Man, so much quality. This video seems like a tv documentary with all that interesting interviews.

This made me so excited! The dev of my favorite sim with the creator of my favorite joystick. If VKB follows through with a FFB joystick the gladiator I've souped up (floor mounted with extension) wont be the only VKB stick I own.

Great video. Thanks for being such a good advocate for flight simulation. I can’t wait for the day we have a modern, consumer grade force feedback stick available.

Amazing! Loved the Experiment with Real Pilots trying out for the first time. Also, bringing the head of VKB and making him sweat his shirt on a real flight was genious! Nothing better to show someone how badly we need FFB in Flight Sim!! Keep doing these videos as they are very informative and entertaining! Best Regards!

I really like your reviews and interviews. Perspective of someone who is sim enthusiast and real pilot is very valuable and your content is well put together. Please do more. Maybe next time get virpil and dcs guys? ;)

frqgrenade Thank you very much! Appreciate your time and attention to things I’m doing. I’ll try my best to do more, but it all depends on my flight schedule which is pretty tight and keeps me busy)! I would definitely like to be in touch with DCS programmers but I’ve heard they are pretty negative to any criticism or ideas regarding theirs flight model. I’ve got a buddy of mine he works for DCS he is also a pilot in “First flight” (Первый полёт) display aerobatic team on Yak-52. ( I’m a former pilot of this team as well). So even him can’t affects them much). I also keep my eyes on new flight simulation gear. I’m sure that VIrpil devices are pretty much similar to VKB since they are both just a spring loaded joysticks. What I’m really looking forward to see and review is a new force feedback devices from any manufacturer.

th-cam.com/video/xYcX534JqG4/w-d-xo.html When I sim, I just get into the groove by listening to this song, because it led me to the travel industry and eventually work at American Airlines as a background guy, helping the flight attendants and pilots with their sequestering during flights via software scheduling, so they could take a break and relax. Anyone who gets an aircraft into the air, from baggage handlers on up, is a angel for the work they do to get the stupid people who know nothing about airlines to their destinations

FFB2 user here. Got a TMWH stick in the cupboard... I'd definately buy a VKB base for it that brings FFB. But I'd never go back from FFB, it's like VR or before that flying with TIR or adding rudder pedals to the setup.

Great video. Unfortunately I get the impression that Ilya still wasn't convinced. In Ilya's defense, I would imagine most of his customers are DCS / space sim players, in which case won't the modern FBW systems featured in modern jets remove some of the stick inertia and increased stiffness at speed that you describe? (I'm not a real pilot, so I'm not sure how different the feel of FBW systems are).

Unfortunately, the force feedback equipment that was available for $100 in those days is almost impossible to appear again today.
The cheapest new equipment I can find also costs $1,000. Although its response and torque are 2-3 times that of FFB, the price is too high.

Very cool video, since I am 1/4 Russian I enjoy hearing the language, although I have never made it as far as Moscow, Moscow came to me twice when I wrote and asked for information on the Commonwealth way back in the mid 70's, when my German teacher and choir director challenged us students to write our fav countries and explain to them why, in case our fav countries would respond back. I wrote back directly to the Russian address the Russian consulate gave my German teacher on a phone call. I simply wrote "I fell in love with a Christian Russian girl".... I met at Alliance redwoods, during our cabin bug races, where we would capture insects and have them race from the center of a circle.
I thought "yeach", since I was never happy when insects of unusual size were around, I'd have my red haired Russian/Lithuanian/Scotch/Irish mother, because that is how Russia branched out to help those states from overbearing religious practices, I knew they were traders, and I was raised in a family and minority religion that welcomed traders, a minority branch of Judaism in the form of Christianity, "Jews for Jesus" as we are known. Back to the bug race because it leads back to what I am thanking you for, I braved my worst fear and captured what I later learned was a brown recluse spider--very venomous, but for some reason the spider looked female to me and I figured female spiders must be gentle, the only other female spider I encountered was at Howard Prairie Lake, the year before my first overseas flight, in 77, that spider was under a rock I picked up since we were looking for quartz (it was a real Vintage Year), to borrow from the Never Ending Story, which my Mexican fiance loved with Russian leanings, which is why we married.
To end this, because I get carried away with the beginning of how I met real love, in my fiance and daughter we had, my spider won the cabin bug races and I scammed my Christian friends at the same time, because the spider had a broken leg. But I did not put too much pity on it, after my stunned friends saw this, and Alliance Redwoods and its ambiance was the Hogwarts of America, close to the most wonderful set of Italian restaurants in the world, in Occidental (better than Accidental, lol), that was where our Hogsmeade was, but we were good boys and girls, it was only after our week of camping in some of the same Redwoods used for the Ewoks in that third Star Wars film, Return of the Jedi.
They should have ended the franchise then, but you know kids, they want to see us grown ups shooting at something rather than each other, so a well done series of followup movies has been done, trying to teach children all over the earth that an alien country, say for instance the Greenland Donald Trump wanted, is protected by the grownups of this world.
I was able to explore the world because of the response I got from Russia, I felt if someone we were taught to fear would send me friendly information, and information has always been propaganda, because we have to use that information to say we are all part of a family, but the message of comradeship gets lost when certain members of the family seek wealth, when a one, two, three or four bedroom home will do, depending on how many you care for, vs. a White House I entered once with a gazillion rooms.
I love Washington DC because other countries are allowed on its soil, with their consulates, but others seem to fear information that we have always known about, such as those of us who were taught to fly the right way from flight simulation. They blamed 911 on pilots, all countries, including Russia, those that do not respect what your great video of virtual reality shows--for me, since I have traveled the world from east to west and pole to pole as a business and tourism system teacher, including the airlines, your video shows me fun I have not had yet but would love to have vs. a big monitor from Samsung that has worked 15 years+ day and night, at my home, in my home office, and when I worked for retail giant JDA software and they lost a monitor, I said no problem to my boss, give yours to the employee who lost it, and I will bring in my Samsung monitor. Now I have something I can give to a neighbor, thanks to your post, because I have never felt that excited about VR, although I might have to replace my Logitech stick with a force feedback stick.
In my real flights, which started in 2006, I was taught by Jason Bullard, a man half my age but one who knew of my simming passion because he had seen some of the programs I wrote to help Microsoft Launch FS2002 onwards. I made some bitmaps called "Soft Horizons" for FS9 on upwards, and I made a program called "Landclass Assistant" which required the help of folks like you guys, to help me with the math. Landclass Assistant was for placing of landclass over the default world scenery, for instance Caracas and Margarita Is, where I did biz systems training in 1990, were just shown as small burbs in the sim after I was on its beta, and went live, that was FS9.
I was invited to the FSX beta but chose not to participate, I did not have the MSI Nightblade with an Intel 7700 processor. Small world, my Sister in Law is a senior mentor in Intel's security facility in Chandler AZ, and I have no clue what she does there, but I know from working in Casinos cam security, and since I had to retire early due to getting hurt in an accident before 2015, I have helped websites such as Google, TH-cam, and Airline sites such as Air Kenya, with thoughts of how to circumvent any cyberattack, which is why that way of attacking international infrastructure will fail. I learned my networking strengths from a laid back hippie, Cliff Stoll, who must have known my father, a domestic and international health physicist who was consulted by all countries regarding nuclear safety, international sub losses, and making international nuclear navies safe under the UN Guidelines. I wish I knew what he knew, but the only physics I know are the love of women, comrades, and the joy of transportation, and the wonder I saw when John Glenn got to do what another international hero, Yuri Gagarin did, the first two carbon units, lol, to orbit the earth other than our own moon.
If we go to the moon again, I hope we can find some use for it other than saying we were just there. It would take a lot of superpowers to find out if there is water for our planet up there, but the forewarning in movies is out there, you cannot use nuclear devices on the moon, it would have a terrible impact on all life on earth. My father left that message with me, he wanted me to focus on scientific reality vs those who seek to change it.
