonspine shares similarities with the harsh conditions of snezhanaya but i sure as hell dont want the entirety of snezhanaya to be afflicted w sheer cold
@@linglingwannabe9135 It probably will be. But it’s entirely possible we’ll get some means of traveling through Snezhanaya without being affected by Sheer Cold that much.
I feel like the first enkanomiya battle theme "Combet beneath the waves" was an experimental battle theme and ended up becoming one of his best works in the game
@@HarumNasiku that just proves that to make it different, they had to experiment with different stuff and think outside of the box in order to get that feeling of the new environment and the feel that this isn't suppose to be a part of genshin.
At first you have the "enkanomiyazed" Teyvat leitmotif, then you add the all the Enkanomiya feeling from the non battle themes, and you make it very intense with what sounds like 5-6 instruments, keeping it consistent with most of Enka's osts Doesn't reslly feel experimental to me
@@JustSomeGuyWithAMug what i mean by experimental is in terms of genshin where most of the battle themes (except boss themes) were orchestrated with traditional instruments rather than a violin solo
Most people doesn't even know it. The sumeru music is highly inspired by Indian music. Cuz both have similar instruments used. As an Indian who's after enjoying playing Instruments, i have all those Instruments since childhood ( tabla , harmona , sitar and etc..)😊
It sounds so good too !! Sumeru has incredible musics (hustles and bustles of port Ormos *cough*) As a Swiss, I hope there will be more german-austrian-swiss instruments and styles in Mondstadt, like accordion and alp horn (I have no idea how to put the latter in a battle music tho)
Yea Middle eastern too oud, saz, ney and darbuka were easily seen on the Live performances That is in case you cant tell just by listening, marco already knew by listening on first live how it was close to shehrazad music (..or however they type her name) (dunyarzad was shehrazad sister's name in there too haha)
For me, His Resolution for Mondstadt, Rapid as Wildfires for Liyue, Duel in the Mist for Inazuma, and Swirls of Shamshir for Sumeru have to be the respective themes I think of for each region The idyllic tunes of being disrupted in peaceful lounging in Mondstadt, fighting in gorgeous mountains above the clouds in Liyue, dueling in an oppressive atmosphere amongst the Kairagi in Inazuma, and combat in the desert sands of Sumeru - each of them had their effect on me absolutely My S-Tiers had to be Duel in the Mist, Swirls of Shamshir, Irresistible Force, and Undersea Encounter - they were the four tracks that made me feel the moment of the fight or wanted me to prolong the fight longer to listen to the music
yes please do the next nation’s music speculation (mainly fontaine and snezhnaya) i would love to see it so much! + maybe add in some little music speculations for the harbingers too
Just came across your compilation and rating of battle themes, awesome work, thanks! I really love GI music and especially the battle themes, so varied depending on their location. I remember drawing out battles when the His Resolution theme was played to enjoy the music longer lol, it's so intense with its driving rhythm and building up and especially the ending from 23:24 on
Those who are still confused the sumeru battle theme of desert and rainforest have same rhymes and swirls theme only wind instruments are different bansuri(Rainforest) and Ney(desert) instruments different moslty flute Rainforest - basuri(india)2:4:28 and tabla(india) is this(2:9:00) Desert - ney(middle eastern flute)1:59:32,2:44:35 Notice this 2:46:47 this swirl of streams(forest)cause its a basuri When u hear battle music variations like rhymes of vales of forest and the desert ver the flute used in forest is bansuri and desert its sax and ney(flute)
Before the Light Fades is one of my absolute favorite boss themes. Not because of how cool or atmospheric it is (which it is in droves), but because of the story it’s tied to in Sumeru. The build up leading to this final boss is insane, and because of what you’re facing and the history tied to it, it makes this one of the darkest and most intense-feeling battles of the game. Well worth the amount of effort needed to reach this point.
Echoing everyone else, Inevitable Conflict (along with the soft version "Stories of Remote Antiquity"), is my favorite track in all of Genshin. It perfectly encapsulates telling a story through music alone. Without going into spoilers, the place where these tracks play is one of the times my jaw dropped, and I was overwhelmed with emotion. You can feel the sorrow, pain, and frustration being told through the music. It foreshadows the future of Genshin better than even some of the story quests in my opinion.
The thing I always look forward to with each new region is how they can add more flavors to Photon Of Fluctuation. And Hoyo-mix never failed to amaze me.
Chasing the Torrents is what made me fall in love with this game. a fight kicked in and this song started up.. the drop at 46:55 made this fight go from your typical fight to something amazing for me and I was hooked from then on out. The world grabbed me but the combat music really made things truly epic!
My personal favorites are Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie and Irresistible force though all OSTs from HoyoMix has been nothing but bangers. Great reaction Marco 👍
Decayed in the Darkness is the idle counterpart of Seething Animosity. Listening to the former gives off the aura of an aftermath of an apocalypse, but listening to the latter feels like fighting an apocalypse; an unwinnable fight. Needless to say the transition between the two broke me when exploring The Chasm.
I love the chasm ost so much and I still think no other ost of the game can top it for me yet even if the sumeru ost is a banger. Inevitable conflict absolutely deserves an S. Wish I was there during the steam tho it was fun watching it
Marco, this video should have had more viewers than your 450k Scaramouche theme. Your musical perspective is valuable was only acquired through a profession and study. Well done. I hope you do more of these. May your channel grow to millions.
32:25 I remember just standing there in the domain and listening to this for so long ❤️ Also it's kinda sad that it was locked behind a time limited event. I mean I get the FOMO stuff but still this is just too good to be wasted like that!
Im so happy you made this Marco. I was really waiting mostly for Undersea Encounters from Enka. Ever since I wanted you to react to that track and I can tell you I was FEELING it and completely just nodded through the entire track. Thank you so much it made me really happy as it is my favourite piece from Enka and it is so darn painful it honestly brought me to tears the first time I heard it (as well as I just had ot completely let go off anything I was doing and let all the pain sink in....)
skipped straight to chasm because it's my absolute favourite, but i'll listen to the entire thing once it's done :D out of pure egoism i hope that someday you and other partly-genshin mostly-music-oriented CCs (like Alex Moukala) do a collab/tribute of some sort, because that would be magnificent. i Will Believe /j i REALLY hope they use a theremin or something similar in fontaine for some moments, it would fit fontaine's theme of progress
I like to think of the Photon of Fluctuation motif as the Teyvat theme or the Traveler’s theme. Since there is at least one battle theme per region that has the melody in it and it also appears in a few character trailer themes and version trailers
I feel like overworld battle theme and Boss battle theme have completely different purposes. Boss theme is to signify the power level of the boss and intensity of the battle, while overworld battle themes have the purpose being a cue that you are being attacked ... And it is something we hear way more often than boss theme. I think that's why overworld boss themes have this single precaution beat repeating again and again and again with simple melodies repeating with change of instrument or slight variations. And it is doing the great job of not making the song overly repetitive. Because the piece is just similar things repeating with the slight variations and since we are always only starting and ending the song at random spots whenever we engage in a fight, we are getting confused and always getting the feel that we are hearing something fresh. And the overworld battle themes also represent the nation's condition. Mondstadt one is peacefully energetic with a sense of curiousity in exploration and freedom Liyue ones feel rich. Draginspine battle theme feels like we are always going after a more and more and more intense battle... Kinda representing how the cold is always there and the more time you spent, the more intense things get. And the synth piano (ig... It's the click sound soo predominant in all draginspine sound that I'm talking about...the techno sound) ...it is adding a feel of the snowfall... Each click kinda feels like each snowflake. And when you reach Inazuma... The nature itself is intense... Dangerous and agitated. And the battle theme is exactly the same.
the boss themes also intend to tell the story of who we’re fighting/portray their emotions. signora and azhdaha’s battle themes are some great examples of that
It's interesting how mondstadt is pretty basic and calm then the Liyue music hits you about halfway through and then the Inazuma music is STRAIGHT INTO THE ACTION it's a fascinating progression of music
Thanks Marco👍! I've been playing the game more than half a year, but I haven't listened and reviewed all the battle themes fully and entirely. Holy moly the Chasm tracks slap so hard!!!
Have to love how most battle themes hold some form of Photon of Fluctuation in it. That tendency extends to Character themes aswell. So its good that you mentioned Mondstadt's "simplicity" being reflected in its music. They dont have the composition quality that many other tracks have but the core melody has a universal cord progression that makes it fit everywhere with ease.
My personal three picks: 1. Inevitable Conflict 2. Combat Beneath the Waves (I would insert _Dance with the Great Vortex_ here between 2 and 3 if it were in the video) 3. Seething Animosity
Smh, shamelessly saying that the cellos represent the human voice before saying the violas Honestly loving this whole reaction. Inevitable conflict is one of my absolute favorite pieces, especially for that grand forte that leads into the violin solo where they're doing really well-executed seesaw bowing (like you set your fingers and kind of rock between the highest and lowest strings, that's why the transition between notes is a bit rougher than a normal slur). I also love how you acknowledge those really nice accents on the running eighth notes, it's a very neat way to create a rhythm with an undercurrent of constant notes Yes the pain in enkanomiya. I absolutely adore how in undersea encounters has this incredible intensity to it, especially in the places where the musicians are purposely playing much more harshly and closer to the bridge to make those scraping bows. Fantastic stuff Buoyancy isn't the first word I'd use to describe that but it's so fitting for sumeru battle theme 1. I always like that pattern where all the instruments have really fast notes passed around, it sounds like they're scurrying around, very hype. That pause in the second sumeru battle theme too, like I too paused and almost got killed in the game when I heard that violin solo with the gorgeous ornamentation. It's so clean and beautiful, I can barely handle it. Also hard agree, the passing of the melody between the strings was so nasty, it sounds so seamless. The "hey I know a song" then starting the withering music was a fantastic bit, had me wheezing very hard XD. The withering songs go hard in their own unique way. As in they signify places where you're actually dying because you got debuffed to hell and back. It really is pressuring
I'm looking forward to seeing you explore the Chasm eventually! It's got some new main quests that will explain why some of its tracks are very tragic, Exploring it is also really fun
Definetely late, but im kinda surprised rhymes of vales didnt got an S, or atleast flute (s); just like you said, that middle section is nastyyy, imho the best little music thing genshin has as a whole (definetely not biased lmfao)
Before the Light Fades is such an incredible track, especially once you've done the world quest, it just instantly transports you back to that moment you fight Marana's Avatar. It's so intense and the soloists go so hard it's fantastic!
im well aware hoyomix do great music and i regularly listen to a couple songs from the genshin ost, but such cosy vibes from marco n chat make me actually sit and appreciate the whole soundtrack more than i normally would and _dayum_ is it good (in case you were wondering, i mostly listen to moonlike smile and similar tracks from dragonspine bc they are the *bomb* dude omg, and ruu's song too T^T )
the song at 2:11:38 Gilded Runner makes me think of two people not really fighting, but dancing and playing chess with they themselfs as the pieces. slowly thinking ahead of each other. trading blows when its most opportune to do so, and moving the board around to give each other an advantage. not one single person leading yet giving no quarters also.
Thank Macro, when i litsen all again. it make me so impressive in detail of music. many songs have interesting rhythms and unique instruments (Oh, and HBD AllegroBenRitmato too)
honestly though, in terms of battle themes, I enjoy so many of them, but 1:05:55 - Seething Animosity just hits on a whole different level emotionally. In the chasm, we learn so many painful, horrible things about Khaenri'ah and our sibling. And suddenly the hilichurls we beat up with no second thought before were not some ambiguous monsters, you can't help but think of what kind of person this one or that one was. You don't want to fight them, you don't want to fight the knight, knowing the tragedy of their lives. Throughout the entire quest I didn't want to look at them or touch any of them because I felt like a monster, but I had to and it was painful and so, so sad. I feel like that track just perfectly encapsulates how the traveler must have felt, too. The horror, the grief, the pain and the inevitability. That's when their battles must have felt the hardest emotionally, no doubt. And the track just feels exactly like that. Pain, guilt, confusion and inevitability.
Great Red Sand Desert Battle theme 1 is my all time favourite, nothing can beat it. I just spend my entire time inside the Pyramid, can't stop shaking my belly 2:31:20
1:49:56 fun fact: the music in one of the domains in mondstadt (the one with the water enemies) uses those same beep boop sounds that are happening in this song.
Photon of Fluctuation is really everywhere, probably resembles the traveler since their original powers, as we can see on the picking the twin scene, the white light, and light=photons.
I still think it was one hella cool idea for You Peng Chen to add this Harpsichord - Organ centred sounds for a Fantasy Disney land... It gave it a vibe like nothing else. It feel mediaeval but completely unreal...
One great battle theme is " Dance with the great vortex " from Liyue defense / Osial boss. What I like the most about this theme is the the oscillation between calm and agitation/ fury just like the Ocean since the fight involves a sea monster god
What I love about Monstadt’s battle themes is just the sense of lightness that they invoke. Although they are not as intense as you’d expect (“too peaceful” like you said), it kind of makes sense for the free-spirited and largely peaceful nature of Mondstadt. Compared to the other storylines, Monstadt had the least amount of internal conflict and turmoil (which can largely be attributed to it being an early-game quest). Plus, the flowing melodies of the violins really give you the feeling of fighting with the wind in your veins. Monstadt’s themes may not quite succeed completely as battle themes, but they do embody the land of the Anemo archon quite well :D
31:09 *I, Fischl, Prinzessin Der Verurteilung, shall accompany and help you in your quest. Rejoice!* *Ah.. Ohayò gozaimasu... Tabibito - san, Paimon - san... Mein Frāulein means to say that she'll be happy and excited to help you in your journey for today.*
Marco admitting to play every day: 1:36:15 Dual in the mist is really good, except in those story domains where they have only that playing for the 30+ minutes you are in the domain.
Yk based on a first listen or no background knowledge listen i agree with some of the choices maybe not being as flagrant as others. But considering the context behind the music, the scenario, the location, the time it fits in so well. Mondstadt is like beginnijg your adventure where every mob seems somewhat difficult to fight and theres very joyful themes that excude the emotions of freedom and beginnings. Liyue begins to really tone down on themes of a nation, moreover the chinese theme and when combined with how liyue is pieced together its stayed a solid contender for music imo. Inazuma obviously does the same but for the japanese and really does its job for exhibiting what a scary and dangeorus place inzuma is. Sumeru is also lit because it explores music in a different connotation then its former, while being battle heavy and conflict driven. Sumeru is about outbraining the opposing side, with less combat themes and more mind manipulation and mass oppression through culture blah blah im too lazy now
Keep in mind that "C" or low "B" tier doesnt mean its bad You dont need to make a super intense battle music everytime you fight something The Chasm for example, its dark and empty, the S tier song is only at the end of the cave, other low tier songs just fit the enviroment in the Chasm.
We did get a little glimpse in fontain music in the teyvat story trailer travail. The trailer basically show each update to come without really spoiling the story even though they kinda say what the story will be for the region. But they also like I say show a glimpse of each region music which is cool. I’m excited for natlan music. What region are you excited for?
All I could say that they really had the patience to reveal Sumeru to us. How the Dendro element works, to the songs. The Withering Battle Theme gave me horror chills while fighting for my life killing those flowers and worse, the rift wolves. The Battle Theme 1 is the reason why I love to dwell on the desert ruins.
The chat during the first few songs already brought it up, but I wonder if the audio quality thing being off is just a stream setting hiccup? Standalone videos that Marco released hadn't had similar audio quality oddities, iirc (i.e. not recorded during a live stream), meanwhile they have occurred in live streams quite a few times already, I believe I think it went as far back as the stream for "Jade Moon Upon A Sea of Clouds" album listen-along live stream (can also confirm it exists in GENSHIN CONCERT 2022 listen/watch-along live stream) I think "Footprints of the Traveler" full album listen-along would be the last live stream with perfect audio I dunno how to explain it, but the audio just sounds compressed somehow (chat brought up that it was likely misconfig'd into mono, but not sure)
2:10:58 technically you could just watch the travail trailer for the quest name but also the quest names in the travail trailer are names for the final archon quest of the region not the first archon quest of the region (I'm saying this cuz the dude who wrote the comment you're responding to here said it was the name of the first quest even though it's not cuz the mondstadt and liyue ones are the names of the final archon quest act). Also there's a chance that the names are subject to change because of mistranslation or something like that. Also, you should watch the travail trailer. I mean you don't have to but it would be nice if you did. Mihoyo posted it on youtube right before Genshin was released and they did their best to be as vague as possible to not spoil us while still technically giving us hints that we don't understand until we've already finished the archon quests. Also there's music in it lol

Yes. It's the same thing that Fire Emblem's been doing at least since Awakening (haven't played any game in that series before that one). I really wanted for people to notice this more cause it's the first time that Genshin has done that
Woah I didn’t ever notice that!! Granted, I never go into the chasm because I hate that place with a passion, but… still really cool!!

This is the perfect fit for the newbie area in the game. This is not my favorite battle theme but I think it is a well crafted piece with a clear purpose.
yeah, it's a battle against your first regular hilichurls and slimes. at first it even sounds similar to hilichurl's growling
Same! it totally pulls you into the world of Teyvat, it has this nostalgic quality akin to BOTW in my opinion
Oh yeah. Hearing the starting of that soundtrack immediately brings a lot of memories of starting to explore the world. The curiousity element is soo strong with it
I like when the music escalates it's like the game telling us "Come on, don't give up! You can do it!" My all time favorite battle theme from this game.

Enkanomiya music hits different. Kind of like the chasm, but more atlantis-ish and less "random tragedies everywhere"
@@Nokyyyyy its not just tragic like Atlantis. It's also monument for human cruelty, infamy and corruption

First time I listened to this I tried tapping to the song but I couldn’t understand it until I counted the beats. It has such a special effect!
Enkanomiya and Chasm have some real underrated bangers
I really love how Photon Fluctuation became a leitmotif for anything in the game ever. Like, you can hear that familiar tone in the trailers they release.
you even hear it when all 4 of your characters die
Finally some recognition for Inevitable Conflict. I feel that only you and Aliciaxlife have reacted to this theme.
Same feeling. FINALLY. The most underrated and undervalued tracks in the Hoyo-mix history.
That must be the most underrated track in the game
This is underrated? Holy, I thought everyone loves it
@@infernoblazes2299 We were the small community that loves it, and was there because we knew he was going to react to it. XD But you can search the theme and see the low views compared to others of the same quality.
I couldn't stop myself from crying every time I heard it in the chasm but I didn't know its name. Now I know it, it explains everything 🥺
1:20:00 "Inevitable Conflict" Is easily my favourite battle theme.. Just everything about it is absolutely a spectacular masterpiece.
Adaptif soundtrack
The violin solo in Inevitable Conflict alone deserves an S. I love that song. Still my favorite music in Genshin. It makes me cry from how beautiful the music is in its own.
Dragonspine is honestly A to S tier but you really have to listen to it when you’re actually experiencing while fighting in dragonspine to really have its effect especially with the threat of sheer cold
Agreed. Enka music, along with Dragonspine, really shines in it's intended environment. The music is _part_ of the experience
The pulses of the music go extremely well with the pulses of sheer cold
Agreed bro Dragonspine ost is still may favourite among many others, it still reminds me how much I struggled to clear Dragonspine with my underlevelled characters, Frankly i like the extra regions and their lore and exploration more than the Main map
Dragonspine is one of my favourites for the music. Great stuff.
Such a gem!
My favorite
1. Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie
2. Inevitable Conflict
3. Duel in the Mist
4. Undersea Encounters
5. Jolts of the forest
not really in order all equally good
We have the same top 5! I absolutely love these and i cant rank them cos they’re all fantastic.
@@apolkiss6117 so true!
How do we have the same top lol

I gotta say, when I first heard Swirls of Shamshir it blew me away, especially the live concert. Really love how progressive it is and how it builds to a really epic sweeping sound by the end of it.
Swirls of Shamsir. Between 2:00:40 and 2:01:23 gives me chills every time I listen to it. Pure bliss for my ears
Shamshir means a type of persian sword so its like swirls as a sword dance, thats why it has its fun side
Actually refreshing to listen to the full songs once in a while before everything dies in a few seconds :)
Inevitable conflict is one of my favorite tracks in the game! So glad that it's getting more recognition
I always wanted you to react to these battle themes. You already listened to some of them in the concert, but especially Enkanomiya, Chasm, and Sumeru battle themes. I thought you would make a video for each of them and it would take lots of time, but seeing them in one large reaction video... This does put a smile on my face.
im also going to make individual videos so don't worry.
Let’s see what you can do.”
If that makes sense 😅

26:00 is my favorite battle bgm mainly because it is used in Childe’s domain story quest and you can hear the similarity between Childe’s demo theme and that battle ost
Maybe because dragonspine shares similarities with the harsh conditions of snezhanaya but i sure as hell dont want the entirety of snezhanaya to be afflicted w sheer cold
@@linglingwannabe9135 It probably will be. But it’s entirely possible we’ll get some means of traveling through Snezhanaya without being affected by Sheer Cold that much.
@@JosepiThe13th gahhhhhh
I feel like the first enkanomiya battle theme "Combet beneath the waves" was an experimental battle theme and ended up becoming one of his best works in the game
it was intentionally different, enka is a place fated to be erased from history and should not be a part of tevyat
@@HarumNasiku that just proves that to make it different, they had to experiment with different stuff and think outside of the box in order to get that feeling of the new environment and the feel that this isn't suppose to be a part of genshin.
At first you have the "enkanomiyazed" Teyvat leitmotif, then you add the all the Enkanomiya feeling from the non battle themes, and you make it very intense with what sounds like 5-6 instruments, keeping it consistent with most of Enka's osts
Doesn't reslly feel experimental to me
@@JustSomeGuyWithAMug what i mean by experimental is in terms of genshin where most of the battle themes (except boss themes) were orchestrated with traditional instruments rather than a violin solo
honestly we are just blessed to be able to live in this era listening to yu peng chen's and his team's works of art
Sumeru has incredible musics (hustles and bustles of port Ormos *cough*)
As a Swiss, I hope there will be more german-austrian-swiss instruments and styles in Mondstadt, like accordion and alp horn (I have no idea how to put the latter in a battle music tho)
they put a whale call in a song, they will figure it out
Yea Middle eastern too oud, saz, ney and darbuka were easily seen on the Live performances
That is in case you cant tell just by listening, marco already knew by listening on first live how it was close to shehrazad music (..or however they type her name) (dunyarzad was shehrazad sister's name in there too haha)
@@Nokyyyyy did you try checking out fischl's GAA domain music? I didn't play much in that time but I think I might've heard some
@@juska4235 it was in Bach's style if I remember correctly
For me, His Resolution for Mondstadt, Rapid as Wildfires for Liyue, Duel in the Mist for Inazuma, and Swirls of Shamshir for Sumeru have to be the respective themes I think of for each region
The idyllic tunes of being disrupted in peaceful lounging in Mondstadt, fighting in gorgeous mountains above the clouds in Liyue, dueling in an oppressive atmosphere amongst the Kairagi in Inazuma, and combat in the desert sands of Sumeru - each of them had their effect on me absolutely
My S-Tiers had to be Duel in the Mist, Swirls of Shamshir, Irresistible Force, and Undersea Encounter - they were the four tracks that made me feel the moment of the fight or wanted me to prolong the fight longer to listen to the music
yes please do the next nation’s music speculation (mainly fontaine and snezhnaya) i would love to see it so much!
+ maybe add in some little music speculations for the harbingers too
Just came across your compilation and rating of battle themes, awesome work, thanks! I really love GI music and especially the battle themes, so varied depending on their location. I remember drawing out battles when the His Resolution theme was played to enjoy the music longer lol, it's so intense with its driving rhythm and building up and especially the ending from 23:24 on
Those who are still confused the sumeru battle theme of desert and rainforest have same rhymes and swirls theme only wind instruments are different bansuri(Rainforest) and Ney(desert)
instruments different moslty flute
Rainforest - basuri(india)2:4:28
and tabla(india) is this(2:9:00)
Desert - ney(middle eastern flute)1:59:32,2:44:35
Notice this 2:46:47 this swirl of streams(forest)cause its a basuri
When u hear battle music variations like rhymes of vales of forest and the desert ver the flute used in forest is bansuri and desert its sax and ney(flute)
Love how you enjoy and rank battle themes. My favorite was 'Inevitable Conflict' and glad to see you gave solid S for it. What a masterpiece.
Marco: Inevitable Conflict - S-tier
Me: You have chosen...wisely.
I felt exactly the same, I adore these two pieces soo much
I love the chasm ost so much and I still think no other ost of the game can top it for me yet even if the sumeru ost is a banger.
32:25 I remember just standing there in the domain and listening to this for so long ❤️
Also it's kinda sad that it was locked behind a time limited event.
Irresistible force is definitely my favorite, I’ve listened to it on repeat so many times, still sends shivers down my skin
No matter watever battle music comes and goes rapid as wildfire is the best ❤ liye ❤
NICE appreciation for Jolts of the Forest as well! I LOVE that middle part and how the music builds up to that climax.
Finally some well-deserved Jolts in the forest recognition! Jolts stans unite!
@@dagwardenaer8450had a phase where I was just listening to it everytime because of how heavenly the trumpet climax was
@@s2wuolf508 Oh, same here.
skipped straight to chasm because it's my absolute favourite, but i'll listen to the entire thing once it's done :D
out of pure egoism i hope that someday you and other partly-genshin mostly-music-oriented CCs (like Alex Moukala) do a collab/tribute of some sort, because that would be magnificent. i Will Believe /j
i REALLY hope they use a theremin or something similar in fontaine for some moments, it would fit fontaine's theme of progress
Watching you react to the Chasm themes was great, they get so little recognition!
Mondstadt one is peacefully energetic with a sense of curiousity in exploration and freedom
Liyue ones feel rich.
I'm obsessed, like really deep in love with Enkanomiya. From the lore, the map, and the musics. Truly a masterpiece.
Die midsommernacht fantasie hits different for an event exclusive battle theme tbh, especially when the guitar takes the stage.
INEVITABLE CONFLICT S TIER I KNEW YOU'LL LIKE IT 😭
It's my favorite song in all of genshin it's just so PACKED
It cripples my soul for these OSTs to be ranked. But it is fun to see you choose where the placements go under harsh conditions!
I loved the version they did with Gallant Challenge in the first concert. The keyboard guy shredded that.
My personal three picks:
1. Inevitable Conflict
2. Combat Beneath the Waves
(I would insert _Dance with the Great Vortex_ here between 2 and 3 if it were in the video)
3. Seething Animosity
Smh, shamelessly saying that the cellos represent the human voice before saying the violas
Honestly loving this whole reaction. I also love how you acknowledge those really nice accents on the running eighth notes, it's a very neat way to create a rhythm with an undercurrent of constant notes
Yes the pain in enkanomiya. I absolutely adore how in undersea encounters has this incredible intensity to it, especially in the places where the musicians are purposely playing much more harshly and closer to the bridge to make those scraping bows. Fantastic stuff
Buoyancy isn't the first word I'd use to describe that but it's so fitting for sumeru battle theme 1.
Hahahaha just teasing
I'm looking forward to seeing you explore the Chasm eventually! It's got some new main quests that will explain why some of its tracks are very tragic, Exploring it is also really fun
This was so fun, very comforting just vibing with everyone with this fantastic music. Made me realise i was sleeping on some jamming tracks!!
It's so intense and the soloists go so hard it's fantastic!
im well aware hoyomix do great music and i regularly listen to a couple songs from the genshin ost, but such cosy vibes from marco n chat make me actually sit and appreciate the whole soundtrack more than i normally would and _dayum_ is it good
(in case you were wondering, i mostly listen to moonlike smile and similar tracks from dragonspine bc they are the *bomb* dude omg, and ruu's song too T^T )
The amount of excitement i felt seeing u react to enkanomiyas ost is insane, my favorite area and music in the game!
loved this!! I have a playlist of all the battle themes from genshin and it’s been great studying music during finals this week.
the song at 2:11:38 Gilded Runner makes me think of two people not really fighting, but dancing and playing chess with they themselfs as the pieces. slowly thinking ahead of each other. trading blows when its most opportune to do so, and moving the board around to give each other an advantage. not one single person leading yet giving no quarters also.
2:29:24 yes, it is a boss theme, specifically one you hear near the end of the aranyaka questline in sumeru
Thank Macro, when i litsen all again. it make me so impressive in detail of music. many songs have interesting rhythms and unique instruments (Oh, and HBD AllegroBenRitmato too)
1:39:45 "you don't hear that ever!"
Me hearing it nearly all of the time: "what?"
honestly though, in terms of battle themes, I enjoy so many of them, but 1:05:55 - Seething Animosity just hits on a whole different level emotionally.
This was very fun! Looking forward to that speculation video Marco!
25:00 That passive-aggressive Like appeal. Okay, Marco. You win.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i knew you would love irresistible force. personally, it's one of the most incredible battle music in genshin
Happy Birthday Marcoooo:D
I'm very happy for you!!!
rather iconic content tbh, LOVE this idea for a stream/video

Marco admitting to play every day: 1:36:15
Dual in the mist is really good, except in those story domains where they have only that playing for the 30+ minutes you are in the domain.
Sumeru is about outbraining the opposing side, with less combat themes and more mind manipulation and mass oppression through culture blah blah im too lazy now
most of Genshin speculation are about gameplay, characters and lore/story, but music. I cant wait to hear it from you Marco !
Keep in mind that "C" or low "B" tier doesnt mean its bad
You dont need to make a super intense battle music everytime you fight something
The Chasm for example, its dark and empty, the S tier song is only at the end of the cave, other low tier songs just fit the enviroment in the Chasm.
Love to see my slept on bois Desert Battle 1 and No Turning Back in A and B+. Can understand if my other favorite Before the Light Fades is a B-.
1:50:56 its a battle theme that is played in Vishap Chamber, Remixed from Mondtsadt's domain - Cecilia Garden [Beats of Water Drops]
Duel in the mist is just a vibe. I listen to it almost daily on spotify
Natlan is absolutely #1 on my list for the upcoming regions.
Ten guesses (Fontaine)
All I could say that they really had the patience to reveal Sumeru to us. How the Dendro element works, to the songs.
The Withering Battle Theme gave me horror chills while fighting for my life killing those flowers and worse, the rift wolves.
The Battle Theme 1 is the reason why I love to dwell on the desert ruins.
The chat during the first few songs already brought it up, but I wonder if the audio quality thing being off is just a stream setting hiccup?
Standalone videos that Marco released hadn't had similar audio quality oddities, iirc (i.e. not recorded during a live stream), meanwhile they have occurred in live streams quite a few times already, I believe
I think it went as far back as the stream for "Jade Moon Upon A Sea of Clouds" album listen-along live stream (can also confirm it exists in GENSHIN CONCERT 2022 listen/watch-along live stream)
I think "Footprints of the Traveler" full album listen-along would be the last live stream with perfect audio
I dunno how to explain it, but the audio just sounds compressed somehow (chat brought up that it was likely misconfig'd into mono, but not sure)
ah yes, I hear it. Thanks!
@bobby you were right and so was chat. It was in mono. I spent a few hours on it and it's fixed. thank you!
@@MarcoMeatball Awesome! Looking forward to future streams!
For me the top 5 are
Rapid as wild fires
Irresistible Force
Combat Beneath the waves
Overlord of the thunderstorm
Burst into Flames
All Conquering-tide (Dragonspine battle bgm) is my fave and it gave me so much andrenaline rush the first time i explored Dragonspine. Miss my old genshin days. 😍
