As a man who missed the Sega Saturn entirely and started with a PlayStation 1 I appreciate the pointers on making it possible to play all of these amazing games I missed. ESPECIALLY the fan translated stuff I never would have been able to touch. Shining Force 3 looks amazing. I gotta play through this series
Also worth noting that you shouldn't use low quality CD-Rs for consoles. Low quality discs can be harder for the Saturn to read resulting in music skipping, loading issues or wearing out the laser in the long run. Also yes discs should "ideally" be burned 8x or under, and preferably on an interior disc burner rather than a usb burner. Idk exactly WHY that is, but I assume the burn is just less accurate. The more you know 🌈
correct! I'm hoping that people know that using good quality CD-R's is general knowledge. :D however burners are getting harder to find hence the USB burner is a good option if you have nothing else. Thanks for the input
@@RetroRelicZoneTaiyo Yuden manufactured by JVC. Those CD-R's are absolute quality, and imo the best CD-R’s on the market. It was used a lot back in the days.
Dear GameMistress, thanks a looooooot for this instruction!) Thank you very much!)
Just a heads up, do not using the basic verbatim discs (cmc magnetic) they are shit. If buying cdrs either buy verbatim data life plus CD-Rs or the jvc/taiyo yuden. Your Saturn laser will have a way easier time reading these.
Thank you for watching :D this is a nifty way to save tons of money or to test a game before you want to buy the real thing. it's also a cool way to take backups of your game :D
Wish I could recommend this video to everyone who wants to get a Saturn but is afraid it will be too hard to setup. After watching this video I bought a Saturn and pseudo Saturn Kai . Now just a few more thibgs and hopefully I’m good to go
Awsome! I already knew this. So i dont knlw why i am here 😂👍 but great short video for people who did not know. I burned alot of ps1 games the same way. 😐 I do own 200 original ps1 games. And 105 saturn games. So i think its fair to borrow some roms 😀👍
Really super easy to write a CD that can work on Sega Saturn. Do I always need the Saturn Kai? Or is that only for games for a different region? Like can I make a copy of a game I have and run it without the cartridge?
Hey! I hope you can help me, I have done all the steps in the video to burn panzer dragoon saga and the game goes to team andromeda presents then a black screen then reboots to the multimedia player, any clue how I can fix this? It runs panzer dragoon 1 just fine, its just saga I read theres an issue with saga with the pseudo kai cartridges that have ram since third party ram cartridges makes it crash or something
I think i have an issue with my saturn? I burned some games from that website and burbed the cue file onto a disk at X2 speed. (i have one of those pseudo saturns) Sometimes my saturn will read those disks, but sometimes the game will just freeze or sometimes it will get stuck on the pseudo saturn kai's loadi g screen. Any help?
If this is only happening on burned discs try obtaining a different copy from another website Also, I've burned all of mine at x8 speed and had no problems.
The Amazon link in the description leads to a generic search of multiple different USB Disc burners. I’m assuming any of these are fine, unless there is a specific one you wanted to recommend?
Hey I look at your tutorial on how to burn games the presentation is awesome and understand making the video short and kinda simple the only I had is when it came to the process you kinda go through it fast not step by step with the extracting 7zip it was like 3 icons open at once in it was kinda hard to to your step and talk so fast, long story short it did not work for me 😞😓😩 but aye it was good to watch .
Still waiting on my pseudo cart in the mail. In the meantime I burned X-men vs sf and then every game I tried to burn after that my attempt would fail. Can anybody help me with this?
Update. Went to play X-men vs street fighter with my cart. The game wouldn’t load but I could listen to the music on my home screen. Anybody got a fix for this?😅
Update, I just reinserted the pseudo and the cd and rebooted the console and it worked but then the ram wasn’t recognized. There is a switch on the top of mine
@GameMistress Well, never liked Nintendont anyway! And that goes all the way back to when the NES was released and they locked down developers to only their POS! If I was a developer back then and they told me I couldn't develop games for any platform but theirs, I would have told them to go F themselves! Sega had better shit anyway!

I recommend Verbatim.
I've been using Verbatim for years, is there a different brand you suggest?

That's really helpful. I didn't know it was possible to do this.
Glad it was helpful!
The only time I ever burned a CD for a console was the Black Ice White Noise demo for JaguarCD. I thought that was pretty cool at the time.
That's awesome!
Thank you for this tutorial video. This has helped me a lot for my Saturn :).

Did you know you can play CDR without modding the Sega Saturn? Here is how to do so!

Do I always need the Saturn Kai? Or is that only for games for a different region? Like can I make a copy of a game I have and run it without the cartridge?
Yes you do unless your Sega Saturn is modded to either read cdrs or the disc swap technique.
If you have an unmodded saturn, pseudo Kai is required for any burned disc to load so you can’t take it out & play a burned disc
Quick question can you burn Japanese and pal games and play on North American console

Thank you Barry :)
Just to clear any misconceptions, it is perfectly legal to back up your games to either burn onto a different media or play in a emulator.
I did actually explain that very quickly in the video :)
Or patch them in some way before burning them.
Thanks for the tips! By the way, have you seen the Saroo cartridge? It's like an everdrive for Saturn. I didn't buy yet but i'm hope to soon.
First time I heard of it. :)
can you do it without the adapter thing and just burn n play?
No you can't. Youw ould have to modify your console ot play CDR if you do not want to use the adapter.
@@GameMistress ok i will just get the adapter thanks for answering my question!!!

I used one that was built in to my 10 year old pc ( not recommended) nowadays I use a USB dvd burner the same one on the amazon link.

Do you need a modded Saturn to play the burned game?
Yes. You either need a flashed action repair cart or a hard modded Saturn to play back up games.
No you don't As explained in the video itself I use pseudo Kai Cartridge to play CDR on the Sega Saturn :) It also removes region lock.
Here is the time stamp for that info 03:59
@@AlexBell1991 I have one of those 4 in 1 RAM cart.. is that also good?
@@Ostnizdasht206 as far as I know it won't allow you to play CDR they are only good to remove region lock.
yes, I DEFINATELY own all of the games Im going to burn ;)
