Daniel Ricciardo? Minus the openly massive playboy aspect and extreme drug habits of course, but modern F1 demands more of a "my body is a temple" approach so thats to be expected. Ricciardo is an absolute character!
Both Lauda and Hunt were both great drivers and they both have a part in rewriting the rule book. Hunt had a live fast die young lifestyle and look where that has got him, Lauda lead a precision type lifestyle and look where that left off to. I'd say the thing is, they both got what they wanted and unknowingly changed f1 history and both are legends in their own respective ways.
If a driver acted like Hunt today, they would be escorted off premises and forbidden to participate in racing. I’m glad someone of his talent and spirit was able to do what he did in the 70’s.
I LOVED to movie rush chris portrayed james sooooo(not enough"o's in "soooo" damn well if I was james I would 've ran back to help Niki when he crashed !
Is that a rhetorical question? I think F1 is all about big business now. Sponsors and public image. The drivers are under certain pressure to behave in a specific manner - team rules, decorum etc. But it isn't just F1. Society in general requires conformity now, especially in the business context. No boozing, whoring or drug use - at least not in an open honest way that Hunt did it.
I’ve heard and read that he was a complete and utter bastard, and I hated him as a driver. However he brought the name Gilles Villeneuve to the f1 fraternities attention and he was a great analyst/ commentator, so he’s not so bad
Piquet makes open jokes about dead pilots and assaulted the Chilean in Germany, Prost ran to Balestre´s office after losing, Senna pushed you against a wall at 300 km/h if he could, Schumi will ram his car on your helmet if he can and Hunt punches you in the face. Every driver has his childish behaviour sometimes. What about Verstappen?
Middle class my ass. All these F1 drivers come from money. James Hunt and his parents had money. Shows a million dollar house in the background. Yeah middle class. When's the last time a poor kid raced in F1. Doesn't happen.
He was NOT one of the best. Yes he made it to F1, and he won thanks to Lauda accident. A great sportsman has to cover all the areas. Not only drugs and alcohol plus a good lucky season...
Rommeldito82 Well, Lauda has a totally different opinion than yours, and I'm gonna trust his over yours without hesitation. And if the 82 on your handle has anything to do with your birth-date you are no expert to judge facts before your time as your experience is based on hearsay.
But hunt would've been quicker if he put the same amount of effort Lauda put in, hunt basically partied all weekend and pulled women and still could out perform Lauda at times while Lauda was non stop working at it, Lauda probably deserved the championship more tbh but hunt lived his life to the fullest and inspires many for it
Master Piece I was a kid in the 70's and got to see a world where "men were men and if you don't like it too bad", and then I graduated high school in '83, just in time for this PC world we live in now, at least I got to see that world though.
I wish today’s drivers showed as much personality as he did! RIP.
Most don't HAVE personality. LOL
Daniel Ricciardo? Minus the openly massive playboy aspect and extreme drug habits of course, but modern F1 demands more of a "my body is a temple" approach so thats to be expected. Ricciardo is an absolute character!
Good on James , I think he was a fine world champion, rest in peace mate.
Buzzbox3rd I agree

Hey Marty, thanks for the link, that was well worth the watch.

If a driver acted like Hunt today, they would be escorted off premises and forbidden to participate in racing. I’m glad someone of his talent and spirit was able to do what he did in the 70’s.
Why would you put part 1 up if you aren't planning on adding part 2?
Where is part 2.....?
His first race car was actually a Mini.
Legend.
The Mc Laren M23 was a three year old car, and James drove the wheels of that thing..
Hunt = Rock Star of F1, Rindt = Pop Star of F1.

Wenching might have been a better choice of word but yes in agreement there with you.
why do you think f1 doesn't have room for people like hunt anymore ?
I like emotional People!!!
It's up full on streetfire.
In the paddock I heard he was called “Hunt the c*nt”.
haha
F1 doesn't have room for characters like Hunt anymore....so boring now.
but motoGp still have ...
Senna going in reverse would have flushed Hunt and lauda out their own asses.
cocaine-fueled rage
Hot head cus he was either drunk or high in the car unreal how the days were back them
3:30 XD
ikr xD
I can't stand so-called documentaries that try to fake old 8mm home movies.
I’ve heard and read that he was a complete and utter bastard, and I hated him as a driver.
However he brought the name Gilles Villeneuve to the f1 fraternities attention and he was a great analyst/ commentator, so he’s not so bad
the Real James HUNT is Richard Hammond :)
Fuck you
Please? : )
I don't know why they do that crap !?
It was in fact cocaine and so on .........

He was NOT one of the best. Yes he made it to F1, and he won thanks to Lauda accident. A great sportsman has to cover all the areas. Not only drugs and alcohol plus a good lucky season...
***** And Hunt was a better driver as well mate.Lauda and Hunt where on equal terms as of driving talent.
