well idk, the fact they all have the same leitmotif in battle themes wouldn't make them fit for unique national representation. if you didn't talk about the battle OSTs, then it's viable
For the Sumeru ones that have two versions, it's bc the first version uses mostly Indian instruments, and the second version replaces the Indian instruments with Arabian ones Those two themes are basically the Sumeru theme, but in different versions bc of how different the halves are
Yup agree, I've been listening to Indian music my whole life so the difference between the beat and probably the instruments they used changes the music a little
I really like this detail tbh. It's like the two parts of Sumeru itself, with the Indian version being the forest and the Arabian one being the desert.
Even the rainforest ones have mostly middle eastern instruments, the difference is that they also have a lot of Indian instruments whereas the desert ones don’t (except for a few songs like Apep’s theme and the sitar in swirls of Shamshir). Saying that the rainforest is Indian music and the desert is Arabic music isn’t exactly correct. A better way of saying it would be that in the rainforest versions the Indian instruments take the spotlight and in the desert versions Arabic instruments take the spotlight, but if you actually count there’s a lot of middle eastern instruments in the rainforest versions as well

Except Fontaine for me. The weekly boss themes were the thing that was a downfall for me. Like, they're...okay, but definitely not the same level as the president ones. The whale theme is very generic in the choir part, although there are some nice motifs, and the dubstep is overdone... And Arlecchino's theme is good, but definitely not on the same level as the other harbingers. But I'm actually curious as to what Natlan boss themes will be, because the music has mostly been a very welcome surprise for me 😅
All The Chasm OSTs are played normally when you are underground in The Chasm. They do not have a specific quest tied to with the only exception Irresistible Force. And even then, Irresistible Force is just Tremor of Menace but with Chinese instruments to represent the Five Yakshas.
Imagine only listening to the first half of tremor of menace and irresistible force and ranking them differently 😂. The ending of irresistible force is like my fav track in the game. Wish he would have listened to it.
I have the theory that Photon of Fluctuation si the leitmotiff of every battle theme because is actually the Traveler's Theme, we as a star are light, light is made of photons, and the song's say that photons can fluctuate, what's fluctuate, is move from one place to another, if a person could fluctuate between places wouldn't that be A TRAVELER? We (the Traveler) are the Photon of Fluctuation because we are the star light that came into Teyvat and fluctuate in between the different nations, so our light-wave adaptes to every place we visit, that's why our theme changes depending on where we are.
So he didn’t necessarily skip it. We listened to it at the end during the livestream, but I assume since it’s not something we can still experience in game it was left out for the video.
another explanation for some of the chasm themes edging you like that might be the dynamic ost feature there. they're built to ramp up along with your battle so the base version might be more plain
Another effect this has is that the music is constantly playing and looping, so you'll experience different parts of each song depending on when you enter combat.
Songs that plays in the overworld that were skipped for some reason: 1. Impending Danger (The Chasm) 2. Struggle of Dying Embers (Sumeru, Withering zones) 3. Snare Awaiting (Sumeru, Withering zones) 4. Breaking the Miasma (Liyue, Chenyu Vale, Miasma... zones?) Considering the criteria, songs that shouldn't have been here: 1. Irresistible force (Plays in Domains, not the overworld) On another note, I personally find all of the songs listen worthy outside of the game, like when riding the train and such. The only one I can barely stand is Duel in the Mist, because although good, it becomes very same-y very quickly. I get sick of it after a minute or two and it is the only song that I was forced to switch from when my family heard it as it annoys them. As a battle theme, it's good, but outside of that it is just not enough. Despite this, if I listen to my battle music playlist on Spotify, then I don't skip it even if it comes up. My personal favourite Inazuma battle track is Overlord of the Thunderstorm.
For me Duel in the Mist has a very similar problem. My favourite Inazuma battle themes are Against the Invisible Net and Fiery Pursuit (don't remember exactly where it plays, maybe with some of the bosses or in a domain)
@@theDABTAB Vs Inazuma Bosses sadly, Jolts in the Forest is the same which kind of pisses me off cause the bosses are literally smack in the overworld.

Fun fact for those that's played the game long enough... For some reason, this transition style didn't make it into subsequent patches after, so only the Chasm had this type of OST transitioning in the game.
I think the Chasm songs are very difficult to judge in terms of enjoyment cos they're so unsettling - that beat drop that didn't come, the lack of resolution. It's not something I'd sit down and listen to like with the other battle themes 😅 but it really sounds perfectly like the Abyss.
Funny how even the songs we don’t listen to outside of the game are engraved into our memories to the point where we can reliably remember the song despite rarely hearing it…
1:03:16 fun fact: shamshir in persian is "sword". Now that im here let me tell another fun fact: have you heard of rishboland tigers? Well, rishboland means long beard in persian. Rish = beard. Boland = long. Which is a cool easteregg, because they look like they have long beard
Bran's comment about the first Enka Battle OST sounding like breathing hits it on the head. I love the song, but that part of it got too much for me because the "breathing" part got me breathing in that rhythm and almost triggered a panic attack multiple times while playing Enka 😂
For me the strings at the beginning of that track have that effect, I've avoided combat quite a few times while playing Enka - and the bgm in Enka happens to be one of my favourites

sumeru music remains peak for me now but when snezhnaya releases it might end up topping it for me because the region is partially based on my own culture and also slavic folk music slaps.
That Sumeru BGM is still my favorite as well. Basically what would happen if you somehow could add a legalized crack to a song, especially THAT part (iykyk).

Imo, if anything, it took a dip during Fontaine in terms of quality and bounced back up in Natlan. Still my favourite melodies of genshin battle Music includes Mondstadt ones. They're super rythmic and melodious
The third battle ost for Natlan always give me Caravan vibes(the one from the movie Whiplash). The changups are similar and I just have to dance listening to them idk why
I have my own set of complains with genshin but one thing i can barely complain is their music. It slaps harder than my neighbour getting yeeted by his mom with a rolling pin

That switch up when he forgot the 3rd Natlan OST and immediately realizes when the song played in just a second i guess we got almost the same taste on music besides the Liyue, we both have the same favorite on Fontaine and Natlan, love the video!
When Enkanomiya was released I had severe Covid and in isolation. The experience of playing through it, along with the atmosphere and battle music was very memorable for me.
About sumeru Rainforest part main highlight are Indian instrument together with some middle eastern instrument Where as Desert part highlights are middle eastern instrument with little indian instrument part which is only in swirls of shamshir and desert ver of rhymes of vales (sitar, bansuri, tabla, dholak, tanpura) and bansuri in last desert area in some pieces, Tabla in first desert area Rainforest vibe represent South Asia Desert vibe represent Middle east Swirls of Shamshir and Streams both same but (Bansuri)indian flute is used in rainforest whereas Shamshir (Ney) Egyptian /middle eastern flute Same in Rhymes of vales and Swirls of sachmis (bansuri)in forest and (ney)in desert with saxophone, both had sitar part Obviously my fav is sumeru😂 The instrumental/ is like a dance battle between South Asia and Middle east(like in swirls of shamshir between Sitar/Oud or Rhymes of vales/swirls of sachmus between Bansuri/Ney with percussion and strings, also the first time I listened a mix between these two together Same here Sumeru/Natlan are peak for me again both have mixture of different cultures joining together to create beautifull music
Inevitable conflict, Combat beneath the waves, Rondeau des fleurs et des rapieres, and Across dimming asterisms are definitely my favourite combat themes. 100% no doubt Sumeru and Natlan music stand together in the highest tier possible in my books.
Note to self: Chasing the Torrents is the song with the sick horn revelry that fits so well when fighting the Ruin Guards
Gilded Runner hit so hard my TH-cam froze
The natlan vocals 🙌 really gives me the nier vibes
AAAHHHH loved this. Glad to see youtubers passionate about the genshin ost aswell!!
Liye music battle theme is the best of best no 1 ❤
Not sure man... I feel Mondstadt ones are not hitting because you hear it in a simple, calm region and it's made for that calmness.
Imo, if anything, it took a dip during Fontaine in terms of quality and bounced back up in Natlan. Still my favourite melodies of genshin battle Music includes Mondstadt ones. They're super rythmic and melodious
Chasm battle theme is goated gives you perfect vibe of tension, boss vibe, and lore
1 hrs 3 mins of Bran rating genshin music?! Absolute cinema ✋️😌✋️
Watching this made me realize that whoever composed these OSTs truly loves music with all their soul, especially with the Sumeru and Fontaine Ost
The third battle ost for Natlan always give me Caravan vibes(the one from the movie Whiplash). The changups are similar and I just have to dance listening to them idk why
Reminds me of mexico in the first part and Brazil in the moddle last time
I have my own set of complains with genshin but one thing i can barely complain is their music. It slaps harder than my neighbour getting yeeted by his mom with a rolling pin
FINALLY BATTLE OST VIDEO YAYYY
Thank God one of the well-known Genshin tubers are finally doing this.
was expecting you to listen to jolts in the forest and it just got straight up skipped, lol. even tho, great vid as always
15:08 Cicin flys in Liyue! I swear that is when it plays
51:50
IS THAT A WALKING FUN GUY!?!? (Fungi)
The best battle OST for me is the one in Fischl's domain titled Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie.
agree
I LOVE LAMENTATION ET TRIOMPHE!!! SO MUCH!! i spent half an hour looking through every piece of fontaine music because i didn’t know i could just look up the battle themes..
am i trippin or bran just forgot summer event battle ost especially "Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie" from fischl castle
Ya it's not included in the playlist, but I'm sure that's an easy S
That switch up when he forgot the 3rd Natlan OST and immediately realizes when the song played in just a second
i guess we got almost the same taste on music besides the Liyue, we both have the same favorite on Fontaine and Natlan, love the video!
During Sumeru's patch i used to make scorpions/tigers follow me as i explore so i could hear these banger osts
50:20 is EASILY the best!! That high notes were sounding very climactic but gets dramatic on 50:31 is just gold!
When Enkanomiya was released I had severe Covid and in isolation. The experience of playing through it, along with the atmosphere and battle music was very memorable for me.
About sumeru
Rainforest part main highlight are Indian instrument together with some middle eastern instrument
Where as Desert part highlights are middle eastern instrument with little indian instrument part which is only in swirls of shamshir and desert ver of rhymes of vales (sitar, bansuri, tabla, dholak, tanpura) and bansuri in last desert area in some pieces, Tabla in first desert area
Rainforest vibe represent South Asia
Desert vibe represent Middle east
Swirls of Shamshir and Streams both same but (Bansuri)indian flute is used in rainforest whereas Shamshir (Ney) Egyptian /middle eastern flute
Same in Rhymes of vales and Swirls of sachmis (bansuri)in forest and (ney)in desert with saxophone, both had sitar part
Obviously my fav is sumeru😂
The instrumental/ is like a dance battle between South Asia and Middle east(like in swirls of shamshir between Sitar/Oud or Rhymes of vales/swirls of sachmus between Bansuri/Ney with percussion and strings, also the first time I listened a mix between these two together
Same here Sumeru/Natlan are peak for me again both have mixture of different cultures joining together to create beautifull music
Inevitable conflict, Combat beneath the waves, Rondeau des fleurs et des rapieres, and Across dimming asterisms are definitely my favourite combat themes.
Honestly genshin knocks it out the park with most of their combat themes. But personally, I think those four just have something so spectacular about them, Inevitable conflict especially. It's genuinely one of my favourite pieces of music ever.
(In case you can't tell I'm a little obsessed with genshin's music, I could write essays on them 💀)
Friendly reminder that this is a free game btw
Friendly reminder that there might be people here saying that it forces you to pay (when it doesn't)
