    I can't imagine what Frodo would be like as a Nazgul. Like imagine him on a demonic pony threatening people and they all laugh at him because he's like three feet tall and invisible

    • @HENKISAFAG
      @HENKISAFAG 7 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      The Blessed Caesar Games him turning into a ringwraith doesn't mean he becomes a Nazgul. He probably would become a lost spirit trapped in the physical world.

    • @alanguages
      @alanguages 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I would guess Frodo would become like the Barrow Wight he cut the hand of, if he became somewhat a version of a Nazgul.

    • @christosvoskresye
      @christosvoskresye 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Actually, it was just said (if I recall correctly) that he would become a wraith, not a ringwraith. The suggestion of alanguages sounds more like what Tolkien intended.

    • @MasterBombadillo
      @MasterBombadillo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Thom D Turning him into a Ringwraith does mean becoming a Nazgul. After all, Ringwraith is the translation of Nazgul. He would probably turn into a wraith.

    • @HENKISAFAG
      @HENKISAFAG 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MasterBombadillo that's what I was trying to say but after reading back I get the confusion. Indeed I too believe Frodo would become a wraith and not a ringwraith.

    Am I the only one who noticed The Witch King of Angmar is to Sauron as Sauron is to Morgoth? Both Sauron and the Witch King are the highest ranking and most trusted servants of their respective lords, both project fear and power, but both are just weaker versions of their masters (Morgoth > Sauron > Witch King). I feel that, had Eowyn not killed the Witch King, we would be looking at a third dark lord trying to take Middle Earth. Really puts into perspective how awesome that part is. Plus I always loved how Eowyn isn't some godlike warrior, she's just a person trying to do good, and I feel she's heavily underappreciated.

      No because with the one rings destroyed, the 9 lose their power so nothing is keeping the wraiths from death

    • @personb9034
      @personb9034 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Nope, the Witch King doesn't have a will of his own. He is a tool of Sauron, he can't betray him or have his own goals.

    • @danmurray1996
      @danmurray1996 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I know this is 10 months old, but I'll go ahead. Despite what the other responses say here, you are mostly correct. Morgoth's power seduced Sauron and Sauron's power seduced the Witch King. You also would have been right about the Witch King proving to be a new dark lord in Sauron's place had he survived, IF the one ring had not been destroyed.
      This proved to be true in the creation of Angmar, when Sauron was defeated the first time, as the Witch King proved to be an effective ruler with his own agenda in Sauron's absence, until his defeat.
      The greatest difference that comes with Sauron vs the Witch King's ability to take up the mantle of Dark Lord is where their master's power lies. Sauron was able to return again and again in part because he was a maia, and because his power was tied to Morgoth's corruption which was rooted in creation itself. The Witch King on the other hand was formerly a dark sorcerer, so he no doubt had means of extending his life, however his power was tied to the One Ring meaning with it's destruction so too would he fall.
      So all in all you have the right idea, as long as you keep in mind that the World is to Sauron as the One Ring is to the Witch King.

    • @personb9034
      @personb9034 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@danmurray1996 The way I see it, morgoth corrupting sauron is completely different from the way sauron corrupted the witch king (and all nazgul). Morgoth corrupted sauron with evil, but sauron isn't directly bound to morgoth. The nazgul are direct slaves to sauron, all bound to "the one" in terms of both their physical survival and mental capacity.

    • @danmurray1996
      @danmurray1996 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@personb9034 Sauron was twisted by Morgoth to view Order as an end of itself, all servants of Darkness are in some way bound to Morgoth's will, but to say they lack their own agendas or goals is too far. The Nazgul are bound to the One Ring, but not so limited that they do not act of their own accord. That is clearly evident in the Witch Kings actions when Sauron was defeated. The Witch King went about building his own empire and establishing rivalries with his own enemies. The Nazgul still do retain their own will that they act on in their master's absence, just as Sauron acts until Morgoth's return at Dagor Dagorath.

    Great video, but I think it's also important to note, regardless how people feel about Tom Bombadil, Tom saved the hobbits from the barrow wights and found and gave the dagger, used by merry, that weakened the witch king thus making it possible for its demise.

    I always wonder if Sauron distributed the rings of power to each race in accordance with the first of their kind. What I mean is, three rings for the elven kings: there were three Elf lords in the beginning, the first elves. Seven for the Dwarf-Lords: there were seven dwarves as the first dwarves, made by Aule. And so, there must have been nine lords of men in the beginning of the race of men, because there were nine rings given to Men.

    • @russaugust1647
      @russaugust1647 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The rings were given to the closest decedents who lived in middle earth I guess. None were given to those in the Undying Lands of Valinor and many of the elf lords never left ,so I guess they just gave them to people living in middle earth.

    • @Apollo1989V
      @Apollo1989V 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Interesting thought. There were more than 3 elf lords, but there were three groups of the Eldar and three representatives that originally went to Valinor to convince their people to make the great journey. The three original holders of the Three rings represented each group of the Eldar. While no Vanyar ever returned to Middle Earth to live, Galadriel grandmother was related to the king of the Vanyar. Gil-galad was the High King of the Noldor. Cirdan was the the second in command to Thingol, the original representative of the third group. The three Numenorians were significant because there were three house of the Edian, men who fought with the elves against Morgoth and became the founders of the kingdom of Numenor.

    • @alanguages
      @alanguages 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I thought at first the rings were distributed to kings of men like Easterlings, Balcoths, Southrons, Wainriders, Variags and such. I know some are different versions of Easterlings, but there were so many, I thought they had different kingdoms and locations. I wish there were more information.

    • @ironbear5073

      I mean the three original elven lords, the first of their race, even before the three lords chosen to lead the elves to valinor. These three lords were Imin, Tata, and Enel. go here to find out more: tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Elf-fathers (copy and paste).

I was completely shocked that it wasn't a star wars video or another my little pony one. lol. jk. honestly, it was a refreshing surprise to watch a new lotr video from you again. great work. keep it up sir. enjoyed it very much as well as your new star wars series. no one I've heard quite describes things like you do about lore we all enjoy. my question is didn't Tom Bomba dill give the hobbits magical daggers meant to weaken the Nazgul riders? or was that just those random daggers Aragorn gave them at weather top just for protection but they kept them all this time and turned out to be key in defeating the lord of the Nazgul? I know the movies and books are different cause they didn't include the magical Tom Bomba dill man. Didn't the witchking also break gandalf s staff? why did the dagger that stabbed him disappear? thanks. :) exploring series guy.

    • @ironbear5073
      @ironbear5073 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The daggers were given to the hobbits by Tom Bombadil when he rescued them from the barrow-wights. These daggers were made by craftsmen of arnor during the war with the Witch King of Angmar who later returned in the War of the Ring as the lord of the nazgul. They were made specially to combat the witch king and his forces. This is why the dagger disappeared when Merry stabbed the Witch-King in the leg, because the dagger's purpose was finally fulfilled, to kill or to, in this case, help kill the witch king.
      Questions answered.
      If you wanna know more then go here: tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Daggers_of_Westernesse
      Oh yeah, i almost forgot, the Witch King did not break Gandalf's staff, the new one after he came back to life from being killed by the balrog.
      Here's how it goes: Gandalf the Grey, when he faced the Balrog in Moria, broke the bridge with his staff and in the process also breaking the staff itself. Then, Gandalf and the Balrog fought each other to death. Gandalf returns as Gandalf the White, and now acquires a new staff. Gandalf's new staff is never broken by anyone. Finally, when Gandalf departs from Middle-Earth to sail over the sea with Elrond and Galadriel and Frodo and Bilbo, his staff goes with him. It is not known what becomes of it beyond the sea. Presumably, Gandalf keeps it forever.

      Khamul was indeed involved in the Lothlorien campaign, first attacking Lothlorien (along with 2-3 other wraiths) and then defending Dol Guldur against Galadriel's counter-attack. They were ultimately defeated by Galadriel bolstered by her Elven ring of Power, but of course the life force of those wraiths weren't extinguished until the moment the One Ring was destroyed.

    Debate: Did Sauron take back the 9 rings of power after the men were wraiths? We know Sauron had 4 of the 7 dwarven rings, yet wouldn’t Sauron want even more power?
    I believe the ring wraiths kept the rings because if they took them off, what says that Sauron could still control them? In fellowship, Frodo is stabbed with a morgul blade which would turn him into a wraith, but not necessarily a RING wraith, if the 9 had that kind of weapon, then why aren’t there more ring wraiths? The blade was probably meant to place Frodo solely in the wraith world so those who saw in the wraith world, like the ring wraiths or Sauron, could see him with ease.

    • @AlphaZaku
      @AlphaZaku 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joe King Tolkien stated that Sauron took back the Nine and keeps them.
      Sauron can still control the Nazgul after their rings are removed because they are utterly enslaved to them after fading to Wraiths. Also in taking back their rings is precisely what allows Sauron to continue to control them after he himself has lost the One. Without the One Sauron cannot dominate the other rings, so he controls the Nazgul through their rings directly by possessing them.

    The nazgul were powerful when their opponents are weak, because of the aura of terror. During Gondor's golden age, steward Boromir(Not Boromir during the War of the Ring)drove the forces of Minas Morgul led by the WK away from the areas of Ithilien. It was said because of his strong will, even the WK feared him.

      Well, fear is unfortunately a very effective tool at controlling a population, and can be seen even today. You’d also have to be extremely cunning and ruthless (the Witch King would be very good at both). Probably the biggest thing you’d need would be power, in any capacity. And finally, at least in my own thoughts, you’d need extremely loyal servants (WK has the orcs/Uruk-hai for that)

      When the Witch King of Angmar is defeated, no mention is made of his ring. Obviously, it would be dangerous to wear it, but it would also be foolish of the soldiers of Rohan to just let it sit there.

    • @gregorymacdonnell7914
      @gregorymacdonnell7914 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is Angband lil ol sikk. They were the subterranean fortresses of Morgoth,where he hid,and ruled from. After the Elves and men finally sacked the latter (Utumno was made first) they never fully explored all the secret chambers of torment and torture,and the Balrogs and other beasts that were hidden in there. Had they done so,the later days would have been clear of althe Balrog that killed Gandalf. But this was not the case. As the Elves (and the Valar before them) were always too lenient and merciful when dealing out punishment to the evil that sought to utterly destroy them.I believe if Men had the authority to punish Morgoth ,and his servants, that they would have destroyed them outright.I love the Elves ,at least the Noldor, but they are always too kind to those willing to utterly erase them from the face of the earth, and with great pleasure.

    So there’s definitely a debate between nerds about 7:40 events. Did the hobbits blade kill the wraith or did the woman’s blade? Neither are man and there’s a special significance of the hobbit’s blade that have led many to believe it was actually that blade which killed him.
